Jonsa and the Starks – What was the point?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GOT faded fast after the finale. My theater dance teacher once said finish all your performances strong because the audience always remembers the last thing you do. After watching the GOT finale, those words are ringing in my ears.  The Dark Dany story came and destroyed KL, diluted the excitement about Jonsa and sadly GOT.  Dany became the face of GOT. I do agree (a little bit)  with the way they hid the conclusion of the  Jonsa love story from the public because it protected Sophie from a lot of backlash from Dany fans. However, I do not agree with the emotional turmoil Jon displayed over Dany’s death.  Dany’s mental instability was overlooked by fans because of her beauty; and, lets face it, Dany had great nude scenes with her dragons. I refuse to believe Jon would give his heart to Dany so cheaply. From an acting perspective, Sophie and Kit had the most difficult romance to portray on screen because they had to conveying an unspoken love story. Jonsa mainly used eye contact and anguish breathing to convey to the audience their love for each other, along with simple touches - Not to mention they each gave up power for an “ordinary life” in Winterfell.
In regards to Jonsa, I feel strongly this - if Jon did not go to Sansa immediately to consummate their love after finding out his parentage AND if Jon and Sansa did NOT confess their love  for one another before the Long Night war then I would NOT have continued to support Jonsa.   Everyone agreed there was a 99% chance that everyone would die in Long Night war - the first thing you want to do before going off to war or dying  is to tell your loved ones how much you love them.  If neither of these two things happened BEFORE the long night war then Jonsa fans we got our answer; jonsa was not meant to be and we should accept it.  However, fear not, Jonsa did happen before the Long Night war, despite Dany’s presence in Winterfell.  Jonsa is a bittersweet love because although they survived and realized their love for one another, they ended up apart for unknown reasons. My biggest concern about Jonsa has always been a severe character change for Jon because of the possibledeath of Sansa. Greyworm lost Missandei and he became a cold blooded killer; Robert lost Lyanna and became a male whore; and I believe Cersei put all her love in her children to hide the pain of losing her one true love.(Not Jaime)
Anyway, I want to explore what was the point of Jonsa’s unspoken love story. What was the point of watching Jon reluctantly make out with Dany and that boatsex? Why tease us with Jonsa? – just put Jon and Dany together and let them rule, and pair Sansa up with someone else. What will be the payoff of Jon and Sansa surviving? What was the point? And on a side note, why was Jon Aryn’s  death so important to Ned?
The only logical explanation for Jonsa’s existence is to re-establish the rightful heir to prominent houses -  Stark, Targaryen and Lannister- which were destroyed during Robert’s rebellion.  Jon was right the true enemy has always been - the Night King. He steals the bodies and lives after killing his victims. There was a reason the 3 eyed raven showed Bran flashbacks of Winterfell with – Rickard, Rodrick, Ned, Lyanna and Benjen. The key to decoding GOT is to know the past because the past repeats itself.s
Here is a quick outline of what I believe happened:
Chaos happened around the time of Robert’s rebellion; memories were erased. Many of the characters are not who they believe they are. Both the Starks and the Targaryens were almost destroyed and/or went into hiding during Robert’s rebellion. The 3 eyed raven has been manipulating events to bring the leaders of House Stark and House Targaryen back to its rightful place in Westeros. Lyanna and Cersei suffered the most because they were separated from their family.  I believe Lyanna and Cersei’s bloodline (children) were the key to winning the Long Night war. Whenever I see evil such as Ramsey, Dany, Joffrey and Viserys, I believe the evil seed came from the Night King. “ The seed is strong.” (By the way, I believe Arya killed the Prince – the Night King’s son. The Night King may still be a threat. )
So, if the past repeats itself, there was a hidden Targaryen prince and another Jonsa hidden love story also existed in Winterfell that may have  involved Lyanna, Ned, Benjen and Bran. My biggest prediction was Jon’s journey in the entire show has been to resurrect Sansa.  I believe Sansa took Dany’s body and Jon will eventually take Tyrion’s body. The point of the story is  Jon and Sansa’s children will continue the legacy/bloodline of Lyanna, Benjen, Ned, Bran, Cersei, Tyrion and Dany.
I also believe the season 1 opening episode in Winterfell symbolized a Dream of Spring for House Stark.  Jonsa will be the ones to have 5 northern children together in Winterfell and raise the Targaryen/Stark bastard.
Whew – that was a lot. This meta is suppose to be thought provoking. There had to be a point to GOT. Since we were not given explicit answers to our questions, we must draw conclusions based on the clues the show gave us. GOT will not be remembered as a classic because of the s8 finale. They stuck the audience with a bad ending and then just left us.  However, GOT did have one main point/purpose – Jonsa’s successful fight for love, family and survival.

