sorry for shoving that art i finished in your face over n' over I just don't have a lot of examples of miriam cuz i have these big ideas for art of her and then i have a hard time dong them!
Anyway, this is Miriam, Marion's twin sister, and she has already depicted herself as the calm and calculated and unemotional chad and you as the seething crying screaming wojak. Real talk she is an examination of the person who views emotions as illogical and bad and cynicism is intelligent, particularly a feminist lense on the 'im not emotional, i'm edgy and cynical and dont care about anything and im smarter and my life is better for it' and just the overall 'why girlboss-ism sucks' (cw for child abuse, suicide mention, sexism, substance abuse, and just a general blanket Heavy Stuff)
also this one is a long one, Miriam and her twin have been bouncing in my brain since 2015
The above is a bit of a joke but that boils down to a lot of her character. Miriam is twins with Marion, who I will write more in her own post. They're so interconnected story-wise as foils for each other and all that jazz but this post would be so long and rambly that I'll give them their own.
Marion is transfeminine (nb) and uses both she/he but not they!!
Miriam and Marion Price are fraternal twins to their very wealthy parents who get their dough from back in the days of patent medicine (snake oil salesmen and the like). Miriam was a pageant girl and growing up in that environment and tldr is that their childhood fucked both the twins up in different ways that intersect. Marion was for most of their lives extremely codependent. Their parents played favorites, Miriam was rewarded for participating in socially acceptable femininity while to Marion's confusion when she emulated the way her sister dressed, makeup, ect. she was punished. Miriam took on the role as Marion's protector, looking after her twin and felt strain in essentially parenting herself, Marion, and being unable to be a child as a result due to the neglect and the fact both kids were not given the grace and expectations behavior wise that one gives to kids. Kids yell, cry, scream, they can be impulsive and make bad decisions, ect. and thats ok! Mr. and Ms. Price were in a loveless marriage with infidelity and frankly, Evelynn (their mother) only had kids because thats what you're supposed to do as a woman after you get married and ain't no way were they going to get an abortion due to stigma. I'd like to touch more on Evelynn as a representation of someone who upholds, even to her own detriment, gender roles and how damaging they are that they reverberate down from generation in families. A lot of the inspo for Evelynn comes from Beatrice Horseman.
Anyway 99centsoda old heads know that these two originate from the fucking Reverse Falls Gravity Falls AU so if you see certain things that maybe look like the AU with serial numbers filed off thats why lmfao. I saw what the fandom was doing and thought I could do it better and then they became so different from the source material I could confidently break away entirely because to me a good fanwork exchanges with the source material in meaningful ways that i wasn't getting with a cartoon for tweens on disney xd. Which is fine, of course. In a way these two characters grew up with me. A few months after I came up with her and Marion i tried to kill myself. I love them, and with these two I realized that I could write original content and that everything that comes out of me is not inherently disgusting
ANYWAY growing up with Marion, who suffers from a litany of mental health issues (as do their parents, and Miriam does as well. Bipolar specifically for Miri.), their codependent relationship spiraled. Marion's BPD caused a lot of issues for both of them, and Miriam's way of going about it was to build a rift between them. Do whatever she felt was 'independent.' Everything she did had to be no-strings-attached, emotionless, easy-going, an above all Alone. No real relationships and only flings, dropping friendships if they asked too much of her emotionally. Attempting to flip the switches in her brain and heart to make her empty and thus free of pain.
Miriam is also, despite her claims of not really caring that much about anything, is extremely unforgiving and resentful. Marion has improved a lot, is managing his symptoms, and is generally in a better place, but Miriam does not forgive him for the shit in their teens (sabotaging relationships, reckless behavior, self-harm, ect. Marion was going thru it and not coping the best but I do want to emphasize that Marion was suffering and I have infinite love for those with PDs and frankly thats a lot of what her story is about). Anybody that challenges Miriam's cynicism is met with a lot of "Imagine caring this hard lol" type shit. We've all seen this individual online, hence why i referenced the crying wojak/nordic chad shit that goes around and the mentality behind it.
I see a lot of people who maybe are like Miriam. So I wonder why, what happened. The people who see people dying and can't talk about it without meme-speak. The kind of person who sees someone passionately defending what they believe in and chime in with "It's not that deep". I probably didn't explain this succinctly but Miriam's character is about that cynic and she got there from her foil, Marion, with unregulated emotional turmoil and simply becoming the opposite of that. Since Marion is suffering so much from feeling, Miriam decides she will be much happier as the opposite.
But it's tiring, and Miriam's story arc in my head is about shedding that and letting herself love and be loved. Also not supposed to be 'look at this moron its so cringe to be a cynic' because that too i find a bit callous and unhelpful but rather a 'feels better to care about stuff, its important to care about stuff, and to tell people you care'

