# Chapter 1
She's nothing more than another hurried traveler, stepping off the plane into a whirlwind of sound and motion. It takes less than a few seconds for the city's intensity to hit her, a rush of energy that nearly knocks the breath out of her, the fresh air filling her lungs. Y/n blinks, astonished and jittery as the immediacy of her new life unravels. She makes her way through the airport, each step pulling her deeper into Seoul's restless, beating heart. By the time she's caught a train and found herself wheeling her bright red suitcase (her mom affirms bright sutcases are easier to spot) , the anxious buzz in her stomach blooms into exhilaration, her resolve taking form amid the dizzying tempo of lights and people. And with every moment, the boundless city stretches out wider, as if welcoming her to get lost within it.
The air is a bundle of voices and announcements echoing through the terminal, blending uneavenly. She's swept along by the current of bodies, every face and voice a reminder of just how far she's come. But beneath the layer of noise, beneath the tension wound up tight in her chest, there is a glimmer of excitement-- small and steady. It's a feeling she's only imagined before now. Her hand grips the strap of her bag with determination, a lifeline amid the chaos. Seoul already looms large, unfamiliar. As she emerges into the open, her feet find purchase on concrete, the feeling grounding her to something more familiar, reminding her of the long, quiet, Canadian roads.
Outside, the air is cool against her face, thick with the scent of something fried and savory that makes her stomach growl from starving for hours, ‘cause plane food is BAD bad. She doesn't pause to second-guess herself. Instead, she moves, swallowing the initial tremor of hesitation. The motion is constant; cars sweep by, and people hustle with cell phones pressed to their ears. The urgency around her is electric, pulsing in tandem with her own anticipation. On the crowded platform, she doesn’t fight the smile that creeps to her lips as the train rushes toward her, a burst of wind announcing its arrival, making her hair flow satisfyingly.
The train rattles as it plunges forward, and she rocks with the rhythm, perched on the edge of a plastic seat with her luggage clutched between her knees, her bag on her ever-moving knees. A student sits beside her, a beanie pulled low over his ears, scribbling furiously into a notebook. Across from them, an older woman rifles through her shopping bags. It's a scene she's never known and yet instantly familiar, like a movie come to life. The enormity of her leap settles heavy and exhilarating in her bones.
Through the window, buildings crowd the horizon, stacks of concrete and steel that blur together, then pull apart. The city seems to shift and rearrange itself, new layers unfolding at every turn. It's impossible to catch everything, but Y/n drinks it in greedily, trying to imprint the strangeness on her memory. Her fingers tap an unconscious rhythm on her suitcase, reflecting the uneasy yet impatient feeling growing in her chest. She lets the sound of it mix with the chatter of voices around her.
Another train stop, another exchange of passengers. She watches the people come and go, feeling herself pulled into the tide of them. There's a thrilling anonymity in it, the way she knows no one, and doesn’t have a clue what their life looks like, it feels chilly...yet so new. That’s it. A new start. She closes her eyes, just for a moment, letting the sensation wash over her. It vibrates through her veins, shaking loose the last of her fears. The buildings press in again, thicker now, taller, and she knows she's close. Her eyes snap open with renewed focus. When she gets off at her stop, the flow of the city catches her up, and she allows herself to be carried, a little overwhelmed by all the informations thrown at her, especially the way the people around her carry themselves, a quiet understanding between passengers, knowing what to do and where to go at all times.
The streets pulse with the throb of neon lights, red and green and electric blue. An extraordinary mix of artificial lights, creating an unexpected balance of colors. Signs hang in every direction, bold characters stacked high and slightly intimidating. She struggles to read them, but the invitation is clear: come inside, stay awhile. It's a dare she plans to take, but for now, her destination is set. She follows the grid of unfamiliar streets with her phone held in front of her like a compass, navigating by instinct and pixels, although mainly pixels. Her suitcase rattles across pavement as she dodges scooters and the press of bodies, exhilaration stomping down her exhaustion in every step.
The scent of roasting chestnuts, something spicy and pickled, hits her all at once, and her stomach clenches again in hungry rebellion. She's running on excitement and airplane peanuts (which really were the only thing looking relatively sane enough to eat in the plane). She smiles at the absurdity of it, because it's enough for now, more than enough to keep her going. She tucks herself tighter into her jacket and soldiers on. The crowds thin just slightly, enough for her to breathe, and that's when she knows she's close. She looks up to find the next cross street, squinting to match the characters to her screen.