The show gave another definition of bastard - a dwarf. Tyrion said that all dwarfs are considered bastards in their father’s eyes. This phrase was repeated twice. Food for thought.
Sons of the Harpists, Sons of the Harpies
We are back on my endless preaching of “Jon and Sansa are supposed to have a bastard son” post. This time I will be pulling receipts from the episode Sons of the Harpy (5x04). Why? Well for one, “Sons of the Harpy”.
This title on the surface appears to refer to the underground group comprise of former slaves in Meeren who was causing disturbance to Daenerys’ rule. In this episode the group’s attack caused the death of Ser Barristan Selmy.
But of course, the episode title have other meanings.
What did Ser Barristan do before his death? He told Dany about her brother Rhaegar. The harpist.
Tumblr media
Rhaegar has one son who is alive, one he has with Lyanna Stark. What else being brought up in this episode?
Tumblr media
Yes, a mention of the tourney where Rhaegar and Lyanna’s affair supposedly started.
In Greek and Roman mythology, harpies are half-human half-bird creature, a bird with a head of a maiden. The harpies in ASOIAF universe from which the rebel group take its name is a symbol of a Ghiscari Empire taking the form of woman torso and head with bird wings and tail. Sansa Stark was picking a bird feather from Lyanna’s statue that was put there by Robert Baratheon.
Tumblr media
Jon Snow, son of the harpist and son of the harpy.
But the son is plural. Sons. What other son?
Who else is a harpist in this story? Bael the Bard. The King Beyond the Wall who impregnate a Stark daughter. His son will later become the next Lord Stark.
And where was Sansa Stark in this episode? The crypts. Which was also where the Stark maiden hid while carrying Bael’s son.
And who is Sansa Stark? The little bird. The harpy.
And what other tourney can be made reference in this episode? The Ashford Tourney.

THE STARK’S GOOD-BYE and JONSA
I still can’t believe how disappointing the series finale of GOT was. The show missed an opportunity to become the mecca of all  shows! I thought for sure after watching the Battle of the Bastards that GOT would become an all time classic – like Return of the Jedi. Season 6 BOT was a classic - Jon’s passion while  fighting for Sansa, and Sansa breathlessly watching Jon’s bravery on the battlefield was epic!  The Season 8 series finale did not ruin BOT; it will forever be a classic.   I am grateful that Jonsa ended the series with hope. (Dany fans were hammered because they did not see Dark Dany coming at all.  Winter came in the form of Dany and the Night King – Dany and the Night King were the bad guys on the show.) Sadly, the show did not give us explicit answers for the most important storyline-  Jonsa. However, we can draw our own conclusions!
There was an important observation with the Starks final scene together that we may have overlooked - the Stark’s goodbye location was in Kings Landing close to the dragon pit and not in Winterfell.
Tumblr media
Look at Jon’s face when he sees the Sansa, Arya and Bran. It is one of shock. I believe his reaction is because of Sansa. Why is he so stricken when he sees Sansa?
Tumblr media
Remember the phrase “There must always be a Stark in Winterfell” This applies directly to Sansa. This is the first time we see no Starks in Winterfell while Sansa is in KL. At first, I was so upset that they did not give Jonsa  a one-on-one goodbye. I understand now why they did the good-bye all at once with the Stark family – to show that there are no Starks in Winterfell, yet  Sansa is in KL and still alive.  I suspected that the only way Sansa can leave Winterfell and stay alive is if there is a  Stark in Winterfell. Hence the statement “There must always be a Stark in Winterfell.” relates back to Sansa.
I wrote in my previous post that I believe that Sansa died in childbirth (delivering Jon’s babies) and was resurrected as a wight before she left for KL. Jon’s entire storyline was to resurrect Sansa. Sansa stayed alive in Kings Landing and the Vale because there were Starks in Winterfell. (Starks that were in Winterfell while Sansa was in Kings Landing - Bran, Rickon, Theon and yes Ramsey ) Winterfell has always been Sansa ‘s lifeline. If Winterfell was destroyed, Sansa would have died.
The Starks goodbye was done intentionally outside of Winterfell to show that Jon accomplished his mission - Sansa was resurrected using Dany’s body. Jon’s gasp and shocked look was because he saw Sansa for the first time resurrected. I understand the post Sophie was gifted after her final GOT scene was focused on her being at the dragonpit meeting. I now understand why.
It explains why Sansa was so adamant about not attending the first dragonpit meeting in season 7, and why she sent Brienne in her place. Winterfell was her lifeline.  In addition, Cersei was looking forward to seeing Sansa at the dragonpit meeting. The show made it a point to have Cersei ask for Sansa “Where is she?” (The biggest disappointment was Cersei not seeing Sansa’s growth as  a woman. I would have loved to see Cersei’s reaction. It would have been so emotional ughhh. so upsetting) Also, Sansa not wanting to go to the dragon pit meeting in S7 should be confirmation that Bran and Arya are not considered Starks. Bran is now the 3 eyed Raven and Arya is now no one.
Anyway, we can draw a lot of conclusions from this. In season 8,  Jon, Sansa and Bran have been communicating politically.  Jon and Sansa are the future of House Stark and the North. They both were resurrected for a reason – because the are in love and to  re-establish House Stark and the North’s independence.  I believe Jon, Arya, Bran and Theon are all off springs of the previous generation of Starks, specifically Bran and  Lyanna. (Bran, Arya and Theon are Lyanna’s children - Theon being the Stark/Targaryen bastard.)  Sansa is the Targaryen queen, and Jon Snow is Bran Stark’s(The Wild Wolf) son and thus, the rightful heir of Winterfell.  Thus, it would make sense why Bran, Theon and Arya defeated the Night King and Jon defeated Dany.  I don’t want to go too far with my conclusions because it would make this post too long identifying the clues.
Here is the important conclusion - Jon accomplished his mission. He resurrected Sansa, which was implied at the Stark good-bye scene. However, Jon and Sansa cannot be together until Jon gets a Stark human body. Jon had to exiled himself temporarily to save Sansa again, essentially giving up his right to Winterfell and the North to Sansa.  Jon and Sansa found true love in a cruel world. They are destined to rule together and continue the legacy of House Stark!

