HZ was my choice because I've really loved the series so far. I genuinely haven't been this invested in the anime this much since I was a kid, and it makes me really happy as a fan to actually look forward to seeing what comes next in the story aside from, like, a Gym battle or some rival fight. The more serialized story feels like it's meant to appeal to us older fans, plus the more serious villains like Spinel! 🤩
Even past favorite arcs like DP and XY needed to actually reel me in with Paul/Hunter J/Team Galactic and TSME/Team Flare. (Because by the time those arcs aired, I had already entered my burnout with Ash as a character.)
SM is pretty solid too, since I liked the home away from home feel Alola had as a region, and I actually did get a bit invested with Lillie's arc. (Just not to HZ's extent.)
