What was going through Cooper Howard’s head as his nose necrotized, and his skin mottled, and he lost himself and everything he ever stood for one act at a time.
This is the finished version of my original prompt, inspired by the official fallout ghoul transformation progression poster. What did Cooper look like after the bombs fell, after he lost his daughter? After he began to forsake every value he ever treasured. After he made his first kill in the wasteland? Did he ever wake gasping from nightmares where he lost his daughter all over again? Cooper didn’t lose his morality overnight. It hurt.

I haven't seen anyone talk about this so maybe it's just me, but Lucy's speech when she first meets The Ghoul and asks him to stand down doesn't sound like her normal speech e.g. "I'm obliged to intervene" and "In which case, I think everyone in this town would agree that force is justified" etc.
It almost sounds like she's reciting something, and I have a headcanon that it's a big hero speech from one of Cooper Howard's movies where he's trying to de-escalate a shootout when he arrives in town. She's watched the movie over and over and can recite the speech from memory, so she uses it when encountering her first real shootout.
Also, The Ghoul has such a big smile after she's finished her speech, like wow, I can't believe she's quoting me to me right now.
