self-care plan:
daily mindfulness (10-15 minutes): begin each day with a short mindfulness or meditation session to set a positive tone.
regular exercise (3 times a week): incorporate physical activity, whether it's a workout, yoga, or a brisk walk, to keep your body and mind energized.
scheduled breaks during study sessions: plan short breaks during study sessions to avoid burnout and maintain focus.
adequate sleep (7-8 hours): prioritize quality sleep to support overall well-being and cognitive function.
healthy nutrition: ensure a balanced diet with nutritious meals and snacks to fuel your body and mind.
social connection (at least once a week): schedule time with friends or family to maintain social connections.
creative outlets (weekly): engage in activities you enjoy, whether it's writing, drawing, or playing a musical instrument.
regular reflection (weekly): set aside time to reflect on your accomplishments and areas for growth.
periodic technology detox: take short breaks from screens to reduce eye strain and maintain a healthy balance.
self-compassionate letter:
dear sophia,
as we embark on this new school year, i want to remind you of the importance of self-compassion. this journey may be filled with challenges, but it's crucial to approach yourself with kindness, understanding, and love.
remember that it's okay not to be perfect. mistakes are opportunities for growth, and each obstacle is a chance to learn and become stronger. embrace the process, and don't be too hard on yourself when things don't go as planned.
take time for self-care without guilt. your well-being is a priority, and by nurturing yourself, you'll have the energy and resilience to face whatever comes your way. allow yourself breaks, breathe deeply, and appreciate the small victories.
surround yourself with positivity. seek support when needed, and don't hesitate to share your struggles with friends, family, or professionals. you are not alone in this journey.
celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. acknowledge the effort you put into your studies and personal growth. your dedication deserves recognition, and you should take pride in your accomplishments.
above all, be patient with yourself. you are a work in progress, and every step forward is a testament to your strength and determination. believe in your capabilities and trust that you have the resilience to overcome any challenges that come your way.
wishing you a school year filled with growth, self-discovery, and moments of joy.
with love and compassion,
sophia

portfolio entry #7. blank check challenge
a very wealthy person gave you a blank check and told you to spend the amount you wished for to make yourself happy. what are you going to do with it? make a list of what you want to have. write as many as you want.
h     a fully paid for house for each of my direct family members and myself, in our desired country of choice.
h     complete furnishing for the houses stated above, including decor, to our tastes.
f     latest model of electronic devices for the lot of us (laptop, phone, tv, xbox, ps5, etc.)
f     items in relation to our personal hobbies and interest (paints, books, writing materials, musical instruments, etc.)
c     stylish clothing and shoes that suit our personal style and tastes.
f     fully paid tuition for any course to any institution for the ones looking to further their education, myself included.
answer the following questions:
how would you feel as you do the blank check challenge?
neutral.
which among the items on your list do you like the most? why?
perhaps the electronic devices, since majority of my interests and quality of life depends upon them.
if ever you were given a chance in real life to have one among the list. which would you choose? why?
the houses for all of us, because being able to come home to a house that’s completely yours just hits different.
does your choice different from what you answered in question number 2? why or why not?
yes, because number two comes from a materialistic mindset whereas number three is more of a realistic one.
go back to your blank check challenge list.
put a mark on the left side of each item with the following categories:
b – if the item is related to your body
c – if the item is related to clothes
f – if the item is related or intended for your family
h – if the item is related to home
answer the following questions:
a. which among the categories do you have the most in your list?
f – if the item is related or intended for your family.
b. what do you think these things tell you about yourself?
that i cater to my family the most.
make a reflection paper about the material self.
the concept of the material self delves into the tangible aspects that contribute to our identity, emphasizing the significance of possessions and physical attributes in shaping who we are. as i reflect on this material, i am prompted to consider the intricate relationship between what we own and how it influences our sense of self. our possessions, be they clothing, gadgets, or other belongings, often serve as external expressions of our identity, reflecting personal tastes, interests, and even socioeconomic status.
exploring the material self also raises awareness of societal norms and consumer culture, which play a substantial role in shaping our perceptions of what is valuable or desirable. the constant exposure to advertisements and societal expectations can impact our preferences and, consequently, our material choices. additionally, the environmental impact of our consumer-driven society becomes apparent when considering the life cycle of products and their contribution to issues such as waste and resource depletion.
moreover, the material self extends beyond physical possessions to encompass our bodies and appearance. societal standards of beauty and the pressure to conform to certain ideals can significantly influence our self-perception. this material aspect intertwines with psychological concepts like self-esteem and body image, underscoring the multidimensional nature of the self.
in conclusion, reflecting on the material self invites contemplation on the interplay between our possessions, societal influences, and personal identity. it prompts critical examination of the values we associate with material goods and encourages a deeper understanding of how our material choices shape not only our self-perception but also the world around us.

