One thing that weirds me out about Gozyuger is that Sumino’s wins are always undercut in some way. Especially in the detective episode where Mashiro was just being very weird towards her and the latest two episodes where not only did she not get her sister back, the whole thing just feels like a setup for Rikuo’s development which is really weird.

It wouldn't be Tokusatsu without the hero having a terrible brother.

It's quite possible that Rei had something to do with Rikuo being forced off stage. The way he speaks to Rikuo, even as a child, feels like there's a sense of jealousy there. We don't know what their relationship is, but it does seem that Rei was pushing for distance between them. The way he speaks just feels condescending, like he doesn't think Rikuo is good enough and I wonder if this may be related to how Rikuo's world felt dull for so long. There's still a lot left to learn and to consider, but I am going to note this as a possibility.