JON’S EXHILE WAS BITTERSWEET
Jon’s exile was very upsetting....and yes also bittersweet!
Before I explain to you why Jon had to exile himself, here are the conclusions I came to from the show:
1)     Jonsa happened before Jon and Sansa left Winterfell in season 1.
2)     Sansa got pregnant with Jon’s baby. There were complications with the pregnancy because Sansa is human and Jon is not. I believe Jon is also half a direwolf. As a result, Sansa died giving birth to Jon’s child before Jonsa left Winterfell. Somehow, Sansa was resurrected as a wight.
3)     In order to resurrect Sansa,  a Targaryen Queen was needed. The only possibility of a Targaryen queen was Dany – Dany needed to take the Irone Throne and become Queen. Joran/Jon have been working to keep Dany alive so she can take the Irone Throne.
4)     With Dany’s death in the last episode, Dany’s body was used to resurrect Sansa. Sansa is now human again using Dany’s body. Jon is still not human.
Here is the reason why Jon had to exiled himself:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
JON AND SANSA ARE IN LOVE! THERE IS NO WAY JON IS GOING TO BE ABLE TO KEEP HIS HANDS OFF SANSA!
Tumblr media
Jon and Sansa knew it! Jon and Sansa are madly in love! Sansa is human again; Jon is not. To prevent Sansa from getting pregnant and dying again from a complicated pregnancy, Jon had to leave.  In a sense, Dany broke the wheel for Jon and Sansa too.
Jon exiled himself to protect Sansa. Jon worked very hard to make Sansa human again. He succeeded and now  Jon has to leave Winterfell to protect her. (That is so bittersweet.) Yet another barrier was put up between Sansa and Jon! Ironically, it is another barriers that prevents them from being intimate with each other. Very sad.
All is not lost! Bran put in place the next plan, which is to get Jon a human body. As much as I hate to admit it, the top candidate is Tyrion.  That is why Tyrion survived the series. Tyrion will be Jon’s replacement human body. Jon will return to Sansa at Winterfell when he has a human body. Lets hope there will not be anymore Jonsa barriers after this. I sense something else will rip Jonsa apart. However, Jon and Sansa has been through so much, they will never give up on their love. They will keep fighting to find each other again! The Lord of light is with them.