Each breath leaves her in a visible cloud as she steps onto Yonsei's campus. The buildings here are a study in contrasts: sleek glass rising up beside brick and stone facades, ancient and modern elements pushing at each other, coexisting in the same confined space. It's a mirror of her own feelings, the blend of old and new. Students stream past her, chattering in small groups and walking with an air of determined focus. The chaos narrows, taking on a familiar rhythm of academic life that makes her feel unexpectedly at home.
For a moment, she pauses, allowing herself to take it all in. The enormity of it, the reckless certainty that brought her here, and the way she seems to fit into the scene more than she had ever hoped. Then she turns on her heel and pushes forward, her pace just short of a run. She scans the signs for direction, weaving through the currents of students. The library is a beacon, a steady point in the crazy swirl around her.
She slips through the doors, and the rush of the city falls away, replaced by the quiet murmur of studious intent. Y/n pauses, letting the calm settle over her. The rows of books are neat and endless, and the polished tables are full of people hunched over laptops and textbooks. It's an oasis of familiarity in her new world, and she releases a breath she hadn't known she was holding. The impulse to explore tugs at her, and she follows it down a narrow aisle, whiwh, maybe, wasn’t the greatest idea as she still held her big suitcase behind her. Her fingertips brush the spines of books as she walks, each one a small reassurance.
At the far end of the aisle, she nearly collides with someone coming from the opposite direction. Y/n stops short, startled, and then finds herself face-to-face with a girl about her age. She has striking features and an effortless grace that makes Y/n momentarily stunned. But the feeling vanishes when the stranger's expression softens into a smile.
"Sorry," Y/n mumbles, taking a step back. "I wasn't watching where I was going."
"Neither was I," the girl replies, her voice smooth and without a hint of reprimand. "First day?"
"Does it show?" Y/n asks, and there's a touch of humor in her own voice now.
"A little. But i’d say it’s mainly this." The girl tilts her head, staring at Y/n’s suitcase. She shifts her books to one arm and holds out her hand. "I'm Minjeong."
The gesture is so open and easy that it catches Y/n off guard. She recovers quickly, shaking the offered hand. "Y/n," she replies, her own smile growing.
There's a moment of shared silence, not quite awkward but full of possibility. Minjeong nods to the bookshelves surrounding them. "Looking for anything in particular?"
"No," Y/n says, and for the first time all day, it's not a lie, she’s not lost, nor really looking for something, and somehow that feels perfectly okay.
Minjeong seems to understand. She tilts her head, giving Y/n a curious glance that holds the promise of future conversations. "Well, I'll see you around, Y/n."
"Yeah," Y/n agrees, feeling a surge of unexpected warmth. "Definitely."
As Minjeong walks away, Y/n remains where she is, rooted to the spot. The encounter was brief and unscripted, yet it leaves her feeling anchored, more certain than when she first arrived. She watches until Minjeong turns the corner, disappearing from view but not from her mind.
Eventually, she finds her way to a table near the windows, the city sprawling in every direction beyond the glass. She sits and turns on her phone again. Her mom had sent her a few messages, she had received others from her friends back in Canada, wishing her good luck on her first day.
When she finally stands to leave, the library is emptying out. She steps back into the coming sunset, the sky getting more yellow every minute, the air cool and crisp, as alive as when she first stepped into it. Her exhaustion is finally catching up, but she barely notices, her mind still buzzing with the thrill of newness.
She moves through the campus, struggling to find her dorm number in the exessively long email sent by the university. Oh, there it is. 356. Third floor then ? She heads to the lift before groaning at the wide "Out of order" sign. Y/n grips her suitcase with both hands, mumbling small curses as she lifts it off the ground, slowly heading up the stairs. Finally, she drops the suitcase as soon as she reaches the third floor. She looks around mumbling to herself. She walks through the long corridors before stopping in front of room 356. Guess this is it? She grips her keys, a mixture of dread and excitement coursing through her as she twists the door knob.
