what are your thought on bell x nia? apologies if you've answered this before, i couldn't find it!
i'm pretty okay with any ships that aren't blatantly problematic or dismissive of their canon sexualities (like claude x female character). i don't think i've ever explicitly said any characters are strictly straight so i'm fine w/ them being shipped w/ whoever as long as it's not something obviously taboo, so i'm fine with nia x bell.
as for how i feel about it personally, i think it's a very cute ship! as far as all the girl pairings go, that one's probably my favorite.

If given the chance, would Rex’s scion throw a brick too?
i think if given the chance, it would commit most acts of violence against most people

Ok I know you literally just said you like to leave some of the technical details up to interpretation, but. And I'm sorry if you've been asked this before, I can't remember and my brain's been turning it like a rotisserie chicken since the last chapter. How do half blanks survive amniotic fluid in the womb. Do their parents just give birth to a soup and then they just like. emerge with their form from the soup?? If so, easiest birth ever. Or is the amniotic fluid the exception for melting?
im literally answering this one at night when less people will see it bc this is absolutely a question i avoid LOL
reason being, i kinda dont want it to turn into a big joke for reasons i can't quite explain but the short answer is.........yes....... i imagine they are kind of born as gooey blobs and are very easy (albeit probably horrifying) to birth, then probably kind of reform over the next 24 hours.

I've been reading City of Blank for a while now and honestly, blanks are one of my favourite concepts out there. The moral dilemmas, like how families of their faces deal with them, and the blanks becoming aware they killed someone to exist, all that is just excellent food for thought by itself already. I love comics that make me think about them even after I close the tab, and that make me think about what I would do in the situation. And then you get the characters with their own struggles thrown into the whole mix. Even the characters that are jerks like Jericho, you just love to hate them haha. Also, first time I've seen a character with ASPD who's portrayed like an actual person rather than an irredeemable cartoon villain. Keep up the great work!
thank you! honestly that's always one of my biggest goals- making concepts that leave people with ideas to chew on. i know people have definitely said i don't do quite enough with the concept of blanks, but i'm honestly doing everything i can manage in the story, and i think it's kind of okay to leave some stuff for readers to think about (especially from a more technical aspect? Which I see people go on tangents about a lot, and frankly I kinda care less about this component of blanks and more about the social aspects of them)
Though, I have to admit, I'm actually not sure which character you're referring to with ASPD. I assume Claude or Jericho, but I've definitely never said they canonly have that. I did imply that Claude has some personality disorder, but I've been pretty open about saying I'm not comfortable claiming any of my characters canonly have specific mental disorders that I don't have first hand experience with or at least haven't heavily researched. But that said, people are more than welcome to project or headcanon whatever they want, especially if they have more experience with relating to him than me.

I know a bunch of people probably hope Jericho dies at the end of the story after what he did but personally i'd like if he lived on. I think keeping him alive would be a perfect and fitting ending for him if the story ends with humans accepting blanks.
Maybe he will atone with time, or maybe he will keep his toxic and extreme mindset until his mind completely snaps, but whatever happens, him living to see a world where both human and blanks can coexist feels like the most satifactory ending for a character that so deeply rejects such thing can even be possible.
obviously, i can't confirm anything and i don't even wanna say much because people might interpret it as me hinting towards things, but i always love a good theory, if this counts as that. I agree tho! That would be a satisfying end for him. I guess we'll just have to see if the CoB universe even gets to that point though.

In some ways, I fear I've become too attached to City of Blank (not an isolated incident in the least; blame a very lonely childhood in the middle of the woods in literally nowhere). But the blanks are so relatable from top to bottom, as someone with severe identity issues. Rex is more relatable than just a little bit, especially recent chapters where he started coming to terms with his own actions. I've had my own tomato in the mirror moments over the last several months with some of my own behavior in my past. Watching Rex start taking accountability for his actions is kind of healing, in its own way.
At one point, when my mental health was a complete disaster, I wasn't able to keep up with any of the webcomics I love so much. But I kept noticing 66 in a lot of random places more than most other number sets. So I knew my brain definitely really wanted me to get back to reading yours. Your story is so compelling, I think it did things in the past that led to those moments of realization.
All this to say I deeply love City of Blank. Thanks for putting this story out there. I wish you good health, happiness, and stability in life.
well, i hope you aren't ACTUALLY too attached to it, but I appreciate it regardless! Especially the recognition of the themes of identity, which are kind of the heart of what blanks are supposed to be to me.
comments like this mean a lot! CoB definitely started as just a fun shonen-esque adventure, but as time went on, it became a lot more personal and i put a lot of my own struggles, regrets, and perspective into it, and i'm glad that's coming across to at least a percent of readers.

I'll probably offer this as a print eventually without the text because it seems to be the title of some pretty popular copyrighted songs I've never heard of. It was actually drawn to this song tho, which is incredibly jericho coded. Jericoded?

anyway, now that everyone hates Jericho, I have an urge to spend more than 40 minutes on a drawing of him.

