-How would you describe Choutokkyuu 5 as a family?-

TAKUYA: Takashi would be the mom.

KAI: Mamashi. (Mama + Takashi) Ryouga would be the dad. Papatsu. (Papa + Funatsu)

TAKUYA, YUKI: Yeah, yeah.

TAKUYA: Kai would be the eldest son, I’m the second and Yuki would be the youngest.

RYOUGA: Really? Yuki should be great grandpa.

KAI: Yuki is either the youngest child or the great grandpa.

YUKI: Oi! (laugh)

TAKUYA: Well, I’m actually the eldest son.

RYOUGA: Really? So you’re the eldest~ Hee~

TAKUYA: I’m just saying what fits me.

RYOUGA: Eh? What do you mean?

TAKUYA: I’m just saying what fits each member. (laugh)

RYOUGA:  You mean anything goes? That’s awesome.

TAKUYA: The right person in the right place.

RYOUGA: So that means Takuya is a newborn baby.

KAI: Then, Yuki is definitely a great grandpa! (laugh)

RYOUGA: Ahahha (laugh). Kai is more like an older sister who is good at taking care of her younger siblings instead of an older brother.

YUKI: Ah, you’re right.

RYOUGA: Somehow, “eldest son” gives off an impression of solitude to me. Well, I’m an only child so I don’t really know. (laugh)

-Choutokkyuu’s catchphrase when you debut was “Respect Korean Japanese Pop”. What kind of catchphrase would you add to Choutokkyuu in the future?-

KAI: “Respect World Japanese Pop”.

EVERYONE: Ooohh!!!

KAI: It fits with the timing of our album “Dance Dance Dance”.

RYOUGA: Well, for me I really put importance in our concept of being “unique, one and only”.

TAKUYA: For me, “weird people”.

TAKASHI: I think... How about “Love Me Free”?

EVERYONE: Ohhh!!

RYOUGA: He did it! (laugh)

*TAKUYA: I’ll throw this pen to you! (laugh)

*RYOUGA: You’re bullying him! (laugh)

TAKUYA: I’m not! (laughing)

RYOUGA: It’s a very good phrase though! (laugh)

KAI: There’s a devil here. (laugh)

*TAKUYA: Really, you always make fun of him.

-Ahahaha. Lastly from Yuki!-

RYOUGA: He’s gonna come up with a good one. Come on, spill it.

KAI: Grandpa.

YUKI: I guess... it’s “BTD”.

TAKUYA:  Eh?

RYOUGA: You mean?

YUKI: “BTD” stands for “Bullet Train Desu!” 

KAI, RYOUGA: That’s BTS! (laugh)

YUKI: Thank you. You saved me! (laugh)

*It is unclear who Takuya and Ryouga is actually referring to. From the flow of conversation it seemed like either one of them were laughing at Takashi but both of their next lines sounded like they were backing up Takashi.  Ryouga’s lines suggested that Takuya was guilty but Takuya’s lines suggested otherwise. I leave it to your imagination ^^”

-Throughout these 10 years, were there any memorable incidents that happened among the members?-

TAKUYA: There was once when Ryouga wasn’t feeling very well during our rehearsal. That day was the birthday of one of our staff and we were going to celebrate it after the rehearsal. But then Ryouga was already at his limits. Just as we were wishing the staff “Happy Birthday!” Ryouga was running all the way to the toilet... (laugh)

RYOUGA: Plus, the studio was a stylish one with a classic toilet. It was like a scene from a movie. (laugh)

TAKASHI: It was a bizarre atmosphere. (laugh)

-Ryouga was already at his limits (laugh). Didn’t any other member notice he was not feeling well?-

TAKUYA:

Nobody did.

RYOUGA:

I was with a cat or so. I tried to not look like I wasn’t feeling well. (laugh)

YUKI:

Another incident would be Ryouga as the MC during our live in Tokyo International Forum.

