The Baker hate has to stop
I just finished watching a youtube video, the title was something along the lines of "draft picks teams wish they had back. So I watched it and for the most part I agreed until he got to Baker Mayfield. I was so confused because he was literally one of if not the best browns QB to play for them in the last 2 or 3 decades. The man led them to the playoffs for the first time in 2 decades and because they only got there once with him in 4 years you think they would go back in time and pick someone else?
The QB that is often pointed to when creators do this ( because this is far from the first time someone has said this ) is Josh Allen was in the same draft. They could have had Josh Allen!! Sure they could have had Josh Allen, but lets not forget Josh Allen was a project coming out college. Do we really think that Browns organization could have developed him into the QB he is right now? I seriously doubt it.
Lets be clear about something, before Baker Mayfield was drafted the Browns were 0-16. His rookie season they were still a losing team but they had actually won games. They were 7-8-1 with him on the field in 2018. Going from 0 wins in the previous year to 7 with a rookie QB at the helm is a huge difference. An awful team and a completely disfunctional organization drafted a heisman trophy winning QB and he took them to the playoffs in 3 years time while also winning the first playoff game for this franchise in 2 decades. This is no small thing, he accomplished more than any other QB had for that team in the previous years.
I know many people would love to throw around the fact that he had Nick Chubb and when he wasn't injured OBJ on his team , and that he maybe didn't accomplish as much as he should have with guys like that on his roster. Maybe these people are right... about Nick Chubb, not OBJ. He was there with Baker for 3 years and his only 1k yard season was his first season there. He then spent most of his time on IR because he's so injury prone, but when he was available Baker knew how to get him the ball.
Lastly I want to talk about the elephant in the room, his last year there wasn't great by any stretch of the imagination, however he also played threw 2 injuries that year ( not saying that was a good idea, it was bad, he should taken time off to heal ). The man was playing with an injured shoulder and hip, and sure if wanna say it was his non throwing shoulder I'll concede that. His injured hip is a different story though. The hips are a big part of generating power for your throws, turning those hips into a pass to really get it down field is essential and he just couldn't do that like he had in his previous years.
In conclusion, we can not talk about his career ( or anyone else for that matter ) in a vacuum. Where these players end up matters, injuries matter, coaching and interpersonal relationships matter when it comes to this game. Looking at the numbers alone instead of seeing the greater impact a player has on a franchise really dilutes who they were as a player. Baker Mayfield deserved so much better from that rinky dink ass poverty franchise they call the browns. They traded him away and over paid an alleged sex offender to knock the rust in the last six games of the 2022 season in hopes he'll look like he did in 2020 for 2023, when they could allowed Baker to heal and picked up his 5th year option to keep what could have been their franchise QB for a lot cheaper. Instead they went 7-10 with a journeyman QB ( no offense, I love Jacoby Brisett and he played a lot better than 4-7 as a starter for them last year ) and an under performing defense that had a tendency to fail late in games. In short, they got exactly what they deserved.