POSSIBILITY OF A JONSA BABY
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Sansa looked Radiant.” Is the first clue that Sansa may have been pregnant on GOT. If there is a Jonsa baby, then it would have been birthed before Jon and Sansa left Winterfell. That would mean Jonsa happened before they left Winterfell in season one.
As a refresher, I believe Jorah and Jon are the same person and  that Jorah had been manipulating Dany since season one. The is evidence that Jonsa already happened before Sansa left to go to Kings Landing and before Jon left to go to Castle Black -  and that something tragic happened to Sansa. Why would Jorah be so invested in protecting Dany all series long. I believe, similar to Lyanna, Sansa died in childbirth and somehow Sansa was temporarily resurrected and her soul was planted in the weirwood tree. That’s why in season 1 Ghost brought a woman’s hand from the weirwood tree to Jon. That’s why Bran wanted to protect the weirwood tree during the long Night. Also, Sansa’s life line has always been tied to and stronger when she is in Winterfell. There was a grand scheme designed to save Sansa’s life since season one– a Targaryen Queen must take the Irone Throne. Dany was the last possible Targaryen Queen.  Also, it was always strange that Sansa had her period so late at the  approx. age of 14. When Bran spoke about seeing Sansa in her beautiful White wedding dress, I don’t think he was referring to her marriage to Ramsey. I think he was referring to Jon. When watching GOT it is important to watch the POV of specific characters. I used Bran’s POV from season 6 to season 8.  Bran saw Jonsa’s love for each other  since season 7.
All of my speculation is based on clues from the show. As I said, if a Jonsa child does exist, he/she or it was born before Sansa and Jon left Winterfell. Here are some possibilities of a Jonsa child:
1)     Sweet Rickon – I believe he was Jon and Sansa’s son. It would explain so much.  Specifically, why Jon lost control and charged at Ramsey during  the Battle of the Bastards. If Rickon was Jon and Sansa’s son, it would add even more heartbreak to the Jonsa love story - Jon watching his son get murdered right in front of him.( Rickon is buried next to Ned Stark in the Winterfell Crypt.)
2)     Notice I used the work IT to refer to a Jonsa child - The dead dire wolf in season one episode 1 is a possible Jonsa child.  In season one we saw the birth of dragons from a human.  Why not dire wolves? We know Dany is the mother of dragons. Could Jon and Sansa be the parents of a direwolf? Sansa’s emotional breakdown over Lady’s death resembled a mother losing a child. Sansa’s reaction to seeing Shaggy severed head was rage – again the reaction of a mother losing a child! The dire wolves are somehow connected to Jon and Sansa.
3)     The final possibility of a Jon and Sansa child are the two wilding girls Jon indirectly saved in the Hardhome episode. The show made a point to reveal these two wilding girls. Hardhome was an important episode.  Jon may have saved his daughters lives by saving the wildings. It would make sense for Jon and Sansa legacy to continue through two girls mirroring Ned Starks two girls (Arya and Sansa) What if Catelyn Stark stole Jon and Sansa littles girls and gave them to the wildings to raise so she can protect Robb’s right to Winterfell? In the script teaser, Sansa did not look happy with Catelyn Stark at all. This may be part of the reason Bran sent Jon North of the wall with the  wildings.
I know this meta is filled with speculation. However, who cares – the show did not give us the answers explicitly. We were left with speculation. The truth will be what we conclude from the foreshadowingg. I refuse to believe the show would end without Sansa giving birth to a child - Jon’s child. There have been so much talk about Sansa marrying and having children. I believe it happened with Jon. The saddest part about the ending of GOT was the audience did not get to see the next generation of the happy Stark family in the courtyard of Winterfell. The ending of GOT was filled with mourning for Dany, and we are left with these images of Jon and Sansa:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We got a sample of Jon and Sansa ruling together. We did not get to see them parenting together.   Sadly, we did not get to see the next generation of the Stark children in Winterfell through Jonsa. The vision of Stark children being raised in Winterfell was a flagship of GOT –  the opening episode of the series established this. What were Jon and Sansa fighting for in season 6,7 and 8?  Jonsa’s future; their children were suppose to be the next generation to get the Winterfell experience. GOT ended with a lasting impression of mourning Dany’s death.  I was left with the feeling that Dany will always be part of Jon and Sansa’s story. Sansa was crowned queen and looked lonely; Jon looked lonely and filled with self-hatred. Jon saved Sansa and then leaves her. Heartbreaking. Dany’s story sidelined the true love story of GOT and the vision of the  future Winterfell experience.

