WHAT SCIENCE REVEALS ABOUT A CHILD’S LOVEY OR SECURITY BLANKET
Research shows that a child’s security blanket or beloved teddy is actually a good thing. Turns out, blankies and loveys are a tool to boost a child’s confidence level, self-value, and they are even empowering.
Why? Blankets and loveys are a sense of security for children — a way to help them leave their parent or caregiver for the day, to work through the tears of an emotional moment, and to handle those tough transitions that they need extra support with. With that blanket or lovey in tow.
While added focus and being less shy are great benefits in and of themselves, there is even more good news about the advantage of letting children have blankies and loveys. Research also tells us that “their lovey objects are like the first training wheels for telling themselves ‘you’re all right’. With a built-in sense of security, children feel safe enough to take small risks, explore and grow.”
Training wheels provided a safety net which increases confidence and then are shed when no longer needed.
By taking small risks, children will feel free and unafraid to transition to taking larger risks as they grow and change.
The debate about the value of security blankets and other lovey objects has been taking place since 1951, the same year in which the term transitional object was first used by D.W. Winnicott.
Winnicott defines the term transitional object as “a designation for any material to which an infant attributes a special value and by means of which the child is able to make the necessary shift from the earliest oral relationship with mother to genuine object-relationships.”
In simpler terms, this means that security objects:
Empower children
Help children make connections outside of their parents
Help navigate separation for a child
Indicate how children will create human friendships
According to Psychology Today, security objects are “rooted in sensorial elements that lessen the stress of separation, while they soothe and comfort the child.” Each aspect of the item — from how it smells, to feeling the worn spots, to the faded color — is part of the unique relationship between the security object and the child. Not only does the security blanket or lovey act as a comfort, but it has become a physical keepsake of memories and nostalgia.

How We Think about E-Waste Is in Need of Repair
From its crowded streets, Hauqiangbei, looks like any other crowded Chinese shopping district, packed with streetside malls, snack vendors, and people in a sharp-elbowed hurry. But if you slip into any of these malls, it quickly becomes apparent that Huaqiangbei, located in the heart of Shenzhen, China’s electronics design and manufacturing hub, is unlike anywhere else on Earth.
SEG Plaza, at the heart of the Huaqiangbei District, doesn’t look like a paragon of green innovation when you walk into it. The main floor is packed with kiosks and stalls selling a riot of the sorts of things you find only inside your computers: cables, RAM, CPUs, and fans. They’re spooled, hung, and displayed in cases, looking not unlike a high-end butcher shop that might specialize in snakes and other coiled objects. Look up, and you’ll see nearly ten floors of similar vendors selling similar wares.
Who bothers coming here? The city’s engineers and product designers in search of the pieces and parts necessary that can help them build tomorrow’s—or today’s—electronics. Need an Intel 486 CPU from the early 1990s? Someone at SEG Plaza can get it for you in bulk. Want the motherboard from a 2002 vintage Dell laptop? The man selling Dell motherboards will ask how many you need for tomorrow.
Where does it all come from? In years past, much of the hardware in Huaqiangbei was imported from developed countries such as the United States, disassembled in infamously unsafe workshops elsewhere in South China, and then funneled into Huaqiangbei. It’s a trade that was widely misunderstood and that has saddled China with a reputation as the world’s electronic wastebasket. But the reality has long been far more complicated.