NFC East
A question was posed on the NFL network, I believe it was good morning football or something... anyways they asked is the path to the superbowl threw the NFC east again this season? I would have to say yes, without a shadow of a doubt yes. Two of the teams are right at the top of the heap and the other two have a lot of potential.
The Eagles:
There is not a lot to say that hasn't already been said. The eagles are the defending NFC champs, the ran threw the NFL last year and flexed on just about everybody on their way to the super bowl. They even made beating the 49ers in the NFC championship look easy when they took out both QB's and forced them to rely on their run game. They lost both OC and DC to new head coaching positions and good for them, they also lost Hargrave to the 49ers and C.J. Garner Johnson to the Lions. two big hits to that dominant defense from last year. They did however pick up some much needed pieces in the draft who can hopefully replace that lost production going into next year.
The Cowboys:
Some say Dak Prescott can't win in the big games, he can't get past the divisional rounds of the playoffs and throws too many picks. Maybe these people are right, but I know what he can do is lead his team to 12 wins in both of the last 2 seasons. One can say what they will about how inconsistent he is, or how he can't be counted on, but anyone who watches this team can see they are a scary dangerous bunch. They lost a TE sure but the gained Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore. Both of these players have been incredible throughout their careers and are going to add considerable talent and experience to this roster, and who knows this might actually be their year (lol it's never their year).
The Giants:
Brian Daboll is a great coach, we all saw that last year. This team overachieved last year, a testament to the importance of great coaching and development. Daniel Jones had a career year and Saquan Barkley was back to his old self after recovering from his injury. The Giants added Darren Waller a dynamic TE from the Las Vegas Raiders, he's had his share of injury trouble in the past which can be concerning, but when this guy is healthy he's dangerous. I fully expect for them to have the same or slightly better results next season.
The Commanders:
If you're looking at the QB situation and thinking this team can't compete next season, I would urge you to rethink your position. Last year this team had a great defense, and a much better offense when Taylor Heineke when was on the field. Two of their QB's from last year are gone and next season they'll be depending on a rookie QB in Sam Howell and league journeyman Jacoby Brissett. Some of Washingtons fans are not too happy about this, but had they watched a bit of film on Brissett from his time with the Browns they would be excited about what this means for them. Last year he was the stand in while Deshaun Watson was serving his suspension for... reasons last year. Jacoby Brissett last season started 11 games throwing for 2600 yards and 12 TD's. Not impressive numbers I know but he was safe and accurate with the ball in his hands. He didn't lose games and was an efficient distributor of the ball. This is exactly what you need when developing a young QB and he can be exactly that for the Commanders.
The teams of the NFC east are all either very good or solid well coached squad primed to surprise the NFL next year. So to be clear, the answer to the question posed at the top of the screen is obviously yes. The NFC east is the exact opposite of my beloved NFC south, absolutely stacked and primed to terrorize the rest of the NFC again next season.

NFL teams, what are we doing
The title is totally misleading, when I say "NFL teams" I really just mean the falcons 8th pick. Last year the falcons had the 5th best rushing attack, aside from Drake London running the ball was the only good thing they did. They could have chosen a CB, LB, or someone to fill in that defensive line, literally anything to bolster the defensive side of the ball. Instead they go for the best RB in the draft.
I mean sure he's great, but this isn't a need for your team right now. Why not fill some holes in that historically awful defense? I'm not sure who they've drafted since they picked him and at this moment I really don't care, I'll check it later I guess, I'm just so confused with this one.
Crazy enough I kind of would have been ok with the falcons taking a QB over a RB with that pick. They may have just signed Taylor Heinicke who is pretty good if I can be honest but he is not the future. He is not their long term solution, he is there just in case Desmond Ridder isn't who they think he is. To be fair to Desmond Ridder he did win a game last year when Marcus Mariota left, but that was the cardinals on their third QB. David Blough was decent but we know when you hire a guy that late in the season you just need a guy who won't fuck things up, which he didn't because he's actually decent but they still lost because AZ was a fucking dumpster fire of a team.
I trailed off there at the end but the point here is the draft (in my opinion) should be used to fill the holes in your team, and your team was as awful as the falcons were last year you really don't have the room to fuck around here.

