Enfield 8000, 1974. An electric city car that was developed by Isle of Wight company Enfield Automotive, owned by Greek millionaire Giannis Goulandris. The prototype and early production were built on the Isle of Wight before Goulandris moved operations to the Greek Island of Syros. In total 120 cars were built with 65 used by the Electricity Council and electricity boards in the south of England. The project failed not least because the cars cost as much as a new Rover 2200, also the range was limited to 40 miles but could drop to 15 in cold weather.