The room is bigger than she expects, but welcoming, lived-in. One side is neatly organized, clothes folded in precise stacks. The other is more chaotic, populated by loose papers and a smattering of colorful pens. The third is empty, soon won’t be as Y/n is far from tidy. Y/n takes in the contrasting sides, feeling a strange sense of ease. A sign, hastily made, sits on the bare mattress: "Welcome, Roomie!" It makes her smile. A series of rapid footsteps echo from the kitchen, and before she can register the sound, a girl bursts in, breathless and grinning. "Y/n?" the girl asks, barely pausing to catch her breath. She pushes her long hair back and peers at Y/n with bright, expectant eyes. A nod, a relieved exhale, and then, "I'm Yunjin! I thought you'd never get here," the girl says, her voice a melodic rush. "We were betting you got lost!" Y/n tries to summon her dignity, but the laugh escapes first. "Almost," she admits, the warmth of Yunjin's welcome dissolving the last of her nerves. -----------------------
After an excited tour by Yunjin, a tall, graceful girl walks out of the bathroom, freshly out of the shower.
"Oh hello, you must be Y/n? I’m Wonyoung, it’s nice to meet you." The girl calmly says, a warm smile on her face as she dries her lustuous hair with a small towel.
"Uh, yeah, I am. Nice to meet you too, Wonyoung!"
"You’ll see she’s not actually that stuck up when you get to know her." Yunjin whispers in Y/n’s ear.
Y/n softly giggles at Yunjin’s comment, feeling a warm sense of belonging settling in her chest.
She is here, and there's no way she’s turning back.

Chapter 9: "Missed apology"
Part of the series: "The Neighbor"
Warning: swear words?, mentions of injury
A/n: Short chapter!
prev - masterlist - next
Looking up from her phone y/n, who was laying on the infirmary's bed, furrowed her eyebrows once she saw how angrily Minji was typing her phone. Stress started to creep in as she prepared herself to speak, thinking of the right words to apologize to the girl in front of her.
Y/n wasn't one for confrontation, usually letting Hyein do the talking in compromising situations. Unfortunately, Hyein wasn't present and as s much as her sister hoped she'd show up to speak instead of her, she knew the chances were a little too slim.
After a few seconds of silence, she opened her mouth. Mustering all her strenght just to utter a few words of apology, stress gnawing at her guts.
"Minji, right? I just wanted to say-" y/n started, awkwardly looking between her hand and the furious girl in front of her before being cut off.
"Lee Y/n and Kim Minji?" A deep voice called, the door opening.
Both girls turned their heads towards the newcomer. Upon recognizing the principal of the school, Minji bowed immediately. Y/n struggled to do the same, her head hurting as she bent her body on the bed.
"Y/n, I heard about your incident at the football court, I hope you're doing okay and that you will recover fast. But I'm not here for that. You both have probably heard of the way the clubs preparing the homecoming dance are chosen?"
Y/n looked dumbfounded, as she had never been invested enough to search that information out. She hadn't gone to the homecoming dance the previous year, she stayed at home with Haerin and Hyein, not wanting to leave her sister alone... Especially durin that time.
Minji looked like she knew where this conversation was headed, and it didn't seem to make her very happy...
The principal looked at y/n, raising an eyebrow at the confused expression of his student.
"Well, I guess not. The clubs preparing the homecoming dance are chosen randomly a few months before the homecoming dance. The Robotics club and the Cheerleading team have been chosen this year as organizers." He looked at y/n first and then turned hus head towards Minji.
"Alright that was what I needed to tell you, hopefully the collaboration works well! Minji, you can go back to your team now."
The principal walked out, Minji right behind him. The girl was glaring at y/n, her fists clenched in frustration.
Y/n was now alone in the infirmary, her eyes still wide from disbelief.
"She's really mad, this is bad..." Y/n mumbled.
-------------------------
Laying in her own bed Y/n was scrolling through her phone, sipping her tea quietly. Her back against a comfortable cushion, her legs were underneath the covers. Saying she was comfortable was an understatement.
Suddenly, in the middle of a very weird 5 minutes craft video, she received a message. Not knowing this message would, in the end, change her mood for the rest of the evening.

Chapter 7: "The game"
Part of the series: "The neighbor"
Warning: swear words, mention of injury, lying
A/n: Took me quite a long time but I had problems with the app that makes the texts (I got angry 😅😭) And don't look at the time stamps they're not relevant.
prev - materlist - next
The hallway was filled with hurried movements, the ruffles of coats and the soft sound of a plastic made zipper echoed through the entry of the Lee house.