Drafting QB's
As of late there have been a lot of conversations around the young QB's entering this years draft. The names in so many peoples mouths right are Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Will Levis, and Anthony Richardson. That last name has been mentioned for 2 reasons, 1. his amazing upside 2. his lack of experience or time reading defenses. In many mock drafts have him going to teams to "develop" behind a starter for a year or two. I of course agree, when watching him at Florida he would often drop back and pass the ball almost immediately, there was little to no reading of the defense (from what I saw, I could be wrong).
Sports analyst have him going to teams like the Titans and the Seahawks, which kinda sucks because he would perfectly fit into a team that has no first round pick. The Denver Broncos I think are perfectly suited to develop a talent like his. I look at this like Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers. He sat behind a future hall of fame QB in Aaron Rodgers (likely for longer than he wanted) and now he's being handed the reigns. In my honest opinion this might be an even more favorable situation because Russell Wilson isn't going anywhere and I would assume he would be a much better mentor to a rookie QB than Aaron Rodgers.
On top of that He would have Sean Payton, one of the greatest offensive minds in football to help develop him. I remember hearing the Saints were getting Jameis Winston and I thought this would be a disaster if he has to take over for Drew Brees. He was fresh off of his 33td-30int season in Tampa Bay and they rightly dumped his ass. The Saints scooped him and put him behind a fucking legend where he learned how not to turn the ball over quite as much, and how to call his own shot and take over a game like a real leader.
We saw what happened after Brees retirement, Winston was actually very good. The Saints were 4-2 before he got injured and he was on his way to a redemption season. We then know what happened after that, the team sucked and Sean Payton retired for a while until he could find a better situation and Winston was sent to ride the pine. Sean Payton was also responsible for Teddy Bridgewater looking like a real starter and winning 5 games when Brees was out with an injury. Taysom Hill and Chase Daniels are also notable products of his coaching prowess.
Thinking of Sean Paytons past successes with QB's it would absolutely be the perfect development situation for any young QB. Unfortunately because of the Russell Wilson trade they have no picks or capitol to move up in the draft to acquire him before another team can. So for now this remains but a fantasy.

A look ahead
The XFL has been back for 5 weeks now and I can honestly say, this league seems legit. My initial thoughts of things being a bit scripted have left me and what is left is the feeling that I can really allow myself to fully enjoy the product on the field. The teams seem more settled, and the games are exciting and draw you in. My only gripe is some of the QB play, I know this isn't the NFL but there is at a base level competent QB play (except Marcus Mariota). Now of course there are NFL QB's that probably shouldn't be starting anyways or players on teams where their lack of production is not a reflection of their talent but the team or poor organizational management (Justin Fields).
The XFL has some really QB's don't get me wrong, but they are a few teams who's QB rooms could do with some elevating. The Brahmas, The Renegades, and The guardians are the teams I think of as being in QB limbo. The Brahmas have been better in the last couple of games about this, but the other 2 are very much still suffering from not having established leadership on the offensive side of the ball. This is so important in the context of football, the best example I have of just how important this is comes directly from the NFL QB market.
Daniel Jones, a quarterback universally considered mid just inked a deal for 45 million a year. Watching his film you can clearly see he benefited from fantastic coaching more so than his own skill. That of course isn't to say he has no talent, he still has to make the throws but Brian Daboll knows exactly how to put him in position to succeed. NFL teams know just how hard it is to find "their guy", the guy that can be a leader of men and take control of in times of need, a captain that can go out to see and calm the waters when all seems lost and bring forth from chaos victory and a Lombardi trophy.
What is important to players and GM's at the highest level of professional football is also important for spring league teams and even randoms playing in public parks. Leadership is important, having someone that can elevate the play of others and make the best out of whatever situation thrust upon them is imperative for success. So going forward, the XFL's coaches need to develop in their leaders good decision making to raise the floor of play in the whole league and to make better product for their fans. Right now a lot of the excitement of the game comes from the huge mistakes from lesser passers coughing the ball up due to clear mistakes in decision making instead of big brain QB play.