What should executives learn from Equifax data breach?
Breach has caused millionaire damage, CEO departure, and even conviction of former CIO. Penalties and severity of the leak should be a constant warning
The Equifax announced last week one agreement related to the violation of 2017 data , which exposed personal and financial records of more than 148 million people. The ruling requires the company to pay at least $ 1.38 billion to address injured consumer complaints.
The company will have to spend $ 380.5 million on benefits to those affected by the breach, including monetary compensation, credit monitoring and assistance in restoring identities. The deal also provides for the company to provide more than $ 125 million in cash compensation.
In addition, the company will need to pay $ 175 million in fines to settle attorney's fees and $ 100 million to settle pending disputes with the Department of Consumer Financial Protection and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Still according to the agreed decision, Equifax is expected to invest $ 1 billion over the next five years to improve its data security system.
Intense damage
The penalties applied are part of complicated processes Equifax has been going through for the past two years. Immediately after the breach, and the company's own failed effort to deal with its aftermath, CEO Richard Smith left the organization
Another controversial situation is Jun Ying, a former vice president of Equifax and the international CIO , who, in late June, was sentenced to four months in jail and paid about $ 117,000 in fines and another US. $ 55,000 for unlawful company actions during the data breach period. In October last year, former Equifax engineer Sudhakar Reddy Bonthu was also ordered to pay a financial refund and to serve eight months in house arrest.
Considered "totally preventable", the violation has not been prosecuted in the United States alone. In September last year, the UK data regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), fined Equifax £ 500,000 ($ 664,000) for not protecting the personal data of about 15 million Britons.
Similar fines were also applied to other companies. In early July, ICO announced plans to fine British Airways more than £ 183 million (about $ 230 million) after hackers stole the personal data of half a million airline customers. ICO also said it intends to fine Marriott Hotel Group £ 99.2 million (about $ 123 million) for data breach discovered in 2018.

The iPad
You have probably heard about the iPad somewhere, but do you know what it is? It is a device developed by Apple Inc , the same as the iPhone. The same is a tablet, ie a media player, or a way to upload many content, such as music, books, magazines, photos, among others, digitally and portable.
Story Announced on January 27, 2010, iPad first became known at a press conference at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, United States. A few months earlier, some would-be names came up, such as iSlate, iBook, iTablet, and others. The device was presented as something between the MacBook (notebook of the same brand) and the iPhone (mobile device also of the same company). The operating system used is the same as the iPhone, iOS, and the device received a great reception when it was released.
In Brazil, the equipment became available on November 30, 2010, and the same week, Transform, a Brazilian company specializing in medical products, filed a lawsuit against the distributors of this device in the country, claiming that they owned about the iPad brand since they had an i-PAD Fast defibrillator. In defense, Apple Inc claimed that the name would be similar to its music player's iPod.
Features:In addition to storing this content, tablets, such as the iPad, allow users to watch movies, play games, take photos, access websites, and more. It would be something like a cell phone in larger physical size, and some even allow the use of 3G internet, and also allow calls to mobile phones.
The handset of this brand is slim, light and very beautiful, making use of touchscreen technology for easy handling. With no buttons, your finger or a specific pen is used to access applications and other functionality. These devices, however, only allow you to use downloaded content on the device as there is no USB port for either CD and DVD.

Online Poker Legislation in Thailand
Although gambling is illegal in Thailand, there hasn’t been a case yet where a poker player has had a problem playing online. However, for those who do wish to play online poker, special care is advised. Using a Thai Credit Card is definitely a no-go. Solutions like Entropay/Skrill/Neteller/Bitcoin are recommended.
The poker sites themselves seem to have put Thailand on their whitelist of legal online poker countries. As a result, all the major online rooms are available in Thailand: PokerStars, PartyPoker, iPoker, America’s Cardroom and many others work. There are even some Thai specific sites like PokerThai.netor W88poker to play poker online with Thai locals.
ive Poker Venues in Thailand
Despite these strict laws and great efforts to enforce them, illegal gambling in Thailand is very rampant, and underground casinos are said to be everywhere. In Thailand, 70% of the people here are regular gamblers.
Besides a couple of – obviously illegal – home games of poker in Bangkok, Koh Samui, Phuket, and Pattaya, there are only a couple of casinos at the borders of Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar with Thailand, where gambling is allowed.

