✱ 「 chris evans, cis man + he/him 」🔬 ‧₊˚ ⋆ ــــــــــﮩ٨ـ did you page 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐄 𝐌𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 from the nurse's station ? they’re the forty-four year old float nurse at kingsley memorial, they’ve been working here for one year. you’ve probably seen them if you catched a rotating selection of cartoon band-aids, doodled post-it notes, a shaker full of strawberry protein shake, and the scent of children's sunscreen and glitter body spray, the patients that do like them would tell you they are calming and hard-working, but some of them think they’re anxious and unserious. time is rushing, just go and find them.

everyone in new york city knows cole mccullough. well, everyone on the east-side. well, everyone on the lower east-side. eh, maybe some of brooklyn if you count his extended family. cole was born to an irish-american family in bay ridge. his father was a journalist, and his mother raised four girls before him, so even as a young boy he was … talkative. but when his school friends started to venture out onto the subway and the streets, a stark difference became apparent. a few of them thought he was lame, or too soft, or weak. but that wasn't it. cole started having panic attacks. crowds, traffic, noises, nearly anything about new york would set him off.
it was something to over-come, and he did. when he met anne-marie at a bar in his early thirties and ended up going home with her, cole was on top of the world. he didn't exactly know how one-night-stands worked, so he kind of just stayed with her. even when she got pregnant. he was a learning-to-be-wild 32 year old and she wasn't ready to settle down, not that either of them noticed until after holly was born. when anne-marie skipped town, the only thing that changed was the way people talked about him.
cole mccullough was a single dad. scared, but doing okay. he started writing children's books when holly was three, and by the time she was four, he was a micro-celebrity. it was actually a lucky break for more reasons than one. when he and holly were in a car accident on new year's eve six years ago, the man that hit them recognized him and sped them both to kingsley memorial himself. holly wasn't even scratched, but cole was in-patient for a month, with six months physical therapy after that. that's when he decided at 38 to become a nurse. it took a few years, but one year ago he got the job at the same place that saved him.
✱ 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒 𓂃
cole's children's books are pretty well-known in the educational and parental fields, but he never exactly breached that containment. still, if you were to hear his name, you'd probably think it sounds familiar.
his daughter holly is 12 now, and may be getting into the phase of thinking her dad who dresses up with her and sings frozen in the car is a little embarrassing.
cole loves nursing, but does get a bit touchy when people mention how late in life he started.
has moderate generalized anxiety, but is medicated and therapized sufficiently. still, sometimes you'll find him trying to control his breathing in a hallway.

✱ 「 greta onieogou, cis woman + she/her 」 🔬 ‧₊˚ ⋆ ــــــــــﮩ٨ـ did you page 𝐒𝐀𝐕𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀𝐇 𝐁𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐑𝐄 from admin ? they’re the thirty-four year old pr representative at lexington, they’ve been working here for four years. you’ve probably seen them if you caught a strong southern accent echoing through the halls, the scent of tom ford’s tobacco vanille, and the sound of stilettos scratching the floor, the patients that do like them would tell you they are charismatic and cheery, but some of them think they’re dishonest and condescending. time is rushing, just go and find them.

decatur wasn't a small town by any sense of the word. the heavy alabama sun beat down on upwards of 1000 people per square mile, but you wouldn't know it if you listened to the way savannah's daddy talked. he was from new york. the big apple. the city. savannah and all the kids from sunday school would crowd around him on the porch to listen to him talk and talk about broadway & wall street & times square. about how big and beautiful it was. if it wasn't for savannah's momma pulling her off his lap to go wash up for supper, she would've never stopped listening.
listening, she liked. but talking? talking she was good at. everybody at the beauty store always said savannah bakare could talk up a brick wall. even the aunties and mawmaws that clutched their pearls at savannah's momma marrying a city boy loved savannah. they always said that savannah bakare loved to talk so much she might as well make some money off of it. so she did. she got her bachelor's in marketing at the university of alabama, but she didn't find a lot of joy in the digital.
savannah's daddy got sick when she was 22. decatur morgan hospital had a whole host of kind folks, but some of the clinical staff were slow on the uptake. forgot to check an i.v. that caused savannah's daddy to die way before he was meant to. it was heartbreaking, but savannah met the most brilliant woman. she was perfectly put together, manicured and smiling in that way you did when you were actually meant to be sad. the woman opened her mouth and lied through her teeth, for like three hours. and everyone else in the room just went along with it. savannah looked at her badge. public relations representative. and she knew where she wanted to go.
✱ 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒 𓂃
savannah has a heavy southern accent. her speech is peppered with colloquialisms, slang, and idioms. its barely noticeable, but she does pitch it up a bit when trying to get her way.
she runs the lexington university hospital socials like the goddamn navy. rank has no place here, she's yanking surgeons into a closet to film a tiktok.
only wears designer. got called in at 2 am once for a emergency consult, wore designer pjs. it's unclear whether she gets paid that much.
the constant heel-clicking while she walks is an active choice. pr troublemakers know she can be quiet as a mouse when she wants to be.
