Anyway, all the most famous monarchs of England are girls. In English we really only have two imperial era names in common use (Elizabethan and Victorian) and they're both named after girls. The first recorded ruler in Japan (Queen Himiko) was a girl, and as mentioned in my previous post there have been various Japanese empresses. The most important Heian authors were all girls, since they could kind of write whatever while men were only supposed to write serious government stuff in serious classical Chinese (well that and poems). It's sort of ahistorical to say that The Tale of Genji was a novel but it's basically true that it was the first novel and it was written by a girl.