Big things happening
Tumblr media
The Bears made a major move to get Justin Fields some help on offense. On paper this trade should change everything for them, so why do I feel so skeptical about it? Well lets look at what the bears and Panthers exchanged in this trade. So the panthers would receive their first round pick ( bears had #1 overall pick ), the bears would then receive 2023 1st round pick, ( 9th overall ) 2023 2nd round pick,( 61st overall ) 2024 1st rounder, 2025 2nd rounder and DJ Moore. That's a lot, it's not as if other teams haven't given up a lot for players or picks but the picks are unproven. They come into the league fresh faced and they might not be able to process at NFL speed where literally everyone is good even on the worst teams.
The Bears in my opinion came away from this trade really well better obviously than the panthers, of course they still have to hit on the rest of their trades and free agency signings have to go well, but on paper this gives them 1 major upgrade in player personal and a lot of potential going forward. The panthers on the other hand just gave away their best wide receiver to likely draft a QB at #1 and my question is, Who's he gonna throw to? Then I thought about it, They are likely also going after D Hop. Which of course would be a brilliant idea to bring in this incredible veteran that catches just about everything thrown his way.
The Panthers also focus heavy on their run which was really good after the CMC trade to the 49ers. In theory if they can snag a dangerous veteran receiver like DHop and rely on the running like last year their new QB could start first day and develop behind center. Then there is the question of the other QB's on the roster, Sam Darnold, Pj Walker, Matt Corral, and Jacob Eason are all listed as QB's on this roster per ESPN, Matt Corral being the rookie previously drafted who sat out due to injury last season. What do they do with these players? Are they all getting shipped off to the XFL? ( Sam Darnold might be MVP there just saying ) 4 QB's listed by espn on this roster and surely all of them aren't staying so who becomes a casualty of circumstance?
Tumblr media
Honestly I think a couple get the chopping block. No one knows what they have in Matt Corral so his situation is a toss up. He could be great, or he could be a huge bust but with a new true first round/first overall pick coming in at QB I'm leaning toward him getting the door because they simply don't have much invested in this guy. Sam Darnold and PJ Walkers contracts are no longer listed along the rest of the team. Sam Darnold is an unrestricted free agent and I couldn't even find Pj Walker's contract on Spotrac.com he is however a restricted free agent. Meaning they can match any offer he might get. So they would be wise to bring at least one them back as they produced the most for them last season as a just in case if their pick is a bust or just needs a lot more time to develop. Jacob Eason can go, he's a 3rd year QB that is completely unproven and has no TD's but 2 INT's on his record, he's also the only other active QB contract on the Panthers roster. So, the Panthers need to trim the fat at QB, go after D Hop, and hit on the rest of their picks. If all of this can come together for them the fight for the NFC South becomes very obvious.

Another Week of Football
The XFL chugs along in week 2, 2 more games were played. 1 Game today and 1 Thursday, I was so happy to see Thursday night football again. The Stl. Battlehawks had another comeback victory against a good Seadragons team that is somehow an 0-2 team, and the DC Defenders took a second victory over the LV Vipers in the rain. They were down 6-0 then 6-3 in the third and rallied in the 4th quarter to win 18-6 when they switched gears and started running all over the Vipers defense.
These games have been competitive and exciting to watch, it's not "good" like just having football while the NFL is off line good. No this is just good solid football, I complained that there were some theatrical things I didn't like that made the results one of the games unbelievable. However I recently learned that what might have been staged could have just been a happy coincidence that lead to a more entertaining match up.
This has honestly been a dream for me, I'm honestly a guy who only ever watched football so when the NFL season ended and the NBA finals were over (the NBA plays 82 fucking games so I only ever watch the playoffs) I wouldn't have anything to watch. However I've recently picked up on F1 as well ( since about 2018, when netflix dropped the show drive to survive ) which means I now have football and racing in the spring and summer while I wait for football to comeback in the fall.
So I'm praying these spring leagues catch on and make enough money to stay afloat and maybe even merge one day. That would be something, the USFL and XFL coming together to make another league that can keep us all entertained until the NFL comes back. Or maybe this can just be another place for people to chase their dreams instead of just being a stepping stone. Maybe these hopes are a bit pie in the sky knowing how Americans love their brand and more established names over newer players in the market but damn it a man can dream.

