#3ssvia Matt Borruso @mattborruso Print Shop, on view at @etalgallerysf Print Shop is an installation of fifty screen prints, each with variations. The images were assembled from photographs and graphics in Matt Borruso's collection. Some he returns to again and again, like the picture of prop heads in Forrest J. Ackerman’s house, the Domus magazine covers, or photographs of ruins, feet, snakes, and early humans. These and other images have been repeatedly copied and altered. Repetition and reproduction is the process. The copy is the subject. BOOK LAUNCH & SIGNING COMMON PLACE by Scott Rossi @scottrossii Join us at Bungee Space @bungee.space on September 21st, Wednesday, at 7 p.m of the artist Scott Rossi's first monograph's New York launching event. Rossi will sign and give a casual chat about the book. Common Place is a visual meditation on Central Park. The project explores the results of intentions set forth by the park’s chief architect, Frederick L. Olmsted, who wanted Central Park to be a democratic space that allows all New Yorkers to escape from the distractions of urban life in Manhattan. Co-published by Guest Editions @guesteditions and Pomegranate Press @pomegranate_press . Scott Rossi is a Canadian photographer living and working in New York. His work explores the poetic nuances of daily life, often focusing on subcultures and public spaces. LET IT GO @benedikte_bjerre @moussemagazine Where do these objects come from? At the moment, they are sculptures arranged in the exhibition let it go, let it go by Benedikte Bjerre at Kunstverein Göttingen, Germany @kunstverein_goettingen . But what were their lives before? Commodity products, shelving systems, candy, reproductions, helium balloons, shards from the natural world, photographs, currency, children’s toys, IKEA furniture, LED lights. But most recently they were sculptures arranged in other constellations, other settings. What happens when the energy and speed that a work has been extracting power from is exhausted, or perhaps so overstimulated that there is only depletion? Upstarts turning into monopolies, strategies and aesthetics of resistance absorbed by the empire. How and in what state can the work then exist? The publication let it go eliminates the repetition of the phrase in the exhibition title, borrowed from Elsa in the Disney film Frozen. It attempts to trace these questions by backtracking through the exhibition histories of all the works that were on display at Kunstverein Göttingen. It is year 2622, and Bungee Space is sending this invitation to all the residents of New York City and the whole world: over 20 strange creatures have been found growing within this 10 sq. ft land inside Bungee Space. Some of them wear crocodiles 🐊 skins, or glimmering shell of insects 🐞 , while some present the texture of ocean waves 🌊 , or the sheen of snow ❄️ . With no exception, they all grow flaming hair 🔥 . Dr S14 Stanton (beta 1.3) dives into the material analysis report — it was a Spanish Artist called Alex Zeta who created these futuristic immortal creatures in Amsterdam 600 years ago. NOW IS NOW Nanna Hänninen @nannahanninen Published by @kodoji_press in 2020 Time is the given in Nanna Hänninen’s conceptual photography practice – as it is in all photography. Photography records an instant and marks too that it has passed and is gone. Furthermore, Hänninen’s book NOW IS NOW and the exhibition it accompanied, ‘How about the Future’ at Serlachius Museums Gösta in the pandemic year of 2020, are marked by her investigation of how we conceive of and comprehend time. NOW IS NOW is composed of images by Hänninen, both her own source images and sculptures and works based on found images, interleaved through a text by Finnish philosopher Tuomas Nevanlinna and bookended by an excerpt from curator Laura Kuurne’s essay on Hänninen’s work. Hänninen is moved by climate change to review how we look at the future; her work expresses the urgency of rejecting the methods we habitually employ to consider history and time passing. Instead, she fashions experimental models of what might be to come. "Paging through the book, which fits neatly into the reader’s hand, one encounters a reflection on how the understanding of time has developed in Western thinking, how it might be otherwise, while looking at images marked by their transience, such as sculptures braced around blocks of ice, historic photographs or further works that illustrate an action in two parts."