Haerin was sitting on the floor, busy sliding on her red shoes, the air force 1 "Nike x Louis Vuitton" that her parents bought her for her birthday. The shoes complemented her outfit perfectly, beige pants, a green and white top and red beanie to complete the look.
Y/n stood close to the door, her hand on the knob, ready to rush outside. She was already dressed, an extra wide pair of pants with a large T-shirt that fell perfectly on her shoulders, making her silhouette looked thin and muscular even while being quite covered by the oversized fit.
"Hyein-ah! We're late! Hurry up!" Y/n said, sounding a bit irritated by the tall girl's lack of time estimation skills.
"I'm almost ready unnie, just give me five more minutes!" The younger sister shouted from her room.
"Yah! You said that 15 minutes ago!" Y/n retorted, rolling her eyes.
Ten minutes later, Hyein rushed out of her room, brushing her hair while jumping on one leg, struggling to put her second shoe on with one hand only. She looked gorgeous, her hair in a half - bun, big loop earrings hanging off her ears, which were slightly hidden by a strand of hair falling off her messy bun. A light but embellishing makeup on her eyes and lips added a refreshing touch to her perfectly designed look.
"Are you ready now? Can we go? We're gonna be so late !!" Y/n said exasperated by her sister's slow way of getting ready, but also quite surprised by Hyein's stunning look.
"Yep! Let's go, I'm so excited!!" Hyein answered with her usual excited tone.
---------------
Haerin, Hyein and Y/n were standing in front of the school stadium's gate, breathing loudly after runningthe whole way there.
"I can't let you in, we've closed the entry, I'm very sorry." A tall boy wearing the school's soccer jersey inscripted with the number 8 and "Nishimura" in bright white letters on top of a dark blue base, the team's emblematic color.
"God damnit! I'll have to send a message to Dani saying we couldn't make it then..." Y/n said turning her back to the gate while letting out a loud sigh.

-----
"Guys! I'm here, hurry!" Dani said opening the gate with the keys she had stolen from Minji and beckoning them towards her.
"Dani?!" Y/n exclaimed loudly, her eyes becoming much wider after hearing her friend's voice. "I didn't think you were actually coming!"
Haerin pulled the two other girls by the sleeve, quickly dragging them on the other side of the gate.
"Thanks unnie! How did you get those keys though?" Hyein said, bowing slightly to express her gratitude towards the other girl.
"Oh! Don't worry about that!" Danielle responded winking towards Hyein, a smirk forming on her lips.
"I have to go now, see you after the game!" The cheerleader exclaimed happily before running out on the three girls.
"Well that was unexpected!" Y/n said laughing at the silhouette of their friend reaching her position with the other cheerleaders.
The three girls then made their way to free seats near the front. Weirdly enough these free seats were quite acceptable!
The first half of the game went by pretty quickly, the opposing team struggling to access to the ball even once. The difference in skills was very obvious... Y/n noticed that Haerin's gaze kept flickering towards the cheerleaders (or one in particular).
She observed Dani, too, noticing how graceful and comfortable she was being literally thrown in the air. Her hair was whipping all around her in a beautiful but messy dance.
When the referee whistled the end of the first half, most of the supporters got up to fetch food or to stretch their legs. Hyein asked to go but some food and y/n agreed, too week to ever say no to her little sister.
"Haerin, do you wanna come with us, I'll buy you a drink!" Y/n said offering a hand for Haerin to stand up.
"I'll come with you but I'm not very thirsty."
"Not even for a strawberry and banana milkshake?"
"I mean.... If you're offering..."
Y/n grinned at Haerin's response, grabbing her best friend's hand to help her from her seat. All three girls were now waiting at the far end of the queue leading to the booth. Y/n stuck her head out of the queue to check on the remaining time of the break: only 5 minutes.
Just in front of the three girls stood a fellow member of the robotics club, Yunjin. y/n spent a few minutes talking about their newest project, a talking robot, responding to any questions based on animals. Random? Yes. But they didn't have a lot of members... or a lot of ideas. Y/n being the club's best engineer, had been named the leader: organizing the projects and finding the right pieces for the team. It wasn't a lot of work and Y/n enjoyed it so much that she agreed to take the role of club's president happily.
After a few more minutes of waiting, they finally reach the shop. Ordering a strawberry and banana milkshake for Haerin, sugar flavored popcorn for Hyein and coke for herself, she instructed the two other girls to sit back down in their seats, deciding to wait for their order by herself.