Spring Football is here
This weekend was really good actually. Some major takeaways from the first 4 games: These defensive coaches are really good, the QB play is often strong early and then not so much in the second half, and maybe the rock should have left the theatrics in the WWE. Seriously, the defenses had good days all around except for maybe the sea dragons (of course Seattle's defense isn't great). There were multiple ints in every game, as a matter of fact in the first game the Las Vegas Vipers QB threw 2 pick 6's that turned the game around.
Overall it was interesting to watch, every team was working really hard to figure out their identities offensively and defenses making really good adjustments. The pass rushers were either really good or the O lines were not very good at all. Who knows, I'm guessing they'll have everything figured out at the end of the season.
The only thing that really threw me for a loop was the sea dragon and defenders game. Apparently the defenders fans have a "tradition" of having some sort of beer snake that was taken from them by security I guess. The defenders fans were not having that shit what so ever, so they threw.... lemons? They threw lemons onto the field to protest not having their storied beer snake. This was really confusing because 1. traditions are a feature of time and this was literally their first game and 2. how exactly did they get the lemons to throw on the field?
Why were a group of essentially strangers so organized as to randomly protest anything together at a sporting event, so organized in fact that they all had the same fruit to demonstrate their collective dissatisfaction with the throwing of sour fruit. I immediately realized this was just WWE football, I get that the rock really enjoyed his old job but not everything has to be like that to be entertaining. That part just seemed too fake for me, it was so egregiously fake that I started to question everything that happened. That's not to say it can't work, I mean clearly it works for fans of wrestling but for a sport that's been such a staple and is often called an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and move up to the next level. Will these players be evaluated the same if the games they play are purely for entertainment without the idea that something is actually on the line?
Who the fuck know, honestly the important thing to me is the fact that it's still football season.

On to the next
The Superbowl is over. So what do we do now? Well after the chiefs beat the eagles (the eagles could have won that game but made some huge mistakes) the first thing that came to my mind: the XFL starts this saturday!!! I'm not sure if I'll like it, but it's still, football season. Last year my wife and I swore we would watch the USFL the whole way through and yet the season got completely away from us. This year will be different, this year I will be sure to tune into these games both Saturday and Sunday. Why? Because it's important to support these players for one, they're putting their bodies on the line for entertainment and to feed their families with their talents.
Secondly, the NFL needs some competition. No way they should have a monopoly on the game of football, the professional ranks should be varied so that players and coaches have options.i genuinely think if one of these spring leagues should take off (hopefully both, then a merger, fingers crossed) black coaches being snubbed and jerked around can make accomplish something of worth without having to wait around for the NFL to embrace more progressive ideas. A perfect example that everyone has been talking about is Chiefs OC Eric Beinemey. The man has won 2 superbowls with the Chiefs and has yet to be offered a head coach position.
How is it that a man so decorated with experience gathered behind one of the greatest offensive minds in the game can't get a head coaching position to save his life? Some are suspecting that it's him, that he has or exudes some fundamental flaws as a person. I would ask who doesn't? Not only that, but are his potential drawbacks so much more damning that he doesn't deserve a chance to prove himself as a coach? I've heard that he didn't call plays under Andy Reid, this critique seems to be utilized heavily when speaking about black coaches and almost completely ignored when reviewing the resumes of white OC's and DC's for head couching positions.
When I listen to all of this back and forth about the requirements black coaches need to meet in order to get these jobs, I can't help thinking about the hoops black people used to have to jump through to vote in this country. We were able to legislate this problem away in the greater society but when it comes to jobs it's not like these billionaires are bound by law to hire these individuals, only to interview and pay lip service. I'm not saying they should be required to either, it's just like affirmative action, no one is required to hire you but you do have to be considered if you meet the qualifications. It is then up to you to choose to play the game with these people or to make your own lane and create your value elsewhere.
The NFL like society won't change until we make it change, they'll never see your value while you're trapped in their system and subject to their rule. If I could talk with these coaches I would urge them to forge their paths going forward in a new location. The moment they see what kind of value they're losing they'll reconsider they're choices.

