Her new question dredges up more of a reaction than her previous statement had, brows furrowing together for a moment and eyes narrowing slightly as if something terrible had just wafted through the air. It would not be obvious to any save perhaps those closest to him, that he has no particular favor towards the prince across the room. Ever the loyal dog to the empire, Gabranth likes to think himself as their faithful protector.. but where Vayne Solidor fits into the picture?..
"I don't know, I am not clairvoyant," he replies with more ease than he realizes initially. As the head of the 9th bureau, his station is almost entirely focused on information, both gathering and expunging it. Freely speaking does not come naturally, not anymore.
The Judge's fierce gaze drops back onto Rosie and scrutiny follows. Even without his regalia, most of the people in the room were more than aware of not only who he is, but what he does. His position to root out espionage is fairly unique and having an eye for something amiss is the only reason he'd been dragged to this fanciful nonsense in the first place. Of course Vayne hadn't divulged exactly why he thought there might be something amiss on this night, but Gabranth could easily believe that the prince just wanted to see him as uncomfortable as possible.
"What does it matter to you?"
Though he has continued their bare bones conversation, it is obvious that his attention is shared. Another glance into the direction of the prince as if to ensure that the man has not wandered off. Plenty of other soldiers stand within the confines of the lavish room, on the edges, dressed down in the sharpness of armor, but how quick could they react at such distance?

Perhaps it is that dead, distant detachment that draws Zahrosa to him at the first.
Perhaps it's the feeling of his mind, a powerful force schooled into stillness and silence on the outside, yet beneath... beneath she feels the roiling, constant movement of something rather more complex. Perhaps she finds interest in him simply because he does not notice he ought to be interested in her. The sorceress enjoys a game, though the rules are generally of her own making— and incomprehensible to anyone else.
She circles him like a creature sniffing out blood. Zahrosa looks quite beautiful, dressed in finery of appropriate style (half a century out of date), but there is always something uncanny about her. Dress it up however one likes, she is uncomfortably slight at certain angles, injured and scarred in ways she does not trouble to hide, very intense in the way she watches.
The sorceress plants herself before him, smiles a sharp slice of white even as his expression fails to change. Rosie observes his focus shift toward something behind her— she does not turn or look away, but nonetheless she observes. She reaches out, borrows the eyes of those closer to the figure in order to catch a glimpse.
And meanwhile, that twitch of the lips produces some flicker of triumph deep in her monochrome gaze. See? He is capable after all. Zahrosa leans in minutely, as though her words are for his ears only.
"And what does fate serve to that one?"

the scene i took screenshots from has just led to me sitting here thinking over the fact that bergan was strong enough with the manufacted nethicite to pick up not only drace with one hand, but drace in full armor with one hand, and toss her across a big ass throne room. like what the fuck don't give someone like him that power. he is evil.

FFXII Week - Day 1: Favourite Character
Judge Drace
Could it be I am simply enamoured by an older lady knight? Could it be that she has the rawest lines in the series? Who can say...

In honor of Sunday and that other post you have brought back - can you elaborate on each judge's preferences for a partner? What characteristics (gender, physical appearance, personality etc) would make someone attractive to each one of them, if the job wasn't an issue and only their personal tastes were considered?
What a fun prompt 👀
Bergan: He is strictly into human women, considered attractive by most, any who are smaller than him and who he could easily overpower. Everything about this man is related to his ego, so someone that would stroke that ego (both literally and figuratively lol) would have his attention pretty quick. He doesn't like a person who will talk back, or argue with what he wants, he is at the top of the foodchain and will always be eager to prove it.
Drace: She appreciates people who are obviously well kept- gender unimportant (including certain non-humes), if you aren't up on hygiene she likely won't give you a second glance. Drace likes someone with a strong personality, who will stand up for those that they care for or those that cannot fend for themselves, be it verbally or physically. The quickest way to get her attention would be to flirt unabashedly and be able to tolerate her banter.
Ghis: If he was not already married to his work life, he would find interest in human women who are strong on their own, always challenging the world around them and not constantly looking to him for help. someone who very much stands out amongst the crowd would draw his eye readily, as he is often surrounded by the fanciful and wealthy, everyone always looks and sounds and acts the same.
Zargabaath: While he has bedded individuals of varying gender (mostly male leaning), there is no intention of his to seek any sort of relationship with non-humes that extends past friendship. His attention can be caught if he finds someone who is in the same state of mind as himself; constantly trying to do what is right, to stand up against the wrong in the world, and seek out resolution that avoids violence of any degree.
Gabranth: This is a man who doesn't exactly know what he wants in another person, leaning heavily towards enjoying women and their bodies but might be open to experimenting with others (however he is not planning on engaging with any non-hume). Something about a person who is unafraid of what he can do but respects his power and struggle, is enticing, but he is more often than not going to seek out personal relationships because he is too busy engaging with self destructive behavior to try- so any lucky enough to get him out of his armor shouldn't be dissuaded if he simply cleans up and leaves. Persistence keeps his attention.