Weekly thoughts!
Hooboy, the big episode! First off, I think everyone knows by now that you probably shouldn't read these if you haven't read the latest episode, but I ESPECIALLY mean that this week! Talking about some way bigger than usual spoilers.
Phew, this was a big one, both from a writing and drawing perspective. I actually spent a full day on that last panel alone, but writing it took way longer than usual too. Going back and forth between Bell's speech and Jericho's backstory played perfectly like a movie in my head, but it was really hard to portray it as a comic and it was one of the few times I was struggling with the limitations of the format. I think I pulled it off though, since everyone seemed to follow along fine! So while it was probably just a neat scene to everyone else, I'm rather proud of that haha.
As for the actual contents of the episode, I'm also glad everything hit w/ the majority of the audience for the most part. I know a handful were confused about if that was Bell or Jericho who did that, but to those people, I remind you it's been loooong established Jericho can control his extensions (Bell, Charlie, and Claude. Remember, they all took injections of Jericho's blank space?). Also on that note, Bell does not have her own scion... Only Rex and Jericho do. Bell, Charlie and Claude all took injections of Jericho's blank space, thus get to borrow some of his power. I recommend re-reading ep 80 if you need a refresher.
I do consider this ep kind of a big reveal of Jericho's true colors. I mean, you guys have known he's the main villain for ages now, but this is the ep that reveals his "better world for blanks" act is kind of a façade and what he's really seeking is a worse world for humans. The fall of humans benefitting blanks is just kind of a bonus. I'm glad a few people caught onto this with the fact that one of the worst horrors he experienced was having his autonomy taken away from him, then he proceeds to do just that to Bell.
And speaking of Jericho's horrors- Before this season launched, I dropped a bunch of hints about upcoming things. One of them was that the most disturbing scene (in my opinion) was coming up. I was actually referring to what happened to Kallie. I'm not sure if it was as disturbing to everyone else (I totally get like if Claude's leg thing fucked people up more), but being evaporated into nothingness but not dying was an existential dread that really fucks me up haha. If it fucked even a couple of other people up, then I did my job.
I don't have too much else to say about the contents of the episode. It was so hard to bite my tongue for weeks as everyone predicted pretty much every character but Desmond was gonna get it. I'm sorry I don't have too much else to say about him right now given what happened, but I definitely will in the upcoming weeks.
I guess the only other note I have is I might as well address something that bugs me slightly- It's definitely a minority but there's a handful of people who seem done with the series because "too many things go wrong." To which... I'm not sure what to tell ya. I'm fine with critique and criticism to be clear, but honestly, this is one thing I'm actually really confident I'm good at balancing. I'm not sure where people are coming from with "nothing good ever happens in this series" when this season alone has had probably the cutest and fluffiest scenes. Rex has a canon girlfriend, he had his first kiss with her, Desmond was reunited with his sister and learned to accept himself, Lyss learned to move past her trauma and accept blanks, Rex was reunited with Shnee, Rex's scion turns out to be a puppy dog w/ a crush. I'm aware a lot of these got kind of crushed with this latest ep...but that's.. kind of. the. point??? That's how you write tragedy and impactful scenes??
I dunno, maybe this is personal to me because it's ALWAYS bugged me when someone tells me they think a show is bad because it's "too dark." Like no... It's not *bad* because it's too dark, you just don't like dark themes, and that's okay. I TOTALLY get if CoB has gotten too dark for some people- it's definitely hit some hard themes and subjects, but I don't like to accept that as a critique. It just means it's not for you and that's okay. There's a ton of other great comics that are more light-hearted! I think the TLDR of this is it will always annoy me when people say something is bad just because it's not their taste.
Now. That said... everyone is completely valid in their hate of Jericho. I, however, still love him.

People liking your personal OCs is still such a crazy feeling, I've been doing this for years and ppl asking about them still fills my entire heart with warmth and idk how to handle it
You enjoy this fictional guy I made up for fun?? Whose only content is random artwork or writing made by me and a handful of other artists at most? They have no show/book/game with a large fandom, it's just one person with an art blog?? I love u

just wanted to say that last week's FP episode was such a great gut punch for me, my jaw dropped. it was beautifully done; Bell's and Jericho's stories being told simultaneously was a super effective contrast. Bell's side of things feels like acceptance of the flaws of the present society and moving toward progress in changing it, while Jericho's side feels like total rejection of the flaws of the present society and moving backward from progress to destroy it instead. thus we remain stagnant in this shitty status quo, and Jericho recreates his trauma around his autonomy being taken from him by doing the same to Bell in a way. AND in the process my favorite character is killed. augh it hurts :'-)
i've been a long time reader since the first version was posted on DA and man it's just cool as hell to see how this story has evolved. i really admire and appreciate your dedication to it. i've always found CoB a very unique concept with a ton of potential and i'm so grateful and SO excited to get to see it through to the end after all these years. it continues to impress me more and more as it progresses. i have the webtoon app exclusively to read this lol. thank you for all your hard work creating it!
i got a handful of asks about this week's episode, but i'm gonna respond to this one for now bc it's been sitting here for almost a month since i got it while it was still on FP
first off, i'm glad this ep hit w/ so many people! i'm gonna share my own thoughts soon, maybe tomorrow rather than my usual friday "weekly thoughts." a little off topic and TMI, but i actually got the worst food poisoning of my life last week and I've kinda just been a pile of mush incapable of coherent thoughts since. Today's the most normal I've felt since that all hit tho, so hopefully by tomorrow I'm capable of structuring thoughtful posts again.
But anyway, thank you! I put so much more of my brain power into that ep than I normally do and I'm glad it paid off haha. I'll elaborate more in my weekly thoughts, but it means a lot that people are appreciating it.

Did Bell ever pick/make up her own last name?
Hmm! I don't think so. She doesn't really need one since she doesn't really exist in any legal system, so I don't think she's thought about it much.
...Though I think it's safe to say at this point that she hopes it'll be Kelman some day. :)

It's canon name is technically just "scion" or "Rex's scion" btw! It doesn't technically have a name (the same way Bag Girl didn't for a long time and that was just a way to address her). i personally call it "Edgy" a lot, because even if scion is canon, it can get confusing bc jericho's scion is also just called "scion.". but i like that "King Rex" is basically entirely fandom made and one of the more popular names for it
