I found this to be very interesting. Very different times, where workers were thankful for employment and their Christmas spirit lead to a tradition still celebrated today...👍🏼

December, 1931 — construction workers, thankful for employment in a time when it was sparse, pooled their money together to buy the first in a long tradition of Rockefeller Center trees. They took a twenty foot balsam fir and put it up in the center of the newly cleared work site. The men decorated the tree with various items including tin cans, cranberries, and paper garlands made by some of their families but it was unlit. The foreman placed a small table under it were he handed out the worker’s paychecks before they went home to their families for Christmas. (at Rockefeller Center New York)

We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
