i know. i know that i’m not entitled to it i know that i likely don’t deserve it i know that i may sound selfish but. i am so very tired of not being listened to of not being seen for who i am of being ignored of taking everything without a word of being silent in pain and saying i’m fine. for once i just want to say that i’m not fine i’ll never be fine again but i want to be more than this. i want to be better than this. but before that. could i ask you just one thing? you’re free to say no you’re free to walk away but i need to ask or i’m afraid my voice will simply leave from being caged for too long. will you stay for just a little while longer? i don’t want to be alone anymore. —— // v.r.

She felt a tad bit more relaxed now.
After rubbing away her tears, she felt content. Calm.
This day was a win. As well as so many other days before and ahead, if they were alive, anyday would be a win.
“Cheers. We did it.”
‘ do you ever wonder what we learned? ‘ (uwu)
Francis glanced over at his companion from his seat. He stared at hercuriously, unsure of exactly what she meant.
 "You mean like, from theapocalypse? Or just life in general?“
He leaned back, resting his hands behind his head.
 "Life hasn’t taught me much,‘cept how to be a real menace to society. Shoot a gun, steal a television, itain’t really that hard,” he chuckled, gazing away to the chain-link fencesurrounding their little safe haven, “The apocalypse taught me a whole lotmore.”
It taught him how to react to betrayal. It taught him how to judgesomeone’s trustworthiness. It taught him that you can’t save everyone. All kinds of stuff.
But it also taught him that some people are worth saving.
 "So, yeah… I guess I do. Howabout you?“

“I would assume. If anything, I hope there is a way to get in.”
She spoke, once again moving forward. It struck her as... well, more so, she started thinking back when she was in school. From lunches to classwork, it all started making her feel sappy. Mostly, she wondered how it would feel to be back in school again.
On closer inspection, it was noted that multiple cars surrounded the building, as well as giant letters and signs.
It then struck her.
“Wait. Did... CEDA run this as a place??”
"Didn't expect to see another person out here... You are human, right?" {I hope this is okay! Just let me know if you want something else!}
When the voice from above spoke out, it was like the female nearly fell back. It was so sudden, yet not unwelcomed. It had some time since she found someone ‘alive’.
So when she looked up to see a male, joy was the first thing she could feel. Relief maybe too. But mostly, joyful to see she wasn’t alone in the world yet. Yet.
“Oh! Hello! Yes! Very much so!”She quickly responded, lowering the baseball bat she held. A smile formed on her face before she glanced around, soon returning her gaze back up towards the other.
“How goes it sir?”

Lucille, who glance at him with a small sad expression, softened her look with a small smile. Honestly, Francis found himself to be... well, not the ideal role model, but to her, he seemed perfectly fine.
With that moment, she laughed softly, soon glancing back towards the world around them, taking a moment to breathe in and out. To take in the world at this very moment. To take in... life.
“Maybe we were destined to meet each other, don’t you think? A gruff older man who is a kid... a kid who tries to be the adult she aspires to be? We make an odd pair... but we made it through hell. The Odd Pair made it.”
Lightly, she moved and patted Francis’ shoulder, using her free hand to rub her eyes. “For now, let’s see if we can take on the world now. Seeing how we bashed through hordes and crazy shit thrown at us... we can get through anything together.”
‘ do you ever wonder what we learned? ‘ (uwu)

As the time went on, Lucille found herself walking in a pattern. From left foot to right foot, she counted. It was some time before she glanced up, noticing how far they had gotten.
They could see the sign of the school approaching them with each step they took and Lucille couldn’t help but squint.
The sign was destroyed, but some letters were there. Though, it was hard to read any of it.. “... hmm... let’s just hope the school is actually in one piece..” She spoke softly, giving Francis a small look before continuing on.
"Didn't expect to see another person out here... You are human, right?" {I hope this is okay! Just let me know if you want something else!}

“... I never was honest with you.” She mumbled softly, now bringing up her knees to her chest.
“... about my situation.”
It felt like heavy bricks on her heart but... she needed to tell the other. It felt... important for him to know the truth more than anything. Of course, he deserved the truth. After spending as much time together as they did...
“... the day we met, I felt like that was the end of the world for me. I remember that week was the worst week of my life. Yes, I was... kicked out of my group for being a weak link... but... I was kicked out of my group because I  got into a fight with the leader.”
Lucille didn’t look over at Francis. Instead, she went on.
“... that week was the week I lost my friend Jaylenn. He... He took a bite from one of the infected and nearly died if I had not picked him back up. But... by the time we returned from scouting, our group... turned, and like an instant, shot my friend right through the head, even when I was still holding him.” She could relive that day... in each dream she had. It wasn’t as bad as before, but even before she met Francis, that whole week... she could see the blood staining her clothes and hands.
“They didn’t help him. They didn’t try. They just shot him dead without warning and... and Francis, he was all that I had left at the time. M-My true home for the time being and.. and truly believe that I was next. I thought... I truly thought...”
It... took her a moment for her to.. realize the tears flowing down her cheeks. It was like she was nearly.. breaking down. This was... probably okay.. natural... who knows...
“Francis. That week... I believe that week was the week I might’ve died. I didn’t care what would’ve happened to me but... then I met you. And... when I did.... I felt like maybe... just maybe, there is a chance to feel alive and safe again.”
Lucille, despite the tears, smiled towards Francis.
“I’m... really glad that I met you Francis. Because now, I have someone here with me. Who I can truly look up to. I feel safer knowing you’re here, as well as a little less lonely. Even after the nonsense we deal with and go through, at the end of the day, I am so glad it’s you who’s there.”
‘ do you ever wonder what we learned? ‘ (uwu)