"Ego is one thing; brain's another." / claude to ghis!
He knows well enough that her words are meant to cause offense, perhaps enunciated further in the way that the soldier who'd brought her before him raises his sword with the intention of landing a blow with its pommel for such insolence. Ghis raises his hand in demand for pause, which is met in full, an entirely amused laugh leaving from beneath the metal helm. On any other occasion he may very well have allowed such a violent action to go on without opposition but he appears to be in a fairly good mood.
The Judge meanders closer to Claude and the soldier who holds onto her by the shoulder. "Does a clever denouncement mean anything when spoken by a criminal? What does it mean for one such as you, whose ego is her downfall, and brains clearly lacking to escape being detained?"

Perhaps in his old age he has become predictable, a liability, soft even, but for Lilian he would be whatever she wanted. It is a hard reminder for himself that there is no danger out here. After being aboard the Leviathan for so long, and engaged constantly with hostile demeanor and words, being entirely at ease feels too simple. A learning process that she only ever seems keen on working towards, Jarvis offers the soft breath of a laugh as reward for her question.
Moving as instructed- a ridiculous notion when considered in any other context, he is careful to mind just how his form moves alongside her own. It is his natural mindfulness when every part of him was adjusted to the sharp edges of an armor that no longer clung to him like a second skin. Long gone now is that need, and yet, he cannot even notice just how he keeps that space between them. Just as her hand moves he replicates the motion, though his own is further out of view, intention masked between the two of them until he speaks.
"I believe the only acceptable demise for any Magister is done while defending their home, however," he murmurs into the space between them while his hand makes itself known. Two fingers brush through her folds, the padding at the base of those digits rubbing into her clit with clear intention. "-the suggestion that being inside you spells my end certainly doesn't dissuade me from wanting to do exactly that."
"If you will let me, of course," he continues as if her intent hadn't been that all along. The two of them had been together long enough that reading each other's actions were like a poem recited. They knew the lines like the back of their own hands and this was their most repeated performance.
What did their neighbors think of them?
Maybe they were lucky enough to be entirely oblivious to the pair that constantly took advantage of so much time within one another's company. It was a miracle that Jarvis had lived long enough to claim this remarkable feat; a Judge Magister never retired, they were only ever buried. The scars lining his toned figure would suggest plenty that his longevity might very well be a gift in and of itself. Few survived what happened to his fleet, himself nearly departing the world. To not only have lived, but be given a release from his post and good biddings, is something marked down in a history book somewhere certainly.
@5judgements . from here
To bring the magistrate in charge of the 13th bureau to his knees (quite literally) had been a shared dream among Bhujerbans - not many were willing to accept the ostensive presence of Archades in the Sky City, manifested in the judge's visits (and threats) to the Marquis while inspecting the mines. The dancer had been among them once, as well - determined to bring a horrible fate to him, scared and alone as many of her compatriots when they perished during the war.
And yet 'Melissa' was no more - the elaborate identity created by Ondore, the web of lies carefully constructed to entrap the weaker link among the feared group of officers (or so it was supposed at the time). The fact that would-be-murderer and potential victim had married, moved away from the imperial power seat and traded such words with fond smiles and tender caresses was testament to how much the Resistance had failed in that aspect.
But the war had been won through other means - perhaps one day Ondore too would be able to forgive his agent, and Lilian would feel less of a traitor to set foot in her homeland.
For now, home was the Phon Coast - surrounded by the sea instead of the clouds, but freeing in a different sense. Even if their complicated story had been left behind in Archades and their neighbors just believed the newlyweds to be a regular couple like many other settlers (despite the fact that the imposing aura of a judge was never truly gone, even without armor), the past came alive during their conversations. Even if they were devoid of resentment, transformed into teasing remarks more than anything else.
Lilian's right hand traced the visage of her husband, diligently moving over every inch of skin before settling under the chin, finding room in-between her legs. For a moment, her honeyed hues were impossibly tender - full of affection and kindness for the one who held her country by the throat and yet who sacrificed everything to see her safe.
The Bhujerban had learned to love the enemy and no one ever saw it coming.
"In your back? You believe me that predictable, kanta?" Lilian smiled, thumb sliding over her husband's lips before leaving his face, wordlessly motioning for him to get closer - by parting her legs and adjusting her weight over the mattress, eventually she had enough room to press two digits to his neck, all the while leaning back and bringing the former magistrate to be over her, trapping the performer against the bed.
"I planned for your throat, of course," the Bhujerban carried on, adding minimal pressure to the area, marking where her final act would have been performed if her own heart hadn't blurred the lines, "Preferably while we were together so you had no means to escape. You would have perished while inside me - I think that would have been merciful," the description came to an end, tempered with a curve of lips and roaming hands that did not match such gruesome depiction.
"Would that have been an acceptable demise for the judge magister Ghis?"
