Seattle, WA
Also known as the Emerald City, Seattle is one of the best places to live in the US. With no income tax, you get more savings per month. It also boasts cultural diversity and an incredible food scene. If you are into coffee, you will love to know that it is the birthplace of Starbucks. Seattle is also a relatively safe city and considered as one of the smartest cities in America because of the high percentage of bachelor’s degree holders. But on the negative side, Seattle’s cost of living is high making it the 5th most expensive city in the country.
Seattle Aquarium
The Seattle Aquarium is another favorite destination for many tourists and locals alike. This is a public aquarium that opened in 1977 and since then, it became the home of many marine creatures. It is divided into two sections – the Pier 59 and the Pier 60. Pier 59 features the Window on Washington Water which offers fantastic replica view of coastal water of the state. There are also dive shows several times a day and Virtual Reality Experience every 15 minutes. On Pier 60, visitors will enjoy the Underwater Dome with different marine animals like sharks on the background. After your tour, you can visit the gift shop for some memorabilia or the aquarium café for a quick snack.
Seattle mayor boosts price of city’s biggest-ever property tax proposal
Homeowners will see their property tax rise with the new tax proposal from the city mayor. According to the city council, the additional money will be used to maintain bridges, build and repair sidewalks, repave busy streets, and expand the city’s bike network. The proposal will still undergo review and amendments before going to the November ballot and approved by voters. But as early as now, there are mixed reactions to this from Seattle residents. Of course, there will be some who will support it but definitely, there will also be some who will oppose the additional tax as this will be a burden to the people.