Korea’s Gambling Law
Korea is one of a small number of countries in the world that differentiates Korean citizens and foreigners with regard to the legality of gambling via the gambling locale.  Casino gambling, for Koreans, is legally prohibited in all but one casino.  However, foreigners may gamble in a variety of casinos located in most major tourist cities. Korean criminal law applies to Korean citizen throughout the world,  Thus, Korean citizen are, even, prohibited from gambling outside of Korea.  Prosecution, for overseas gambling by Koreans, sometimes occur, however, these prosecutions are, usually, part of a more substantial allegation against the individual. The, only, exception, for Koreans, to the Gambling Laws is casino gambling at Kangwon Land.  The Special Act on the Assistance to Development of Abandoned Mines established the legal framework for the development of the Kangwon Land casino and the law and related laws allows Koreans to patronize this casino. The casino is in a remote area a few hours South of Seoul.Foreigners, however, may gamble at any legally established casino in Korea.  The Tourism Promotion Law established the legal framework that has allowed the establishment of casinos throughout Korea for the use by, solely, foreigners.   Koreans have the opportunity, within Seoul and in many major cities, to gamble via lotteries, ToTo, horse racing, powerboat racing, and cycle racing only.
Sean is co-chair of the Korea Practice Team at IPG Legal. He is the first non-Korean attorney to have worked for the Korean court system (Constitutional Court of Korea) and one of the first non-Koreans to be a regular member of a Korean law faculty. How Fragile Is the Samsung Galaxy S8?
Insurance provider SquareTrade conducted its usual drop test with the Galaxy S8 and S8+ once the phones released. Not only did it find that the devices are very prone to cracks, but at the time, they were the most fragile handsets the company had ever tested.
The breakability of a device is measured on a scale of 100; the closer to 100, the more fragile the smartphone. The Galaxy S8 scored 76 on the scale, while the S8+ scored 77. This is classified as a “medium-high risk.”
According to the company, the S8 is the first phone it ever tested that cracked from the first drop on all sides (e.g. front fall, back fall, edge, etc.).
SquareTrade’s tests were done with a six-foot drop onto concrete, which is quite a fall. But it doesn’t take much for the S8 to crack under pressure.
S8 owners have reported cracks from drops as short as two feet. Having a case doesn’t necessarily make the device impervious to damage either. In our own experience, a drop of three feet onto a tiled surface is enough to crack the phone, even with a cover on.
Seeing that even a minor bout of clumsiness can lead to cracks on your Galaxy S8, what are your options for repair?
The normal manufacturer’s warranty doesn’t cover accidental damage to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. Furthermore, Samsung’s Accidental Damage From Handling (ADH), which gave owners of previous Galaxy models one free screen repair, does not apply to the S8 and S8+.
Instead of ADH, Samsung offers another warranty option for cracked screens due to accidental damage for the Samsung Galaxy S8. The extended warranty goes by different names depending on your country. The U.S. currently offers Samsung Premium Care, while the U.K., India, and South Africa offer Samsung Mobile Care.
To use these options, you need to have registered for the extended warranty within 30 days of buying your phone. After this period passes, you cannot buy the insurance policy.

Be careful when using applications on the Internet
Careless behavior on the Internet often leads to malware entering the computer. But if you stick to some guidelines, you reduce the chances of an infection considerably:
Download programs and files only from reliable sources . You should always download software and updates from the official producers' website or, in the case of freeware or shareware, from serious and known portals.
Be careful when installing programs not to install additional unwanted programs together .
Do not open any attachments or links in the e-mails with an unknown sender or a message with an object of dubious nature .
Do not blindly click on advertising , banners and pop-up windows on the Internet. Above all, avoid the links that promise you special discounts, coupons or other suspicious offers.
Always enter sensitive data such as bank account details, login details and passwords with caution .
Save the most important data on a backup located on an external medium , in case your computer is infected by a malware and can be eliminated only by formatting the system. How to eliminate malware? When you fear that malware is on your computer, you need to take the necessary measures as quickly as possible. However, there is no single effective way to eliminate all types of malware. Through an Internet search you can find out about the symptoms and eventually find a procedure that has already been tested to solve the problem. Obviously you shouldn't run the search from the infected computer, but rather it would be better to disconnect it immediately from the network and turn it off , before the malware combines other damages.

