Okay, I understand we’re all excited about shows like Mob Psycho 100 and Yuri!!! on Ice right now, but I think we should acknowledge the true anime of the season which has slipped through the cracks, boasting beautiful artwork, a stunningly complex plot, and some of the most nuanced characterisation that I have ever had the pleasure of viewing.

Just a heads up to those of you booking a hotel room!

There are a few reports of the hotels requesting payment at the time of reservation. I have not been able to confirm how legit that is at this time.

Ready to sign up a cosplay gathering for next year? You've arrived at the right spot!

Maps for 2017 have not been released due to the ongoing construction at the Hilton Anatole.

Instead of making you wait on the maps, as a number of groups have already requested sign-ups, we have opened up Pre-Reg for Cosplay Gatherings!

How does it work?

Pre-Reg gives you the ability to sign up before the maps are public! You'll get first dibs on your preferred time and location and not have to worry about scrambling with other groups.

- Fill out the form below,  provide a valid e-mail address, and a link to the PUBLIC Event on Facebook.

- There are no minimums for groups next year (we'll have the space for it, yea!)

- Once the maps for 2017 are released, you will be contacted via e-mail and given 2 weeks to select a time, date, and location for your gathering.

- If you do not make a selection after 2 weeks, you will forfeit your Pre-Reg slot.

- Groups will be contacted in order of submission. If there is high demand for Pre-Reg, we will contact leaders in sets of 4-6 and ask you to pick up to two time slots/locations to ensure a faster turn-around time.

- Once you make your selection, you can not change it until the sign-up form is available to the general public.

Rules for Gatherings:

- Limit of 1 gathering from the same series per day. Example: Two Hetalia gatherings can not be held on Friday, but one can occur on Friday, and the other on Saturday.

- If another group of the same series signs up to Pre-Reg before you, we will direct you to the other group to merge your gatherings. This is to prevent multiple groups from the same series signing up on the same day.

- Please provide a PUBLIC Facebook Event link. Do not use mobile links. Guidebook can not read them. Your web link must start with http://www.  or https://www.    

If you provide an https://m. link, you will be removed from the Pre-Reg list and notified of the invalid entry. Failure to follow these rules will result in your removal from the Pre-Reg list.

So I don’t know all the logistics, but it looks like A-Kon it taking over at MINIMUM of 4 whole blocks of Ft. Worth.  That’s a lot of real estate.

The Fort Worth Convention Center is within walking distance of thousands of downtown Fort Worth hotel rooms, a variety of delicious restaurants and fabulous shopping, and offers more than 250,000 square feet of exhibit space, nearly 60,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, an impressive 28,160 square-foot ballroom, a 13,500 person events arena, and a 55,000 square foot events plaza that connects to the one-of-a-kind Fort Worth Water Gardens.

The Fort Worth Convention Center is located at 1201 Houston St, Fort Worth, TX 76102 in the heart of downtown Fort Worth.

MAKING RESERVATIONS

For your convenience, all hotel room booking will now be provided via Hotels for Hope/A-Kon® housing portal. Our portal will give you access to the best hotel spaces and rates available for the event. The booking portal will open on or before October 12th, 2016. We will update this page as well as our Facebook page as soon as the portal opens!

I'm super hyped for the new location! Ft worth is better than Dallas anyway B)

I can’t say which city is better, but I CAN say the new location will have a lot of things people complained about.

Like access to food places that aren’t just food trucks. 

If you look on a google map you’ll see it’s within walking distance to a ton of restaurants. 

I have already seen people get excited about the access to the train which has a stop less than 10 minutes away by foot. And space. There will be a lot more space. 

And those worrying about it not being a 24 hour con due to it being a convention center - fear not! Looks like there are plans to use space at some of the hotels as well.