More Jonsa Thoughts
In the series finale, it was upsetting to see how much Jon was emotionally invested in Dany despite her character flaws. As I said in my previous post, the only way I can rationalize Jon’s behavior is that I believe Jon and Jorah are the same person; Jon is a greenseer and can transport into other bodies.  This means political Jon was definitely going on since season 1 with Dany.  Jon always seem to develop feelings for the women he is manipulating. Jon fell for Ygritte because her personality was a replica of Arya – and he all know he loves Arya. Jon/Jorah cared for Dany.  However, the foundation for Jon’s feelings for Dany were based on duty not love. Dany did NOT love Jorah/Jon neither; she said she said much – I could not love Jorah back. Probably because of he was too “ordinary” and old for her. I believe there is always a reason or explanation for Jon’s questionable  actions.  Jon is still our hero! He never left us to become something else. How could Jon be in love with this woman?
Tumblr media
People called me delusional because despite “Jon’s” boatsex with Dany, the forced kisses Jon and Dany shared, I still believed that Jonsa was the real GOT love story. After season 8,  I decided I won’t continue read the books or re-watch GOT episodes because I do not want  to end up with only speculations again and feel like I wasted my time. However, I am not going to throw out all the beautiful Jonsa moments the show gave us because of episode 6. Despite the way GOT series finale ended for Jonsa and the Starks, I  still believe what I saw between Jon and Sansa was real love. Jon chose Sansa!
The vision of Jon and Sansa ruling together were too great to disregard.  In season 6 and 7, we got a good look at how Jonsa would rule together as King and Queen.  It was great to watch them publicly  disagree on topics , argue and then later make puppy eyes at each other later. I just loved it! Jon’s love for Sansa saved him from a disastrous relationship with Dany; Sansa’s love for Jon saved her from a disastrous partnership with Littlefinger! (I wish Littelfinger was around in season 8. Seeing his POV would have been great.)
One of my  favorite Jonsa moment was  in episode 8.01 when Sansa realized  that she may have lost Jon to Dany. Sansa made a bold move. (despite believing that Jon is her brother.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She asked Jon “Did you bend the knee to save the North or because you love her?” This is exactly why Jon is madly in love with this woman! Sansa embodies femininity and strength, which  was on full display here. Sansa showed that she was vulnerable, yet not afraid to face the truth that she may have lost Jon to Dany. Sophie really worked this scene. Sansa’s puppy eyes showed a deeper love for Jon.
Tumblr media
GOT missed a great opportunity to send an EXPLICIT message to young women via Sansa Stark’s survival story! However, GOT did kind of send the message IMPLICITLY when they showed Sansa’s feelings for Jon.  Despite being raped and abused, Sansa still wanted and believed in love. Sansa Stark captured the heart of the leading man on the show-Jon Snow- without any special powers. Sansa did not have dragons nor did she walk out a burning temple nude. Daario Naharis loved Dany because she had dragons, and she was the dragon queen. Sad.  Jon Snow fell in love with Sansa Stark because of her heart.
Jon’s entire arc on GOT has been to save the realm and to save Sansa.  I believe Sansa became Queen so she can eventually bring Jon back to Winterfell. The crypt teaser where there is a statue of an old Jon looking like he died a  King - proves that Jon will eventually come back to Winterfell as King. Jon and Sansa saved the world, yet they were not rewarded for it. I know real life is sometimes unfair. However,  this is a fantasy show where we have the power to write a fair ending for these two characters -  regardless of what the fanbase wants. I wish GOT explicitly validated Jon and Sansa’s romance in the final season. It’s a shame it ended with so much speculation about Jonsa. Given the fact that Jon and Sansa saved the realm and managed to survive in a cruel world…they deserved to live their love openly -  not secretively and apart.

Jonsa  Survived!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The television show GOT is over! Despite the fact that Jonsa and the Starks survived, the finale still broke our hearts!
My hope is that when season 8 gets to DVD they will have extra footage that will provide explanations and ,hopefully, show a Jonsa wedding. I don’t want the final image of Jon and Sansa to be of separation, emptiness and loneliness. Remember episode 4 in season 6 – Jon and Sansa reunited and said to each other  “WE NEVER SHOULD HAVE LEFT WINTERFELL.” “I WANT TO SCREAM AT MYSELF DON’T GO YOU IDIOT.” The finale was a major contradiction of this dialog and Jon and Sansa’s growth! There is only one way to repair the damage done to these two characters - A GOT sequel (in the movies)
I also want to take another stab at trying to figure out Jon’s behavior in episode 6.  I did not like it. I did not want to believe  that the Jon Snow we know and love would validate Dany’s horrible actions and in such a short amount of time of knowing her. There are only two characters that would overlook Dany’s faults and behave the way Jon did during Dany’s assassination scene - Tyrion or Jorah. It is my belief that Jon and Jorah could be the same person. I believe that Jon Snow is a greenseer, skinchanger or the 3 eyed raven. What if Jon was using Jorah’s body since season one to manipulate Dany. It would better explain Jon’s emotional breakdown in season 8 episode 6 when he finally had to kill Dany – Jorah had built an attachment to Dany as Queen for 8 seasons. Jon’s emotional reaction to killing Dany would then be justified. Jon is human. 8  seasons is a long time to know a character, and there would be an emotional attachment if he or she dies. Some clues that Jon and Jorah may be the same person – Episode 8.03 Ghost attacked the dead alongside Jorah. Why Jorah?  8.02 Jorah suggested that Dany speak with Sansa because Jorah  knew Dany was a threat to Sansa and wanted to smooth things over. How did Jorah know that Dany was a threat to Sansa? Jon would not have told Jorah.   Season 7 episode 7 Jorah left Longclaw with  Jon so he can pass it on to his children.
Tyrion also has a strong connection to Dany’s past. Remember Tyrion was married before, and we never were given information about his wife. Could Dany be Tyrion’s wife? The stabbing of Dany was in the heart – symbolic of the Nissa Nissa killing. Jorah made it a point to bring Tyrion to see Dany so  Tyrion can serve Dany and help control Dany’s evil ways. Jon as a greenseer using Tyrion to kill Dany is a possibility.
In summary, I hated Jon’s reaction to Dany’s horrible actions. However, I believe his emotions are tied to the long standing relationship he had with Dany as Jorah Mormont.  I can understand why he got emotional – he cared for her.   The bottom line is he chose love over duty – he did everything to save Sansa. I  believe Dany’s treason for love was being setup from Season one by Jorah. I am going to stick with my heroes Jon and Sansa. At the end of season 8, I believe a plan was set up - this time to save Jon. Everything happens for a reason. Jon and Sansa survived for a reason!

