"Really, it’s- It’s nothing, Kaede. If anything, it.. might be best I don’t talk about it."

Taking a step back, the detective quickly tried to change the subject.

"Um.. Anyways, how have you been doing, Kaede?"

There's a small knock on the door to the Detective's room, and a small muffled voice from the other side.

"Hi, Shuichi! It's me, Kaede! You missed the welcoming party and dinner... so I brought you some food!"

The sound of something being put away can faintly be heard before the door is unlocked, revealing a quite tired looking Shuichi.

"Mm? Oh uh.. Hi Kaede. You.. really didn’t have to do that, but thanks."

A small smile formed on the detective’s face before he quickly turned away.

"If you want you can just leave it on the desk right there. I.. need to finish something first, and then I’ll eat it."

"I’m uh.. sorry to disappoint?"

He mumbled with a frown, honestly unsure as to how to feel about the.. eccentricity of the older detective.

Shuichi was quickly caught off-guard once the other let go, stumbling; he instinctively tried to reach for his book. of course, it’s Shuichi- so that doesn’t go as planned. With Dazai’s constant dodging, he eventually gave up— dangling quite pathetically when caught by his shirt.

"J-Junior detective? Actually, nevermind. I- did you really have to just.. take my book like that? I really don’t like people touching my things without asking."

Interesting individuals was.. definitely one way to describe the fellow ultimates here, a way that Shuichi had to agree with. A look of confusion showed on the detective’s face at Dazai’s introduction, this was Dazai? He certainly shared a face with the Dazai he already knew but.. clearly there were differences between the two.

"..I’m Shuichi Saihara, it’s uh.. nice to meet you? My- my superior? That’s-"

"Ah! Another detective!~"

Immediately wrapping an arm around he younger detective's neck, Dazai beamed excitedly.

"Tell me dear investigator! How well is your deductive reasoning? Any famous cases I should know about? Anything special to your heart?"

"Perhaps something with a Carnival Games you'd like to share?~"

"H-huh?!"

Nearly jumping away from the other, Shuichi dropped the book and pen residing in his hands. The younger detective visibly tensed up once the other’s arm was wrapped around his neck. Trying his best not to make eye contact, he looked towards the ground; more specifically towards the fallen book and pen.

"I’m.. not really much of a detective- I uh. just got.. lucky, with a case, that’s all."

"You’ve been here longer than me, haven’t you? I’m sure whatever I have to say about those.. “games” you would probably already know.."
