You know what--here's another Date Everything hot take:

A lot of you chose to actively avoid the content aware mode and then got mad when the characters were overtly sexual. "Why is Hector so freaky?" "I didn't consent to Sophia" YES YOU DID.

You did consent to it when you went on to the steam store page and saw "sexual content" and still payed money for the game, and you consented even more when you chose to keep the content aware mode off!

I swear some of you have no concept of "this media isn't real and can't hurt me" because why are we acting like a fictional safe in a fictional video game can cause you real harm?? Why are we implying that Hector is some gross disgusting person when he's not even real?? It's agonizing watching streamers I LIKE play this game and get confused when the characters are freaky--it's a dating game with sexual content, please grow up.

And don't even get me started on the plethora of people who clearly haven't played a Dating Game before and get confused when you have to--date the characters in order for them to fall in love with you--

God I was so fucking cautious to see Hector's story because of the demo but I finally saw a playthrough and I finally get why you all love him so much.

He's less.... creepy than I was expecting for his content warning. He honestly kinda reminds me of one of my friends I've known for 2 years online.

He's definally gonna be a new friend f/o, not yet sure about queerplatonic.

(He did have a content warning, right? I went to Google to double check, and there was a reddit of someone frustrated that he didn't have one.)

I feel like people are very black and white about Dorian's aromantism.

As an aromatic myself (Aroflux) People tend to immediately jump to the conclusion that someone is 100% romance repulsed as soon as an they mention that they dislike romance. Which kinda irks me cause romance is a spectrum. Sometimes people are romance repulsed due to personal trauma/or struggles not because they are aromantic.

SPOILER:

if you play Keith's route, you will know that him and Dorian used to date and Dorian still has feelings for him. AND if you know Keith, he is one manipulative MFK so I wouldn't even be surprised if their relationship was toxic and that might be the reason why Dorian became the way he is.

I'm not saying that Dorian cannot be aromantic. YES, he CAN be both aromatic and date, YES he can be that AND still have relationship trauma. I just wish people stop making Aromantism so B&W because is it NOT.

Personally I think he is a very complicated character. I don't think he would label himself, I think his place of hating romance comes from a bad past with his ex. He could be on the Aro spectrum but not fully aromantic (After all you can romance him.)

Puh sorry for rambling. Summary:

Please remember that aromantism is a spectrum!!! And stop forcing your HCs onto other people who do romance Dorian and ship him.