Why so many bots
It doesn't matter what app I'm on there are way too many bots. It's like they follow me everywhere I go. Twitter, tumblr, tik tok.... I just realized my only social media accounts start with a T. Aside from that bit of weirdness the bots are just relentless, no real people see my posts and when they do I get no interactions. Is this the reason bots swarm my page? is the internet taking pitty on me or does the machines learning think no one wants to see this and absolutely bury me.
I want to assume that social media favors the sociable lol and maybe I'm just not the type to thrive at this because my real life friends are lacking a bit. I mean my real friends would be great if I called them lol, but I'm not the best at keeping up with people. I still want to be relevant, I still want to be seen like all humans, I still crave interactions and sometimes I hate that about myself. I wish I could turn it off but that's just about impossible.
I was bullied growing up like non-stop, so not being too attached to people has been to my benefit. Not being tied to one person or group allows the mobility to move around and avoid really difficult situations, even in my marriage I can admit to myself this maybe should have have ended a while ago, but we got pregnant and I'll be damned if my kids grow up like me with a dad that's only available sometimes. A truly inconsistent man with no drive or ambition that didn't really set the best example on how a man thrives in life or truly cares for his family.
I don't know how I got so far off topic lol, rambling in text form is truly an insane thing I need to get checked.

The Steelers future
Three names mean a lot right now when we talk about Pittsburgh football. Kenny Pickett, Najee Harris, and George Pickens. Three guys on a rookie scale deal until at least 2025 (Najee Harris if they exercise the fifth year option). So what does the future hold for these three men? I think as long as they can improve the O-line the future is bright. George Pickens was a break out star his rookie year, Najee Harris continued to walk through defenders and Kenny Pickens improved every single game down the stretch. This is a QB driven league and Kenny Pickett has shown that he is developing into a significant threat in the AFC north. As long as these 3 can grow and develop exactly as they should for the next 2 seasons I can see an AFC championship appearance in 2024/25. They may not win but they can make it, and make it a damn good game, so I'm looking forward to seeing these and what they can produce in the coming years.

What the future holds (N.O. Saints)
What happens now? The season is over, we have some upcoming free agency signings to get done and pieces need to be moved to even think of having a successful season next year. Do the Saints even have the ability to right the ship this off season? All of the sports talking heads are telling us they're in cap hell, there words not mine. Next season they'll return with a defense that is mostly intact and Chris Olave as positives to move forward with. Their is an outstanding QB controversy that needs to be dealt with, and if you ask me it should have been sorted last season. Jameis Winston was the starter and had earned that spot but lost it due to injury, which they assured him wouldn't happen. I don't think the team believes in him the way Sean Peyton did and instead of looking for other opportunities in the league he should be coming back to the Saints. I know this isn't likely to happen but a man can dream.
So the question here, is Andy Dalton coming back for another season or are they letting his contract expire? I think they move on from him. Sure he put up decent numbers but nothing spectacular and the organization is honest they know with better QB play they likely would have beaten the incredibly NFC south. My prediction is they do something stupid like try to grab another mediocre QB in the off season to compete for what should be Winston's job. Jamies Winston Will beat them out and get the starting gig only to be stabbed in the back again if he even gets so much as a cold. Another down year is on the horizon for the Saints sad to say, but maybe if we end up being the losers of the league again the guys upstairs might learn how to run a damn team and get us back in the playoffs.

He did it again SMH
I was talking to my wife yesterday about tonight Cowboys v. 49ers game, she told me after what they did to the Buccaneers they without a doubt were going to win. I told my wife Dak Prescott would throw 3 int's this game against that defense... he threw 2 and a touchdown so I guess he exceeded my expectation. Brett Maher made up for his terrible kicks in the last game by knocking down 2 field goals so I guess that's an improvement. I think this team my be cursed, seriously Brett Maher was clutch all season and Dak threw a lot of int's but when Dak plays perfect and protects the ball this guy has a great game.
Not that it means anything obviously, it just seems like when one thing goes right something or even everything else goes wrong for the team. The Cowboys by any measurement were a stacked team full of stars and the best they could do against a rookie QB in the divisional round was 12 points. Kudos to the OC as well there was a drive that he called up that was damn near perfect that they scored on so he clearly did his job this game, they just failed to execute on the offensive side of the ball. So now the long drought continues. The Cowboys haven't been back to the NFC championship since 1995 and who knows when they ever will honestly. Two 12-5 seasons back to back no NFC championship and you lose in the divisional round to the 49ers again. I think Jerry Jones is going to be rethinking some of his personal choices for next season, I don't expect to see his head coach or either coordinators go but there has to be a change in the organization that can take the talent they have and turn it into some rings.