The game had already started again when y/n finally reached out her arms to grab her food. The popcorn amount was a lot bigger than expected, although she knew Hyein would have no problem eating that amount of sugar-concentrated food. In fact, Hyein had always been one to eat quite a lot, usually stuffing her cheeks like a squirrel before chewing it all down.
Y/n, although older than Hyein, was always smaller, much like their oldest sister, both of them eating less than normal proportions of food. As for their parents, their mom was a very picky eater, resulting in her usually eating less than needed, as for their dad, he was a splendid cook, but his rules were clear "if you make the food you eat the food" meaning he would always eat two whole plates of whatever was cooked that day. As y/n walked along the side of the court, deeply lost in her cherished family memories, she hadn't noticed a silhouette going particularly fast towards her.
Sensing a presence mere inches away from her faces she looked up, only to be met by sharp pain to her nose. Her ankle still not being completely stable from her recent escapade, she fell back slamming the back of her head to the green ground of the football court.
Feeling hot liquid streaming down her face, she reached her hand to her nose, her head dizzy but still able to distinguish the clear scarlet red splattered all over the palm of her hand. Then suddenly she heard a familiar person calling for her, horror laced all around the usually cheerful voice. "UNNIE!!" Struggling to keep her eyes open she managed see her younger sister reaching for her bloody face before closing her eyes, pain and dizziness taking over her body.

The soft sounds of sleepy feet hitting the wooden floor, birds chirping cheerfully and the low hubbub of a calm conversation right underneath the window, that was the warm sounds that filled y/n's ears, slowly making her eyes flutter open. Stretching all her limbs like she hadn't gotten out of bed for years, y/n rolled to the other side of her king sized bed with a growl. She reached for her night stand, searching her phone lazily. She checked the time, 6:30.
With a sigh, she used her arms to sit up on the side of her bed, bending down to reach for her slippers. Finally standing up, she grabbed her crutches and groggily made her way to the living room, already finding Haerin and Hyein sat down at the table. Haerin looked like she needed at least 10 more hours of sleep, her eyes struggling to stay open as she stirred her little spoon in her coffee mug. Right in front of the half asleep girl, Hyein looked like she needed at least 10 less hours of sleep, her eyes were bright open, and she was already babbling about some game she played, while happily buttering her bread. As Y/n approached the two girls, they both swung their heads towards the newcomer.
"Unnie are you okay? Does your ankle still hurt? Is it swollen? Are you sure you can go to school right now? If you can't I'll stay with you. Just tell me." Hyein said, not once breathing between the sentences. "Hyein, calm down, I'm fine!" Y/n responded, gently patting her younger sister's back as she sat next to her.
-------------
After closing the wide front door behind them, the three girls head towards the bus stop. Y/n struggled to walk at a normal pace, so they unfortunately saw the bus stop while still way too far to catch, it was impossible for y/n to run, so she told the others not to wait for her.
"I'm not leaving you here, y/n" Haerin said, looking y/n dead in the eye.
"I'm not leaving either unnie!" Hyein agreed, forming a fist.
"Hyein, your bell rings 15 minutes earlier than ours, you really have to go!" Y/n said seriously. "I don't want you being late!"
"But Unnie..." Hyein said looking worriedly at her sister.
"Go, you'll miss it!" Y/n replied gently, but with a serious intent.
Hyein ran off, holding her backpack on one shoulder, while whipping out her bus card.
"I'm being serious though, are you okay?" Haerin said, looking at her best friend, a glimpse of worry on her sharp features.
"Well, it hurts quite a bit, but it's really manageable." Y/n responded, matching Haerin's seriousness.
------------
The entrance of their school was a particularly large dark green gate, which was slid open to the right. Guarding the gate, was the student council president Sim Jae-yun otherwise known as Jake, and his secretary, Hwang Yeji. As the two friends walked past the gate, a familiar face came to greet them. It was a blonde haired girl, with gleeming milk chocolate brown eyes and an even more beautiful smile, which was shining right at them. This smile, of course, belonged to no other than Mo Danielle, one of the school's nerdiest but most gorgeous girl.
"Hey Y/n, hey Haerin!!" She said in an excited manner.
"Hi Dani!!" Y/n exclaimed, matching the other girl's energy.