This is PANDORA ^ she is an AI inside of a robot, I made her after listening to Kokoro by Toraboruta when I was like 13. She was originally a living ball-jointed doll because i was scared of copying Toraboruta and VOCALOIDs in general
I try to have my characters examine a certain trope or concept i guess? and for PANDORA it is about mind vs body and gender and shit. I also wanted to examine gender and perceptions of beauty with her form. I depict her 'ideal' self as a 'real human girl' to contrast with her android appearance. I think about what her creator would make her look like, because she is supposed to be a mechanical daughter, and how a person's perception of gender (in this case, a human man) would influence how someone might create what they would feel to be a 'perfect daughter'. She has an hourglass figure and a large chest, because I think that perhaps her creator would want to make her feel beautiful and thus has applied those standards to her form. But, she does not look like a little girl, PANDORA is supposed to look like a woman and thus her face, while free of wrinkles and blemishes, does have a more mature shape to it.
And I do think Albert, the scientist who made her, maybe even thought of it as sort of an art project as well, and thus her legs are definitely not human as a design choice. Elegant, futuristic, but sexless. From the waist down is black metal. You cannot have sex with her in a human sense. This is supposed to be his offspring, and many fathers can fall into a dual being too invested in their daughter's sexuality or lack thereof in a weird dichotomy (i have experienced this from my own dad shit is weird)
I would like to explore her sexuality too, especially as a being without reproductive organs, and overall her own feelings about who she is, why she is, in relation to the body that she was forced into. Does she accept it? does she break away from it and choose to abandon her physical form and exist as her true self which is a server room? i dont know yet, but i would like to examine these things

this is Vera! he is inspired by the 'henchman/bodyguard' kind of trope where there's usually the most evil motherfucker out there who has someone (who is often coded as being romantically in love with them) as their underling they are generally shitty towards but they still have seemingly unwavering devotion. I wanted a story where that character is the MC, I also wondered about a story where the big bad dies and what becomes of that underling? they usually die and get bundled in with gay character always dies trope.
This character is inspired a lot from a certain character in Trigun, so if you don't want Trigun Maximum spoilers don't look! CW for mental illness and abuse
Story of this character being made was reading Trigun Maxiumum after watching the botched 90's anime (and then I watched the reboot by Studio Orange which I am very excited to see what they do with it in regards to the trimax content) found myself thinking a lot about Legato Bluesummers. You might even call Vera the Legato at home atp. I mean even the design is highly lifted from legato lmao.
It makes sense why Legato dies, narratively for his character and Vash's as being the first time he decides to kill despite his pacifism. But, as one does when they like a character, I started wondering what if Legato lived? What would that look like? From there I was thinking a lot about why he's Like That(tm), he does fall into the Gay Henchmen stereotype and from there I was thinking about that trope as a whole. @/d-d-disgusting's character Vince (i used to RP with tooth but idk if they're still around or wanna connect but yeah Vince is amazing and so interesting) they have a really interesting take on the "Traits Villain's Cringe Fail sidekick usually are given in media and lets examine that" its awesome) was another big inspiration for this.
Something I find interesting about Legato is that obviously Knives wants to get rid of humans as a whole and that whole thing. Legato is 1000% on board for this, frankly can't remember if this is implied because he is suicidal or that's just what I took away from it but yea. I found that interesting. He's a relatively newer character of mine but I wanted to examine with his story what would happen to make someone feel this way, the lengths they would go to just to please someone who openly has disdain and disgust for them, why they might be ok with that or even agree with that treatment
And then what might happen if that person was taken away and leaving this Henchmen Trope character purposeless. Dealing with the aftermath of it all. Vera has a TBI too frankly becuase i became disabled with my neurological nonsense right around the same time i read all of trimax over one very long shift and so my FND is tied to Trigun for me for whatever reason and even the themes outside of the work do nebulously connect to my disability for me lol

i love storytelling that feels like a paper ball getting unfurled or zooming out in a sense like with trigun it starts off as a western, it's cowboys, and it ends with crazy sci-fi shit happening. it's awesome and even within the story you are introduced to the concept of Vash the Stampede this no good evil bandit, and then turns out he's a sweetie pie, oh wait he's an alien, as old as civilization on the planet, ect. ect.

there is a lot to like in the trigun reboot but there is also just so so so so much shit that feels wildly OOC to me i dont wanna be a hater but the writers really dont seem to know what made trimax good
i can only hope legato gets good treatment despite the whitewashing and twinkification

the whole thing with wolfwood's scary experiment shit making him speed thru aging/puberty is so so so horrifying as a trans person being forced to go thru that shit before your time and the subsequent dysmorphia (even if if ww is cis) has to be crazy bad. That's so scary and horrifying and i dont see any fan content focus in on that! idk i think ww being transfem just makes sense narratively
i am hoping that the reboot would touch more on this (obviously i dont think transfem ww will be canon especially not with the hot mess that is Elendira in the reboot), i loved the animation sequence for the two episodes focusing on his backstory though i think they blew their load early with it