Sansa’s Heart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did you bend the knee to save the North or because you lover her?
In season 8, we only got one One-on-One scene with Jon and Sansa and it was a good one! I believe this is where we see Sansa’s fight for passion -  Jon’s heart. Look at the vulnerability and hurt on Sansa’s face as she asked Jon about his feelings for Dany.  Sansa who normally hides her emotions and feelings so well, bravely faced the possibility that she may have already lost Jon to Dany.  Asking this question, took a lot of courage. In this moment, Sansa who’s been through hell and back, showed Jon the beauty of her heart and the anguish she is going through because she is in love with him!

So Sad for JONSA
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want to look the horrible truth in the face one last time – Jon and Sansa suffered mostly throughout this series, yet Jon and Sansa setup the foundation to save the world. Why weren’t they rewarded for their hard work? I am glad Jonsa’s implied romance is over. It got to the point where it was too painful to watch and ship Jonsa  When it gets to that point, the character already died in the audience eyes. Yes, the show ended with hope that Jon and Sansa may re-unite. However, the fact that after 8 seasons,  we never got to see Jon and Sansa share a kiss as lovers, leaves me very disappointed.   Jonsa and the Starks ended the show separated again. So sad!
Season 6 was the best for Jonsa. By the end of season 6, we were given clues that Jon and Sansa might be the epic love story of GOT, and that Jonsa might rule as King and Queen together in the North. Then the season of Dany came and destroyed that vision and everything season 6 built. In season 6, the image of Jon walking away from Sansa from the battlement of Winterfell foreshadows Jon leaving Winterfell again. Jon is exiled to Castle Black.  Sansa is living without family in Winterfell. The further heartbreak is the show also left us with open questions about House Stark’s survival. Will Sansa want to produce a heir for House Stark without Jon? Why did Jon and Sansa survive the long Night only to be torn apart again? What duties do Jonsa still have left to complete?
I always had a bad feeling about Dany and Sansa’s connection. I believe in episode 6 it was Bran who warg into Drogon, destroyed the Iron Thorne and then flew away with Dany’s body. There is a purpose for Dany’s  body, and it relates back to Sansa. I believe Dany’s body is now part of Sansa.  Sansa suffered more than was revealed in the show. In season 1, Ned Stark made a big attempt to stop Robert Baratheon from killing  Daenerys Targaryen. It was part of Ned Stark’s arc all season long….keep Daenerys Targaryen alive. Then season 7 and 8 Jon Snow was aggressively trying to get Dany as an ally. Jon did not want anyone to know about his parentage because he felt they would try to kill Dany. It was critical that Dany stay alive and take the Iron Throne – again it related back to Sansa. Jon continued to  overlook Dany’s faults. “Why her?” Jon supported Dany as Queen to save Sansa. In addition, Sansa told Tyrion about Jon’s heritage to get Jon away from Dany. The irony is Jon was trying to save Sansa and Sansa was trying to save Jon. If Varys was successful poisoning Dany before she became Queen, the results would have been bad for Sansa.
The irony is Jon’s punishment for saving Sansa is he had to leave her again. Many people are saying that the letters Varys sent out spreading the word about Jon’s parentage will eventually force Jon to leave Castle Black and claim the Iron Throne. Sansa may have saved Jon too!  Dany was a major barrier for Jonsa to overcome. I feel  Jonsa will never be independent of Dany. She will forever be part of Jonsa.
Season 8 would have been a great story if we had Jon’s POV. Why did Jon and Sansa end the show alive? They are servants of the realm. Sansa and Jon will forever put aside their personal dreams and desire to be together as a family in Winterfell. Some higher deity is keeping them alive for a reason. Remember the speech Jon gave after the Long Night’ war. Jon and Sansa were foreshadowed as the ones to lead the way to honor the heroes lost and to ensure they are never forgotten – Theon, Jorah, Beric, Eddison, Lyanna, Ned Umber and Dany. Without Dany’s army and dragons they would have lost that war. We can say because Dany fell in love with Jon, the world was saved.
The show left us with so many open questions about house Stark’s survival and Jonsa. Who is the dynasty for?   I believe Sansa stays single until Jon returns or until they meet in the afterlife.