PORTFOLIO ENTRY #4. Boosting My Self-Esteem
boosting self-esteem and refining self-concept are essential for personal growth and well-being. here are three effective strategies grounded in practical scenarios:
practice self-compassion: treat yourself with kindness and understanding, especially during challenging times. imagine you made a mistake at work that affected a project deadline. instead of criticizing yourself harshly, acknowledge that mistakes happen to everyone. practice self-compassionate self-talk by saying, "it's okay to make mistakes. i will learn from this experience and do better next time." research suggests that self-compassion is linked to greater resilience and psychological well-being (neff, 2003).
set realistic goals and celebrate achievements: break down larger goals into smaller, achievable tasks, and celebrate each accomplishment along the way. for example, if you're learning a new skill like playing the guitar, set realistic milestones such as mastering a new chord or playing a simple song. celebrate these milestones by acknowledging your progress and rewarding yourself with something enjoyable, like a movie night or a relaxing bath. recognizing and celebrating achievements can boost confidence and motivation (locke & latham, 2006).
practice positive affirmations and visualization: incorporate positive affirmations and visualization techniques into your daily routine to cultivate a positive self-concept. each morning, stand in front of a mirror and say affirmations such as "i am capable and worthy" or "i believe in myself and my abilities." visualize yourself succeeding in various aspects of your life, whether it's acing a presentation at work or maintaining healthy relationships. by repeatedly affirming positive beliefs about yourself and visualizing success, you can rewire your brain to focus on your strengths and possibilities (segerstrom & nes, 2007).
by integrating these strategies into your daily life, you can gradually enhance your self-esteem and refine your self-concept, leading to greater confidence and resilience.

portfolio entry #3. the self as a product of modern society among other constructions
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SIMILARITIES IN ALL STAGES OF MY SELF
confidence and sassiness.
still very talkative and chatty.
high sense of fashion.
DIFFERENCES IN MY SELF ACROSS THE THREE STAGES OF MY LIFE
you were a lot happier when you were in Elementary, in High School you were still outgoing but a little less happy, and in College you’ve become more like an adult.
younger self is simple and childlike, teen self is more adventurous and exploratory, and your twenties self is more confident and accepting with having choices different from most people.
there’s a big difference in how you view life as you got older; you became more pessimistic.
POSSIBLE REASONS FOR THE DIFFERENCES IN ME
life circumstance.
various realizations and life lessons as you got older.
constant relocation in terms of school and social circles.

portfolio entry #2. journal 2. my philosophy in life
where do you think people came from? i believe that humans came from evolution and that individuals create their own essence through their choices, which would then have snowballed into the humans we are today. different choices have branched into different conclusions and consequences. why do you think we are here on earth? due to my religious upbringing, i am inclined to believe we were all put here for a reason. what that reason may be may vary from man to man, but it all boils down to influence. we are set to cause a continuous cycle of influence, be it other people or certain aspects of the world; religious wise, scientific wise, technologically or otherwise. what do you think we are supposed to do? humans are made to make the most of their life, to not be wholly burdened by “purpose”. to enjoy and live life to the fullest, whatever that may look like. what is your idea of right or wrong? my moral standpoint is that so long as your choices, decisions, or actions don’t hurt other people, whether that be emotionally, physically, mentally, etc., it is arguably the right thing to do. whatever lies on the other side of the spectrum is wrong. what should we try to achieve? (value) peace. most importantly, inner peace. and that varies from person to person depending on what they prioritize. what should we stay away from? (value) chaos. whatever decision leads to chaos in every meaning of the word is something that should be avoided at all costs. where do we go after our bodies die? there is a waiting room at the end of the tunnel. that waiting room branches off into various rooms depending on your religious standpoint. if you’re not religious, you spin a wheel. who has influenced your ideas about life? mostly the church and my parents, especially if we consider that a large aspect of my childhood was spent with them. early childhood to this day still affects your average adult, whether they know it or not.

portfolio entry #1. introductory activity 1 sa true lang becoming your authentic self
Tumblr media
explanation: i’m constantly bottling up my feelings, shoving them deep down into a dark pocket of space where i don’t have to think about them. which can lead to some very dramatic outbursts whenever i get fed up despite acting like i’m okay. i’m self aware enough to realize that in order for me to heal and become one with my authentic self, i’m going to need to confront each and every one of those tupperwares (refer to the image above) by slowly taking them out and acknowledging each one in order to move on. therefore, i believe that the facet of self that i need to work on the most would be tibay ng loob.