RYOUGA:

Enough about me! That incident has been talked about so many times already! (laugh)

-The legendary incident where Ryouga talked for 8 minutes...?-

RYOUGA:

Why do you know that!? (laugh)

YUKI:

8 minutes and a half of pointless speech (laugh)

RYOUGA:

Stop that...

YUKI:

Everyone else were looking at each other like “When will it end?”... (laugh)

TAKASHI: *

Those 8 minutes and a half made me stop feeling like the artist performing on stage (laugh).

YUKI: *

Yeah. Like, we returned to our true selves and were wondering that shouldn’t the last part of the live be more touching? (laugh)

-(laugh) Is there any more?-

RYOUGA: What just came into my mind is when we were shooting the cheerleading scene for our movie “Sideline”. We were split into teams of 2 and each person was supposed to hold their partner’s waist while they jump and ride on their shoulders. It was quite acrobatic and somehow the giants Kai and Takashi were paired as a team. (laugh) **It was a sight! 

TAKASHI: What’s worse was that our pair was the center. (laugh)

RYOUGA: We couldn’t laugh because it was a serious situation (laugh).

TAKASHI: I still remember it. If I had made a mistake there it could cost me my head literally. A slight mistouch could have taken away my life. (laugh)

RYOUGA: Takashi looked as if he was gonna die... (laugh) Like he was being attacked by a pro wrestler. (laugh)

-December 25th 2021 was the 10th Anniversary! During the 10 years of being together, has there been a trend in Choutokkyuu?-

RYOUGA: The Yu-Gi-Oh! card game was popular among us. We were given the opportunity to do the theme song for the anime, so we were like “There’s no reason not to play the game!” Inside the dressing room, in the car when we’re on the move, after our rehearsals, in so many different places, we would be dueling around the clock. (laugh)

-Who was the strongest?-

YUKI: The strongest is probably Kai. Kai would look up and bring the competitive decks used in tournaments (laugh). Although, everyone else also used pretty strong decks. The Yu-Gi-Oh! rage among us was pretty intense and passionate. Besides that would be the Werewolf game I think? We were into that game quite early.

-Who started the Werewolf game?-

RYOUGA: Either Kai or Yuki...? But would Yuki ever say the word “Werewolf”?

YUKI: Of course I would!

RYOUGA: I can’t really picture that. I mean, Yuki wouldn’t know such a difficult word, right (laugh)?

YUKI: Oi!

KAI: I don’t remember too, but if it’s either me or Yuki who started it, it’s probably me. (laugh)

RYOUGA: We were also into penny skateboards at one time.

YUKI: We’d run around Ebisu on our penny (laugh). For a while.

TAKUYA:  It was fun~.

RYOUGA: When it comes to skateboards, Takuya would be the leader.

YUKI: Back then Takashi also had his own penny, if I recall correctly.

TAKASHI: I wasn’t so into it, but since I was happy to receive it, I used to play outside my house.

-So what’s trending these days?-

RYOUGA: I wonder what’s going on these days~

YUKI: If it’s something that was popular for only time...

TAKUYA: Then that’s not a trend (laugh).

YUKI: Something that was popular among us for only one time was Takashi’s Game of Life. (laugh)

TAKASHI: No, that was for the recording of「Choutokkyuuu Toretari」(laugh)!

RYOUGA: What is trendy (laugh).

TAKUYA: Ah, whenever we go for interviews, we always receive lunched boxes from the same shop. That’s the trend, in the past and even now. It’s like a set meal, delicious and healthy. I feel old talking about food being the trend (laugh). Ah- And that thing! Memoji...

KAI: Yeah that was a fad, for sure (laugh).

RYOUGA: There’s a content called Animoji, in which a 3D animation of a dog or cat moves in tandem with your face on your smartphone’s camera. At first I was really surprised by it and tried to make cute faces (laugh). So, if you make a high-energy Animoji and immediately move the camera to someone who is sleeping in a moving car, the Animoji suddenly faints (laugh).

YUKI: That’s funny (laugh).

RYOUGA: That was certainly popular when we’re inside moving cars. So silly... (laugh)