Jonsa’s Happy Ending  - Hope

I’ve been reading some of  Jonsa’s heartbreaking closing metas. Truthfully, based on all the clues in the show, I was only ready for a Jonsa endgame.
My worst fear came true - Jon and Sansa are apart again similar to season one. The past is repeating itself. However, Jonsa fans should not lose site that we had the best outcome possible on GOT - Jon picked Sansa to love. Sansa picked Jon to love.  After the parentage reveal, Jonsa happened.  It became GOT true love story! Regardless of the emotional turmoil Jon was going through before killing Dany, he did make it clear that he picked love over duty before stabbing Dany to death- he validated  Sansa and his love for Sansa.
I am grateful the writers ended Jon and Sansa’s story open ended. It could have been worse. We have been picking up the Jonsa clues throughout the series. We were not given a Jonsa happy ending directly. However, Jon and Sansa survived. The horror is similar to season one, the Starks have separated.  That leaves us only with hope - Hope of a Stark and Jonsa reunion. The existence of hope is Jonsa’s happy ending. Here are some HOPES I was left with:
1)     In many ways, the crowning of Sansa as queen without the Starks around, specifically Jon present, was very empty and lacking any emotional satisfaction. It was not Sansa’s goal to be Queen. She wanted to be home-in Winterfell- with Jon and the rest of her Stark family. Sansa crowning was not satisfying. She looked beautiful. However, did she look happy- the way she did at the feast staring at Jon? NO!  Remember the emptiness of Cersei being crowned Queen in season 6.
a.      HOPE – Sansa was crowned queen for a purpose.  Being crowned Queen will give her the power to pardon Jon and eventually get him back at Winterfell.
2)     The Starks survived! Bran is King in the South, Sansa is Queen in the North,  and Jon is leading the way at Castle Black / the wall  -close proximity to Sansa. Jon is at Castle Black to re-build it. He is going to help the wildings re-settle and become a better community. After seeing the destruction of KL, Arya is going to make the world a better place by killing  evil people.
a.      HOPE – The Starks will always be well protected because they won the game of thrones!
3)     Bran is King. Jon kept saying he did not want to be King. This parallels with  Ned Stark’s decision to not take the crown when he had the chance. Bran can see into the future and is an advocate of Jonsa. He knows the full history of Jonsa. He saw Sansa in her beautiful white wedding dress. In episode 1,  Bran told Sam to tell Jon about his parentage. Why? so that Jon and Sansa can finally consummate their love for each other before the Long Night. Yes, Bran was forced to punish Jon. What does he do? Sends Jon to Castle Black, so he can be close to Sansa. He could have sent Jon to Pentos or somewhere else far away.
a.      HOPE – Bran eventually grants Jon a pardon. Jon will be back at Winterfell.
4)     In season 8 at the feast, Sansa  looked very comfortable celebrating with Jon, Tormund and the wildings. Why show this?  To let us know the wildings will be part of the North under Sansa’s rule.  Sansa has the respect of the wildings. She saved them too in the Battle of the Bastards.
a.      HOPE- Sansa will travel to Castle Black to see Jon Snow.
5)     Why did Jon and Sansa survive?  Why not let them die together in each others arms the way Cersei and Jaimie did? The answer is simple. Jon and Sansa are servants to the realm. Jon and Sansa still have a purpose to fulfill. Someone had to survive to fight for the people and also honor those who lost their lives in the Long Night.
Finally, the Crypt in the Winterfell teaser really saved me a lot of distress. It showed an older Jon dressed like a Stark again.  Indicating that he will eventually come back to Winterfell as a Stark and possibly as King in the North. The statue of Sansa is by his side in the Crypt. That was satisfying to see.
a.      HOPE- Jon and Sansa will be together again in the afterlife.

The Crypt Teaser

This teaser gave a clearer ending than the series finale. Jon, Sansa and Arya will reunite and eventually be buried in the Winterfell Crypt.  Where is Bran?

