Agni Tapasya at the Sangam on Basant Panchami Sadhus perform a ritual by burning dried cow dung cakes at the sangam (confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the Saraswati , on the auspicious occasion of ‘Basant Panchami’ at the annual traditional fair of Magh Mela, in Prayagraj.
Vasant Panchami, the fifth day of spring is celebrated by worshipping the Hindu Goddess Saraswati (goddess of knowledge and wisdom). Hundreds and thousands of Hindus visit the fair to take a dip at the Sangam during the astronomically auspicious period of over 45 days celebrated as 'Magh Mela’.