The Agricultural Law
The court decision of 2004 ( HIA , et al., V. DEA , et al.) Also does not mention a specific percentage of THC as a determining factor about what is permissible in industrial hemp. It was not until ten years later, with the approval of the agricultural law, also known as the Agricultural Act of 2014, when 0.3% THC or less in Cannabis was enshrined in the federal law .
Section 7606 of the agricultural law defines "industrial hemp" for the first time in the history of the United States and differentiates it from marijuana. Cannabis was Hemp, not Marijuana, while no part of the plant (including leaves and flowers) exceeded a THC concentration of "more than 0.3 percent of its dry weight."
The resin was not mentioned in section 7606 of the agricultural law, which also crafted the legal exception for the cultivation of industrial hemp in the United States under the auspices of pilot research plans approved by the states. This legal vacuum opened ample opportunities for the defenders and entrepreneurs of the industrial Hemp.
Whereas in the past only products made from hemp grown outside the country could be marketed in the United States, for the first time in many years American farmers could grow industrial hemp on domestic soils, albeit on a temporary basis. But only the states that legalized the cultivation of industrial hemp could opt for this agricultural experiment sanctioned by the federal government. Cultivating Hemp outside the pilot research parameters established by the state is still prohibited by federal law.

7 Social Media Marketing Trends That Will Dominate 2018
As the world of social media marketing changes rapidly, it is important to keep up to date on industry trends so you can create the most successful engagement strategy possible.
Here are 7 trends in social media marketing that will dominate in 2018. 1. A focus on hiring talent for content creation.
In the past, many companies have hired freelance writers to create content for their social networking accounts. They would re-promote the new content on platforms. The growing prominence of social media platforms as a method for engaging young consumers will push marketers and companies to hire their own employees to focus on content creation.
As young consumers spend a lot of time engaging with brands in social media, it is imperative that brands publish content that is not only relevant to the audience, but tailored specifically to the platform on which it is being posted.
The type of content that is best for Facebook is very different from the type that is best for Instagram, which means that companies need to hire experts in the content creation space to manage their accounts.
Marketing strategies often take time to be created and implemented, so hiring internal talent for social media marketing is a great way to ensure success in space.
2. Increased emphasis on video content.
More and more content strategists are focusing on video content rather than images for brand marketing.
Marketing experts have found that engaging your target audience is much easier through video. However, it's important to make sure that the video content you produce is aligned with your brand image and connects with your users.
To do this, create videos that your customers can relate to and focus on showing your product in use instead of just showing the product itself.
3. A focus on the content generated by the user.
Many brands are leveraging user-generated content in their social media accounts to better engage their followers.
For example, lifestyle brands will ask their followers to send pictures of themselves wearing a particular style of clothing or doing a specific activity. These brands will choose the best and submit them and submit them on your page, giving credit to the follower who sent them.
This is not only a great way to get new content and quality; It is also a perfect strategy for better involvement of your followers.
The chosen followers will be enthusiastic about the presentation, and they will have a better chance to buy your products and encourage your friends to check out your page. Instagram may offer the highest ROI for your UGC. You can use an Instagram analysis tool to measure which posts get the most involvement.4. Increased Use of Stories.Facebook and Instagram Stories have become wild in this. Many users who follow many accounts are not slow to see each new post in their feed, but it will take a few seconds to see new stories. You can use this as an advantage by encouraging users to check newly published content in your story or cross-promoting it on your other social network accounts.
5. Brand partnership to engage customers. Many brands are making use of influencers on Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat to promote their products to a large audience.Brand partnerships are a great way to reach new users and are often far more profitable than generating new content.

To clean your apartment before returning
"There is a well known place that the chief did not neglect to examine: the water tank over the can. He lifted the best to check whether the inside had been very much cleaned, "says Thomas Köppel, recalling his understudy years 25 years back.
Little has changed since. Like this last day of August when four ladies end up in the vacant kitchen of a condo in Bern. The old inhabitants offer it to the new tenants. The delegate of the board grasps an agenda.
Taps. Lights. Entryways. Blinds. Burner of the stove. The glass entryway of the stove, the chrome in the washroom, the windows and the shades. The toilets: do they work?