Divisional Rounds
I think it's so weird we questioned the Eagles and the Vikings earlier this season when they bot got off to some really good starts. The vikings sure, they were super inconsistent and won close games beating much weaker opponents they should have dominated. The Eagles however, should have never been in question. A lot of talking heads said the Eagles might have been paper tigers because of their ease of schedule at that point, and that they hadn't really been tested. I mean sure you can say that at that point in the season they hadn't faced the toughest opponents, but they were dominant and easily out classed lesser teams. This is of course in stark contrast to the Vikings and even the Cowboys who were known to lay a few eggs this season against weaker opponents. Not saying they lost but they would often played down to their opponents level, this was remedied by their almost comically easy win over the Buccaneers. The eagles today came out and utterly dismantled the Giants who seemed to be on a hot streak. Tonight the Eagles proved without a doubt ( as if they hadn't done that already ) that they are the team to beat if you want to make it to the Superbowl.
The Jaguars are going to be a problem next year... I hope, because the way they played the Chiefs today was surprising. The Jaguars were so close to being back in that game and maybe going into overtime that actually thought they could win that game for a second. The soul crushers were Jamal Agnew's phantom fumble and Trevor Lawrence's pick at the end when he took a shot and floated the ball. Had Agnew not dropped the ball before any defenders even touched him they likely would have scored on that drive. The Chiefs got the ball back after that and the Jaguars got a stop and received the punt. Then just when they were marching down the field, Trevor Lawrence is hit as he throws and sails the ball smh. The chiefs get the pick and the rest is history. I pray this team will be back in the playoffs next year, they absolutely deserve it. Doug Pederson's turn around of this team in just one year has been astronomical, they went from a 4 win team the previous year to a legit playoff team worthy of respect. Well fucking done Duval

My Boys...
I debated writing about this, afraid I would sound slightly unhinged. Fuck it though, everyone's a little paranoid and there's nothing wrong with a parent being concerned about their kids safety.
So Thursday I dropped my kids of at school like any other day, no problem. I thought nothing of it until I received a call from my youngest sons school. I picked up the phone and listened for a voice, but no one answered. I said "Hello" what must have been 10 times before hanging up. Then I called the number back, someone in the office answers and I tell them I just received a call and wanted to know what it was about. She explains it was likely a mis-dial on their part so I hang up the phone and that should have been it. It wasn't, I started to think the worst thoughts, even though it was a simple mistake it brought some of my greatest fears as a parent. I wondered if I had watched my son actually walk into the building instead of just assuming he made it in like always.
I got so incredibly paranoid that after I took my shower I pulled both of my sons out of school in the middle of the day. When I got them from school I told them I set up a doctors appointment for the both of them when really I was just so scared that I needed to put eyes on them. So I took them to Burger King, they fucking love Burger King. I got them their favorite meals and some cookies, Then I took them to get the hamster they had been asking me for. They killed the hamster in like 2 days and we have to get them another one but whatever, they don't live that long and I just wanted to make them happy and keep them close to me.
Life is so short, so I treated my kids to something they really wanted and maybe spoiled them a little bit. Who even cares though?! I needed to clear my mind of anything that might have happened and if that means I spoil my kids sometimes I don't care. I just wanted them close to me and to know they were safe and if I feel like that again I'll do it again. To know they're safe and secure with me and not out in the world being taken advantage of or hurt is the only thing that really matters to me in those moments.

