HDG is just so... fascinating to me. The fact that every major fic is about trans women so very much speaks to the greater Affini fantasy that isn't just "giant aliens" and "shapeshifting plant women", it's about... fulfillment, and the ability to fucking RELAX
Like. I used to daydream to sleep about what I would do with millions of dollars, an endless supply of money. This fantasy is *better* than that, the idea of a post-scarcity society where there is a group who loves you unconditionally for who you are, regardless of how you present, and wants to nurture you? That deep feeling of being genuinely, genuinely wanted and not a burden for trying to exist in a world that is actively hostile to you?
It's so appealing. So, so appealing. So much so that we would well and truly give up our autonomy in this situation. I would. It's just.. so telling and sad how many trans women would be willing to trade away that biggest scar on their identity - their humanity - to be accepted and loved and helped. That's all it takes. To be given the ability to grow, and to be told we aren't a burden. We'd do anything for that.

Today in obscure Doctor Who jokes:
Somebody on Twitter pointed out that the Big Finish companion Hex is canonically from the year 2021, so when he occasionally abbreviates the word "suspicious" to "sus," it's probably an Among Us reference.
The punchline is that this character was actually introduced back in 2004. It was made-up future slang that they happened to get right.

I made a font! During a project the other year I decided I hated every free ‘Ancient Greek’ style font available for their many sins - looking like the typeface equivalent of medieval drawings of foreign animals, using Σ for E, being mashed up with rune-style fonts like heorot, having either only a greek charset or only a latin charset… so I thought I’d try making one myself. A font family, in fact: there are 8 total sets, one group monospaced, one group kerned. The 4 styles are: round/regular, heavy, light and ‘engraved’, a 3D-ish effect. You can download them from here

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, to listen to doctors and get my flu vaccine and any shots i could because they remembered Before.
then they started fighting Covid precautions.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that the ozone was disappearing and the earth was dying and we needed to recycle and save the planet.
now my parents think climate change is a myth.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that racism was a plague, that we had to love and accept everyone, that we should never judge before walking a mile in their shoes.
then they told me that protesting for my Black siblings was wrong.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that we needed to give to the poor. working at soup kitchens. making quilts. collecting food and money and supplies. building houses. because it was the christian and just plain right thing to do.
now they look at me, on food stamps with their grandchildren, and lament the "welfare state".
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and that any rich man, especially an immoral one, should never run our country.
you can guess who they voted for.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, so very much.
when did they forget?

Clearly their opposition to capitalism is not from being indoctrinated by their professors.
