Bad Wolf Ltd are offering fans of the award-winning series A Discovery of Witches the opportunity to purchase a selection of props and costumes in aid of the charities The Trevor Project (USA) and Place2Be (UK).
Adapted from Deborah Harkness’ best-selling novel, A Discovery of Witches is a contemporary love story set in our world, but a world which humans share with the declining species of witches, vampires and daemons – creatures existing and working amongst us, but hiding, unknown to most humans, in plain sight.
The items available have been carefully curated by the production team and include priceless creations made especially for the show.
Please help us raise funds by participating in our auction or by making a donation. The online auction will close at 5pm (BST) on 7th September 2023.
For information about the auction items and delivery please contact [email protected].
Thank you for your continued support.

I'm not a fan of that jacket. I think it's meant to be a blend of the 1590 styles and modern styles, but in my opinion it ages her.
Season 3 Diana. I’m not loving those shoulders and blouse; too busy and makes her look school-marmish. Wasn’t happy with Matt’s wedding outfit either. It looked so unfinished. Back in 1590, shouldn’t you have a clean white shirt underneath the coat to signal your wealth instead of a Nehru jacket knockoff? I wish Trystan G was back as Baldwin. Missing him. Thank you for allowing me to air my opinion. Love your blog.
Thank you! You are welcome. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.  I don't always post opinions but it sounds like you have some knowledge of 1590 fashion and I sure don't - I was still expecting codpieces (out of fashion then 🤦).
Might be a spoiler for people who haven't read the book ⬇️
Maybe the costume team are trying to make Diana look 'in charge' and more broad shouldered for her Congregation role. She's gonna have to be a strict school teacher to keep Domenico, Gerbert and the gang in check.  But I wouldn’t wear it if you paid me big bucks.

No idea about whether the wedding outfit was correct for the period but I loved it on Matthew. There's just a hint of the bright white shirt underneath - which I’d never noticed before.  The shape of it seemed to be similar to his other costumes with the stand up collar and the little wing things at his shoulders.   So yeah I was OK with that one ... for purely shallow reasons.

So agree about Trystan. He was a fantastic Baldwin and the new guy has a lot to live up to. I guess we have to wait and see on that one.

Just wanted to add:
Janet Arnold’s Patterns of Fashion: The Cut and Construction of Clothes for Men and Women c1560-1620 has a pattern for the Jerkin. It is listed in the book as “c.1560 Youth’s Leather Jerkin.” This book may have also been used for other clothes in Season Two
How could I get an outfit like the one Matthew wore in Season2 Episode1 of A Discovery of Witches?
Shirt: This is the easiest to find or make. If you don't want to make your own, this style of shirt can be found online. This style is sometimes called a pirate shirt, a poet shirt or a Renaissance shirt. Don't forget to add some lace to the edges of the collar!
Here are some links to patterns and instructions:
Smock and T-Tunic Pattern Generator
The Early Modern Shirt (c.1530-c1660)
Shirts
Jerkin: This is probably the hardest to find. You might be able to modify a leather vest or jacket from a thrift store.
Breeches: You can use leather pants or leggings. If you want to be super accurate you can sew or glue on a little flap in a certain *ahem* area.
Boots: Black riding boots would work well. You can also find leather boots sold as pirate boots that would work.
If you want to DIY, the Elizabethan Costume.net website is super helpful.
If you don't want to DIY, Etsy is a good source for Tudor and Renaissance things. You will have to pay more but the quality will be much better than something from a Halloween store. You may also be able to find someone who can recreate the jerkin.