JONSA FINAL THOUGHTS and FAREWELL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was so so, disappointed in season 8, that I was reluctant to even write my final Jonsa meta. I will not watch GOT re-runs or the prequel. It would be pointless. However, I have to get closure. So here is my final meta on Jonsa!
Do you realize that we only had ONE one-on-one Jonsa scene in season 8. As painful as it is to admit, political Jon was partially a myth! Jon supported Dany’s decision to destroy KL… so did Bran. Why? My guess is it was also filled with the living dead. I feel both Bran and Jon knew that Dany was going to  destroy KL – however, not at that cruel level. Also, as painful as it is to admit, Jon did have feelings for Dany. I am going to say that Jon falling in love with Sansa saved him from a similar toxic Cersei and Jaimie relationship. Sansa and Jon fell in love. Thats our Endgame.
Jonsa and the Starks did come out as winners – they survived. This meta is primarily to identify all the positive breadcrumbs the writers threw at the Jonsa hopefuls in season 8.
1) I truly believe Jonsa happened in episode 1 of season 8 - right after Jon learned the truth about his parentage.  In episode one, we find Jon in the Crypt after his talk with Sansa. Sam tells him his true parentage.  I believe right after Sam told Jon about his parentage, Jon went back to Sansa’s room and they consummated the relationship. Who told Sam to tell Jon the truth …Bran.
2) The proof that they consummated the relationship is in the opening scene of episode 2,  - Just look at Sansa. She is glowing.  They revealed the new Sansa, a woman who finally experienced the pleasure of intimacy with a man she loves. Sadly, Jon looked guilty about it because of Dany.
3) Jon in episode 2 has been avoiding Dany and brushing her off. He felt guilty about not returning her love. Again, Jon’s love for Sansa saved Jon from Dany.
4) Later in episode 2, before the war started, I believe Sam secretly married Jon and Sansa. Just look at Jon and Sam’s reaction after Tormund told them how much time they have left before the war started. Sam and Jon were up to something.  Jonsa wanted to get married before the war started because the world may come to an end, and they may never see each other again.
5) After the war, Sansa looked worried as she watches the dragons fly over Winterfell. She is very concerned for Jon’s safety around Dany. She feels he is underestimating Dany. What does she do? She tells Tyrion about Jon’s parentage, so Jon can see who Dany really is.  Dany delivered…she burned Varys alive. Plus, Sansa did not want Jon to go in the South. She wanted him close to her in the North. Sansa got her wish!
6) Bran knew KL was going to be destroyed. Jon knew KL was going to be destroyed. The relationship between Bran (the 3 eyed raven) and Jon was never revealed. If Jon did not fall in love with Sansa, he probably would have married Dany and played a bigger part in KL destruction.
7) Look at Sansa’s reaction after she had to kill Littlefinger. She cried - proving that she had feelings for Littlefinger.  She killed Littlefinger to protect Arya.  Similarly, Jon had feelings for Dany. Jon however did  killed Dany to protect Sansa.
8) Also, I believe, Sansa, Bran and Jon wanted Jaimie in KL when it fell. Sansa told Jaime she wish she was in KL to see Cersei die. She knew Jaimie loved Cersei and would go to KL to die with Cersei. They wanted Jaimie dead.
Dany is dead and Bran is now King. (Where is Meera?) Jon and Sansa are married and in love, why keep it a secret and why ship Jon off to the wall? One reason is to protect Sansa. If the unsullied knew Jon married Sansa while with Dany, they may try to kill Sansa for revenge. Jon killed a Queen. Bran may also have told Jon to go to the wall because of a new threat of a new Night King. The cycle repeats itself.
In summary, Jon still has a duty at the wall. Sansa still has a duty as Queen in the North. The heartbreak is we never will get to see on scene Jonsa share a kiss on the mouth or have a child together. There was so much speculation about Sansa having children with Jon. Very sad and not  bittersweet. AGAIN HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF! Hoping for Sansa to make many visits to TO SEE HER HUSBAND AT Castle Black AS QUEEN! Farewell Mr and Mrs. Jonsa!!

Jon Snow broke my heart. I will never forgive him for hurting Sansa's feelings at the feast. The smile he gave Dany was genuine.
Jon’s POV was never hidden despite what many (including myself at one point) believed. What he said and did was exactly what he felt and wanted. He believed Dany was his queen, he bent to her for love, he turned a blind eye to her murder of his best friend’s family, her constant threats towards his sister, and even almost turned a blind eye to her mass murder.
His POV was on full display the whole time many just refused to believe he actually believed what he said.

Jon broke my heart! I guess we should have seen this coming. He did care for Dany. Dany helped them win the great war! The smile they shared at the feast was genuine. Jon broke my heart! I can't believe I mis-read him. Jaime and Cersei were the love story of GOT.
Absolutley fucking disappointed!! All that build up for nothing. A show of this caliber and to have one of the worst series finale I have ever seen in my life. This is the first time I have watched an episode of GOT and literally felt no emotion save for the Stark family scene when Jon said goodbye. And even that brought a smidgen of emotion🙄. No fuckin Jonsa after all of that buildup, the only thing I can say didn’t disappoint me was Sansa becoming Queen. So mad I could legit cry😡
I didn’t even feel anything then. I felt a little nervous right before the episode started and then… nothing. Not a single scene moved me. Well, I felt a bit bad when Edmure was as always shut down but other than that? Nah.
Even Sansa becoming queen disappointed me because there was no one there to share that moment with her. Not even Brienne, who swore a vow to be her sword. Why didn’t Brienne stay by her side?
Sansa has no friends, no family, no anything. She’s been fighting for her family and the writers decided to leave her completely alone. They could’ve at least given her a puppy.

Yep. He did love her. What a con job!
Also I never thought I’d see the day that Jon would defend the actions behind Dany burning down a whole city! His ass was really boo boo the fool the entire time! Lol! I cannot!!! He really did love that girl! Lol!