"Hi Dani." Haerin said, much more softly. Although it sounded like she was annoyed, the two other girls knew it was just her way of expressing herself. After a beat of awkward silence, Danielle opened her mouth wide in shock quickly covering it with her left hand while her right hand pointed at Y/n's ankle, finally noticing the crutches too.
"Omg, y/n, are you ok????" She said, now bending to take a closer look at y/n's neatly wrapped bruise.
"Haha, I'm fine~! I just twisted my ankle, nothing too bad." Y/n said giggling at Danielle's shocked reaction.
The three of them then walked towards their first class of the day, talking and laughing along the way, their bursts of laughter sometimes making heads turn in the hallway.
-------------
It was now lunch time as y/n and Haerin walked out of their 4th and last class of the morning.
"We have two hours to eat, should we go check out that new coffee/restaurant place, it seemed cheap enough!" Y/n asked, coming to a halt as they arrived to their shared locker. "Sure, I've been wanting to taste their burgers and fries, it looked heavenly on the add!" Haerin responded eagerly, clapping her hands in an excited gesture. Haerin was usually a very calm person, but she opened up and showed interest in everything she does with y/n, her cold demeanor melting in an glowy and radiating personality. Y/n was her comfort person.
Y/n clumsily used her crutches to close the locker's door, her left hand gripping its crutch like a spear, while the right hand was desperately trying to hold y/n's weight. Balancing weirdly, she stepped on her wrong foot (the sprained one) and had the reflex to jump on the other one resulting in a very unstable position, while still trying to close the locker. Haerin was searching the right itinerary to the coffee place, hearing y/n squeal in pain, she lifted her head from her phone, watching helplessly as y/n slipped and ended on her butt, both feet in the air, as her crutches fell painfully hard on her face. Haerin and Y/n bursted out laughing after a few seconds of silence and shock. Haerin held out her hands to help y/n up, struggling to do so as the both of them were still laughing so hard. After regaining their composure, Haerin decided to close the locker door herself, teasing y/n in the process. Haerin then showed the way to y/n and the two best friends headed to the coffee/restaurant slowly, knowing it was far enough from school for there to be almost to no queue.
----------------
After a short 20 minutes walk, they stepped into a small street.
"We're here!" Haerin said checking the city's map on her phone.
They both entered the coffee shop, arms holding endearingly, their shoulders tightly squeezed, leaving no space between them.
Haerin and Y/n sat down on two gery fake-leather sofas in front of each other separated by a medium-sized dark brown wooden table. They waited for about 5 minutes before y/n decided to head to the counter, not wanting to waste anymore time sitting. Behind the counter, a small girl wearing an apron was busy looking at her phone. She lifted her head, their eyes now locked on each other's face.
"Y/n! It's so good to see you!" Her face lit up in surprise as she quickly turned her phone, the screen now facing the counter.
"Hanni! I didn't know you worked here!" Y/n said energetically.
"It's my friend's family's place! I've been working here for about a month." Hanni responded with a shy smile, a slight blush creeping up her cheeks. "What do you want to order?" Her gaze falling on the menu placed between them.
-----------
Y/n ordered the meal the two friends had agreed to share and made small talk with Hanni, after reassuring her about her (not that) small injury, y/n went back to her table, sitting in front of Haerin. "She seems flustered by you." Haerin said after a few beats of silence. "Who? Hanni?" y/n looked up. "Yeah, she was blushing really hard and laughing a lot." Haerin responded, turning her head to look at Hanni's side profile, the girl's face still a light shade of pink. "Oh. Well, she's cute, but I'm more into 'handsome' looking girls." y/n said, also turning her head towards the Vietnamese girl.
-----------
A few minutes passed. Haerin and y/n were having a lively talk about wether mustard or ketchup was best, both of them using their best arguments to justify their answer.
"Uhm... Here's your food." Hanni said, with an akward smile, holding a plate-for-two in one hand and bread in the other.
Their conversation came to an abrupt end, as they embarassingly realised Hanni might have been standing there for a while.
"Thanks!" y/n said, a genuine smile on her face.
"Thankyou, oh and y/n was wondering if she could have your number by the way." Haerin calmly said, sternly locking eyes with the waiter-girl.
"Huh??" y/n said, her eyes widening slightly. She then turned to Hanni offering a small smile, as if to confirm what her friend had just said.
"Oh, sure, I'll give it to you." Hanni said, trying to remain as calm as possible, not wanting to seem too excited as she had done earlier.