The end of an era? probably not lol
Tom Brady was absolutely humiliated by the Dallas defense, I mean it really wasn't pretty. He of course had his moments in the game being that he's the G.O.A.T but this game was not close. There were a few series at the beginning that made you think it might be a defensive struggle, but after those hiccups the Dallas offense took off. They flexed their star power all over the field and played up to their talent level instead down to their opponent and when they do that great things happen.
Per the usual the Buccaneers couldn't run the ball a lick, Tom Brady was under constant pressure, and their receivers couldn't get much separation. They were out classed in every sense of the word, but what does that mean for Tom Brady who threw the ball over 60 times in a loss to the Cowboys? Does he leave the game as the greatest quarterback to have ever played the game, that maybe stayed too long and realized the price he paid for greatness was way too steep? I highly doubt it, there are already rumors that he might be linking up with his old offensive coordinator in Las Vegas for one last run at the Superbowl. Some talking heads have him going to Miami and even staying in Tampa Bay, (I don't think so but you draw your own conclusions) I honestly think he should retire. What more does he have to prove?
This man has been to 10 Superbowls and won 7 of them, this man has been to more Superbowls than some franchises have. Just getting to the dance is an astronomical undertaking and to get there 10 times is incredible, as good as Patrick Mahomes is he might never go to that many Superbowls. He's proven he's not a system QB, and that it wasn't all Belicheck and his scheming. As far as accolades he has them all, the man is decorated like a christmas tree (in upper middle-class homes). If Tom Brady were to walk away from the game right now even after this bad season and that terrible loss, we can still remember the good times. However I think if he comes back it looks pathetic, he already gave up his marriage and family for a game that he said he would no longer play if it wasn't fun anymore. Tom, the game doesn't look fun anymore and the longer you stay the worse it looks, take a page from Cliff Kingsburry's book and take a long vacation some where tropical.

More Craziness
The Bengals:
If it wasn't for a 98 yard scoop and score the bengals would have been watching the rest of the playoffs from their couches. I mean honestly when the ravens came so close to to winning with their greatest weapon sidelined and the backup QB throws as many touchdowns as your star QB it's safe to say they won't be going back to the superbowl. That is of course, unless the Chiefs really just can't beat them. I mean seriously, the Ravens best receiver was out ( I know its Marc Andrews but he's a tightend not technically a receiver ) and so was Lamar Jackson, but they were able to not only get back in the game but tie it and march the damn ball all the down to the one yard line before that fumble for the scoop and score. There is no doubt in my mind that had Lamar Jackson played even in his limited state they would walked away with this win in a not so dramatic fashion. The Bengals got lucky and they better cross their fingers that they get more breaks on their way to the AFC championship if they want to have a chance to make it back to the big dance.
The Vikings vs. The Football Giants
The Giants are a legitimately well coached team, much like the Jaguars things have really gone their way this season because of the man at the helm right now. Brian Daboll needs to win coach of the year, and there should no competition. Anyone who can take Daniel Jones and lead him to a playoff win (all be it against the most obvious paper tigers in the 13 win Vikings) deserves someone sort of award or recognition. Speaking of the Vikings, I know it must suck to be one of their fans right now. I don't want to call them pretenders because they did win 13 games and they did beat some good teams i.e. the Buffalo Bills, but when they lost they lost bad. They only had 4 total losses on the season but they lost them so badly that their point differential was -3. For a team with 13 wins on the season to have a -3 point differential means they can't win in a convincing way even when playing lesser teams. I wouldn't put this on the coach because he's been good this whole season, I would have to say the defense and Kirk Cousins have truly failed this team. His decision making at the end of the game with everything on the line was piss poor. If the Vikings were serious about getting to the Superbowl next year they would be making a play for Derek Carr or making Geno Smith an offer he can't refuse. I know he said he wants to retire in Seattle but if the monies right he'll do what's best for his bank account, at least I hope so because after this season he can demand a kings ransom and he likely won't get that playing for the Seahawks next year.
