a social construct is still a real thing. not sure why that is so difficult to understand for so many people. social power structures are real. social constructs are real. our entire world is made up of them. they are real. they just aren't eternal, immutable, unchanging or divinely prescribed.

Bro, your alphabet is so chad we're using it to approximate languages it was never designed for and is absolutely not suited to.
>be me
>ancient alphabet maker
>create a logical and perfectly structured alphabet, where every unique sound in my language is represented by one unique letter
>surely_this_will_not_cause_issues.jpg
>fast-forward 1000 years
>silent letters
>letters that make multiple sounds
>combinations of letters to make even more sounds
>loanwords that are written the way the words are written in a different language even if that doesn't make sense in my language
>new letters just to express sounds from languages I didn't even know about

I have had training on this as part of one of my jobs.
The best thing you can do is understand the difference between socially-motivated violence and pure violence.
Socially-motivated people typically try to talk to you first, sometimes they can be reasoned with or time can be bought to get yourself to safety. The most important thing here is to look for an escape, unless you are 110% sure you can take them with whatever you already have. You can be trained to handle this sort of thing-- and I was-- but my advice for normal people is to plan an escape, either before you're spotted or just run like hell for an exit, or even just away. Often, they won't come after you unless they have a specific motivation relevant to you personally. These people are still people, and may relent but you can't bet your safety on that.
If someone is simply violent, typically you won't know they're there until they attack you. Your only option is to try and wriggle free and run. In this case, you can use your body weight against the attacker to make yourself an uncooperative hinderance (like a difficult child-- remember, humans are heavy!) and wiggle like you're a Rainbow sponge then run away as fast as you can. Unless you do have an weapon on you and, again, are 110% sure you can take them-- or at least knock them off you to run away. This type of attacker is more likely to pursue an escaped target, particularly after a struggle, but your brain is your second best weapon here (first, you legs).
tl;dr Run unless you are 110% sure you can kill this person with whatever you already have and are prepared to do so.

Please, reblog! IIt’s called self defense. Apart from having here, in the US, one of the highest cases of homicide and rape in the world and high rate of GBV, think about how this could help your mother or sister

May you be happy for exactly 10 days then have someone betray you and ruin it
"May your dick fall off", "may your favorite character be misinterpreted by fans" nah, that's all basic
"May your favorite gaming series only have three amazing entries that are all stuck on outdated hardware with no easy way to emulate them and no hope for a sequel or a re-release"

Roxy loves Stephen Sprouse! Or at least, someone from the Jem design team decided to dress Roxy in Sprouse. I wonder if it's because Roxy bears a passing resemblance to Blondie's Debbie Harry, Sprouse's friend, roommate, and muse.
Not only did the Jem team base Roxy's arrows vest on one of his designs, but Roxy's original fashion -- the pink and green letters pants -- is similar to his graffiti letters designs from his AW 1984 collection. Hand-drawing black letters over vibrant silks and adorning them with sequins, Sprouse married glamour and punk in his designs.
Tumblr media
A few years ago, a Jem fan on Facebook shared a screenshot from this David Lee Roth music video "Just a Gigolo," and another fan identified the pants as Sprouse pants, saying she always wanted a pair! Here a gif I made of it:
Here's the Roxy doll that Integrity Toys produced in 2013. I see it as an homage to the sequins that Sprouse used frequently in his designs:
Tumblr media
Because so many fans desired a cartoon-based version of Roxy's original pants for their Integrity Toys doll, in 2014 I made a patent pleather version with a scattered letters design, and in 2018 I redid them using matte pleather with a grainy texture.

Fun fact: Sprouse's influence expanded to the Archie universe as well! Here's a scan I did of a comic book that I bought a couple years ago:

Here's a scan from inside the same comic. A character named Dexter creates colourful graffiti-sprawled outfits for Betty and Veronica for their upcoming Archies tour.

The original idea behind the Olympics was to hopefully foster diplomatic relations...
How well that ever worked is still up for debate, and it's clearly not doing much now.
The only other comment I have is that I'm not being an Olympic athlete 'ruins' someone's life. Or, at the very least it shouldn't need to.
Olympics is a gigantic scam.
I’m starting with the most strongly-worded statement possible to grab your attention before we continue.
The Olympic games are a waste of time that have already ruined several countries and wrecked thousands of lives.
They require an insane amount of money to successfully run in countries that do not have a pre-built Olympic-level infrastructure. Smaller poor countries desperately invest money in them in order to hopefully attract tourism and international athletes post-Olympics and every single time it doesn’t pay off. It has completely ruined Greece’s already-struggling economy even before the 2008 banking crisis. Olympic games in Brazil and Russia were heavily protested by the local opposition, because not only of the strain on the economy, but also because they were used by the governments to launder money and further corruption.
They ruin lives. In order to become an Olympic-level athlete you need a grueling training regime since you’ve just left infancy, not to mention an insane level of genetic luck. Millions of kids are put through hell and have their most important developmental period ruined mostly by heavily-projecting parents. Most of them do not succeed, almost all of them become dead useless meat by 30 or 40 at best with a laundry list of health issues from over-exertion starting from when they were barely able to walk.
Lastly, Olympic games are becoming more and more pointless every year. We have come so close to the perfect marathon time achievable by all known science that big important companies with millions of dollars are unable to improve performance in perfect lab conditions with the best gear and the top athletes. Within our lifetime we will see Olympians reach the peak of perfection and be unable to move past it because our biological bodies have limitations. Records will no longer be broken, spectator interest will only continue to drop. Competition and team-based sports are only as popular as they are because of the potential for drama, pure performance categories like running are simply not holding public interest as is.
Stop supporting Olympics. Root for your local sportsball team and watch events like Iron Man where the contestants have day jobs, it’s both more ethical and entertaining.

I wonder if the experiences of the writers might have influenced the media...
Started watching Dunmeshi.
Why are they all cooking using Japanese recipes and techniques?
It would make sense for the samurai guy to do it, but literally everyone else is cooking like a Japanese person too.
Marcille even fantasizes about sushi, of all things.
Takes me out of the experience. Everyone is Western-European-esque, but acts Japanese.

Turn on your timestamps though because I think I will legitimately lose my mind if I see one more news post from 2017 getting shared like it's recent or another fundraiser post from 2014 made by a deactivated blog. Seriously. Please. I'm so tired. And stop starting discourse with people on posts over comments they made 3+ years ago.

It's more because of hourly wage. They can't send you home if they guarantee you so many hours, but they don't want to pay you to do nothing.
seriously have been thinking about this all night long. call me autistic but the fact that 90% of workplaces the point is not to get your work done and then be done doing it but to instead perform an elaborate social dance in which you find something to do even when you're done doing everything you need to do in order to show your fellow workers that you, too, are Working . because you are at Work . disgusting why cant we all agree that if there is no work immediately to be done. we just dont do anything