“You could say that. My friends lived around the area and since... well... I came with them to a wedding. Heh. But that was back in West Virgina. It’s been such a long time though. I attended college in West Virgina, as well as attended a wedding there. But then, when I got called back to a brides maid panic, I... got separated from everyone else.. due to the... infection.”
She... then sighed softly. Man. It had been some time, especially with how things were.
She felt like it was yesterday when the wedding took place when in reality... it had been a good couple of months. She remembered the day she wore that dumb white brides maid dress.  ‘You look like a Princess!’ ‘So precious!’ ‘When will you get married?’
Lucille softly scoffed to herself. Those comments. She heard them all that very day when she traveled with her friend at the time. Lucille had been invited to a relative’s wedding and since she was in the area, she decided to go with her friend. Though, they both were brides maids, she couldn’t help but feel anxious that day too. It was all so sudden, being surrounded by family she never met before. Especially family she wasn’t even related to in the beginning.
She found herself shuddering at trying to remember the past. How she got here.
It hurt her head, as well as her heart...
“... either way, I am glad that I at least know the place... here, let’s see how many steps we have to take to reach our destination, yeah?” She smiled softly now, soon moving head as she lightly held her arm.
"Didn't expect to see another person out here... You are human, right?" {I hope this is okay! Just let me know if you want something else!}

“You call me a kid? You’re just as a kid as I am!”
She grinned, nudging the other playfully in the shoulder, her eyes bright with childlike wonder. Never did she pictured this happening. Sitting beside a man she found a stranger... only for time to pass to reveal he in fact was someone she would stick with till the very end.
It was nice. Having a place to call home now.
With how everything ended... She thought this was now her happy ending. She hoped this was Francis’ happy ending too. “Look at us. Two kids. Well, a old man and a young female. But still, we are kids.”
Lucille wanted to amuse the other. Time had gone by and she nearly forgotten how old she was. Man... time really had changed. Before she met Francis, it was at least a good couple of months before her 20th birthday. Not that she was excited for it. It only meant that she was really growing old. But, yet again, she... missed it. The idea of a birthday party.  But then again... as life started to get well.. maybe they could make up for lost times!
“Hey, Francis? Remember the day we met?”
‘ do you ever wonder what we learned? ‘ (uwu)

With a determined glint in her eyes, she smiled. “Then it is officially settled again!”
It was nice, talking to someone. Talking to someone alive.
Francis was nice, very kind and seemed to know his stuff. She enjoyed his company.
“I’ll be happy just to find anything useful really.” She then went along side the male, sort of in her own world as she begin to think of what was to come next. Who knew what was beyond the school grounds. She just had to keep positive though..
"Didn't expect to see another person out here... You are human, right?" {I hope this is okay! Just let me know if you want something else!}

“... yeah... I think so too. Taught us alot of things. Things that some people shouldn’t even consider yet.”
It was rough, living during the infection. From days of restless nights to emptied stomachs, aching to be filled with anything, just to stop the pain.  She could remember so clearly, each day. Not that she could ever forget anything from the apocalypse. Mostly...
She really couldn’t believe she would be the one of many to survive such a cruel experience.
It hurt to know people she knew before were out there, either dead or alive, but she would never take time to find out. She felt a sense of security after meeting with Francis. The first few days were nice, but after that, she felt like she could consider him someone she looked up to.
Overall, the idea of leaving the male sounded surreal.  She had spent so much time with him that it would feel awful just leaving him for people who may or may not be alive. Let alone, may or may not even care or remember a girl like her. Was it safe to say she would rather forget her old life to be here with Francis? Where thing’s seemed to play out smoothly now? Where it seems like Francis was a home now?
“... seem’s like we stuck through till the end, eh Francis?” She mused, giving a small slanted smile as she looked tired. Tired from all those days of running; surviving. But that was over, right? The feeling?
‘ do you ever wonder what we learned? ‘ (uwu)

“I could go for some Sloppy Joe’s right now.”
Lucille sighed, rubbing her stomach slightly with a faint smile. “That... or a Burger. Gosh, I’m honestly up for a cookout right now.”
In general, food sounded quite nice. She could swear she smelt the distant scent of grilled ribs and other things, but it mostly was in her head. “If we are lucky, we may be able to hit a teachers area! I know for a fact they have a special area for the teachers where they could relax and eat!”
"Didn't expect to see another person out here... You are human, right?" {I hope this is okay! Just let me know if you want something else!}

What’s the one thing I fear? Finding a friend dead before my eyes… when they still are human.
I had this originally to be the fearful expression, but this turned into something more. I hope you can forgive ;w; Also, I will do the other expression soon because this needs a happy ending uwu

With a giggle, she nodded. “Agreed. Now, let’s just hope we can keep that same childlike wonder...”
Being an adult wasn’t easy, but with how things were going... just living nowadays wasn’t so easy. Hopefully... just hopefully, they could make it out here.
“... I think I see the school up ahead! Kinda far, seeing that its... but a dot, and the sign here saying we are close. Let’s see if we can find anything useful like you mentioned!”

“Oh believe me, I got my fair share of in school detentions for helping in that kind of stuff.” She went on, soon grinning once more.
“My parent’s didn’t like my rouge like behavior, but man, I was a kid! Even I knew that. I’d rather enjoy my childhood instead of losing it. No one liked my rebellious behavior. Well... some kids did. But not all of them. Not like I cared at the time.”
She found herself holding her arm now, thinking back to the time where being hip as a kid was nice. Especially in schools.
“I felt like it was too much after I hit the 5th grade. After being pushed around to fit people’s expectations, I sort of decided to go for a... well... more suited way at going about things. Started doing what I wanted to do instead of what others wanted me to do. Of course, I still did my work, but in my own ways.”