----------
"Well, that was a VERY good meal!" y/n said patting her ever so slightly bloated stomach after all the food they had engulfed.
"Yep, we should DEFINITELY go back!" Haerin said, sounding energetic for the first time in the whole day they had spent together.
"We should come with Hyein next! I'm sure she'd love it!"

Chapter 3 "you're dumb, unnie"

A/n: Do you guys want a chapter about how haerin and y/n met?
Prev - Masterlist - Next
Y/n was sleeping peacefully on Haerin's bed, her ankle cocooned inside bubble wrap that she had previously found on the kitchen counter. Her eyes fluttered open as she heard the jungle of keys unlocking the front door of her friend's house.
"Y/n!" y/n heard footsteps coming hurriedly towards the bedroom. "Are you okay???" Haerin asked, obviously concerned about the bruised girl. "I'm fine, don't worry!" Haerin grabbed y/n'a leg carefully, observing the bubble wrapped ankle. "WTF is that?!" Haerin said, pointing at y/n's ankle. "Uhhhhh.... I couldn't find anything more decent to wrap my leg in..." Y/n said stuttering on the last words as Haerin's gaze started getting angrier. "Wow y/n... I didn't think you were dumb enough to break into the wrong house, smash my window, twist your ankle and secure it in fucking BUBBLE WRAP?!" Haerin said fingers counting each mistake her friend had made. After neatly patching up y/n's brutalized ankle, she sat next to y/n on the bed.
"Sorry." Y/n whispered, looking down.
"It's fine..." Haerin said, running her fingers through her hair. "You're lucky I know someone who can help me fix the window."
"huh?who?"
"My cousin works in buildings ,I'll ask if he's free. It's Changbin, the one you've already met a few times!"
"I'll be there too!" Y/n said cheerfully, her hands firming fists.
"Dude, you can't even walk. But if you wanna be there, that's fine." She clapped her hands, standing up from the bed. "Right, well, let's get you home now." The feline like girl said, guiding y/n to the exit, making sure her hands were securely wrapped around y/n's waist. Mumbling "God you're so small but so heavy","Why am I even your friend" and " I love you but you're so dumb " Y/n got on the back of Haerin's bike, the other girl's arms still around her. Haerin sat on the bike and took off, grumbling when she struggled to make the bike start.
Her hair softly flowing I the wind as the bike slowly worked it's way towards her house, y/n was thankful for her best friend. Her only friend. Y/n never tells Haerin, but she loves her with all her heart. She was the first person she came out to, knowing Haerin would never judge her. She knew that because, as a matter of fact, Haerin is gay too. Still in her thoughts, y/n hadn't seen that they were finally in her street. She snapped out of them as soon as the bike stopped, Haerin turning her head to smile at her. They both got out of the bike, y/n struggling a bit to raise her leg over the seat.
They made their way up the narrow stairs that lead up to y/n and her sister's apartment, unfortunately the lift has been broken for over a year, making it much harder to climb all the way to the 5th floor. Digging inside her bag, Haerin fetched her key. (y/n and Hyein gave her the spare key when they moved in a few years ago)
"Unnie!!" Hyein ran towards her sister, wrapping her arms tightly around y/n. Y/n let out a small hiss as she had to step back and step on her twisted ankle because of the force of the hug. "OMG DID I HURT YOU?" Hyein jumped back, her eyes starting to water as she looked at her sister's bruised ankle. "I'm fine, don't worry." Y/n said, struggling not to let out another hiss of pain as she stepped into the small living room. "So...What happened exactly?" Hyein said with a mix of worry and interest. Haerin, who was tidying both of your jackets, jerked her head up, obviously interested too.
_________________________________
"...and that's how I ended up with a twisted ankle..." Y/n finished after a few minutes of explaining her adventures.
"Wow...I think Haerin unnie is right... you're dumb, unnie." Hyein said her mouth still hanging low, reflecting her confusion at the unbelievable story.
"Hey!" Y/n said, her lips forming a slight pout. The three girls giggled at the sudden (and unusual) use of aegyo by y/n.
"Haerin, do you wanna stay over, I see you've brought your bag!" Y/n said, smiling brightly at the other girl.
"I wasn't planning on leaving Hyein alone with you anyway." Haerin said, smirking.
"yay! SLEEPOVER" Hyein said, raising her arms to show her enthusiasm.
