Jonny's eyes are open but not for long. There's all manner of wolfsbane running through his system and, without his powers, his body is useless in its fight against it. "Don't you get it? She'll keep coming. She won't stop until she gets what she wants, and the fun part, Stiles? We have no idea what she wants. So, no," he protests weakly. "I'm not putting you in danger again."

"You enormous idiot," Stiles barks back, "I'm still in danger. I'm always in danger!"

"Yes," Jonny breathes out, defeat laced in every atom of air. "And I'm sick and tired of it being because of me. I'm-- I'm supposed to be the one protecting you, Stiles."

Stiles flops down further into the chair, head bouncing back and up again. "We're supposed to protect each other."

tagged by @daffi-990 @diazsdimples @tizniz no more essays to write which means I get to focused on fics! so here's my alpha!buck/omega!eddie wip i'm working on (still can't believe i'm writing an omegaverse fic WHAT has happened to me?)

 Although times have changed, there is still a stigma about presenting as an Omega. Buck remembers when he was Chris’ age, almost time to go to the doctor’s to see whether he’ll be an Alpha, Beta, or Omega. He was small for his age. Fourteen and still hasn’t hit his growth spurt, wouldn’t until a couple of years later. Kids would bully him, teasing him how he would become the “perfect omega” for the ones who have already presented as an alpha. And, honestly? Buck believed he would become an Omega. He didn’t feel particularly aggressive as a kid, other than towards himself. Whenever he thought about a family, he thought about birthing a litter to raise and protect as his own. Better than his own parents. Imagining a mate who will love him and protect him and one that he will protect in return.

He thought he saw it in his parents’ eyes, too sometimes. That they believed their only son would become an Omega. Maddie presented as a Beta. But they didn’t care much about her presentation since she was a girl. What mattered the most was his.

So it was a surprise when after his doctor checkup, it turned out he was an Alpha. When he told his mother, he thought she would be proud, relieved. Instead, she sniffed at him, saying, “Of course you are,” and they left. Still, Buck didn’t feel like an Alpha until years later and many, many gym sessions that gave him the muscle mass he has today. Sometimes he still feels like a fraud. Like there was a mixup and the doctor mixed up his results with some other poor kid’s and he’s really an Omega in disguise. The only reason he knows he’s not one are for his ruts and the way his hackles rise whenever a family member becomes threatened, Buck poised to attack.

Hope it's okay to add onto this, but for situations like this where you can't block a person, I recommend downloading the AO3: Kudosed and seen history userscript.

One of the features is that it allows you to select 'skip' on a fanwork so it doesn't show up for you on AO3, essentially blocking the fic. Additionally, AO3 Enhancements is an extension that allows you to block certain tags altogether from showing up.

Obviously, it would be better if we didn't have to encounter these fanworks in the first place, but I've found these tools to be helpful in navigating AO3

PSA for OG and Lone Star fans

There is a super racist fic on the first page of the 'Carlos Reyes/TK Strand' tag right now (it's a crossover, I believe at this point it's on the second page of the 'Buck/Eddie' tag). It's been posted anonymously so you won't be able to block the author to avoid seeing it. It is tagged 'racism' so filtering that or 'MAGA' would also remove it from your view. The person seems based on the way they're responding in the comments to be enjoying all the hurt they have caused so I think not giving them any more attention is probably the best course of action, but take care of yourselves and protect each other. Avoid that tag for a few days if you need to, so the fic has a chance to be moved to the second or third page of new fics as others get posted.

Edit: it is still being updated so unfortunately we'll have to deal with it being on the first page for a while.

there's a p common attitude in fandom spaces (fandom in general, not a specific one) that's like "why care about canon, or the characters being ooc? we're here to play with the dolls any way we like" and as much as i obviously am a person who thinks about canon a lot in theory i'm into that. in practice though when popular fanon takes things in a wildly different direction from canon so often it's in the service of taking something that was originally canonically weird and interesting and making it blander. it's flattening a complex character into a broad archetype i've seen a million times before, it's taking two characters with a complicated canonical relationship and writing them in a way where you could find-and-replace the names with any other popular migratory slash fandom pairing and the fic would make as much if not more sense. if you're going to break away from canon at least do something interesting? don't make it less weird? i feel like i'm watching someone take a really beautiful expensive cut of wagyu steak and grind it into hamburger to cook it well done and cover it in ketchup
