Shout out to the Superman movie for pulling the exact monster that has haunted my paranoid delusions since I was like 8 years old and then using it in maybe three scenes and never actually acknowledging that they are there

Hands down, my favourite little little detail of the new Superman movie is how they made Supes react to Kryptonite.
Like previous depictions have had him glow green, or shrivel up, or made his veins turn black for some reason. Not this movie, though.
No, they gave him straight up ANAPHYLAXIS. His face was swelling, his skin was blotchy, he was struggling to fucking BREATHE.
And it made it so much harder to watch than any other Kryptonite poisoning I've ever seen - in live action, animation, or comics - because it actually gave us a frame of reference for what it was like. Anaphylactic shock is a thing that happens in real life to real people. Even those of us who have been lucky enough not to experience it directly have some idea of what it would feel like. We know the stakes. We know how dangerous it is.
And I think depicting it this way was a really clever addition to a movie about how human Superman really is.

I love that Superman says “what the hey dude” and “golly” and “gosh!” And “darn I can be such a jerk sometimes :(“ completely ironically without being silly. I love him

Hilarious to me how BvS waste so much of its runtime to give Lex some complicated philosophical reason for hating Superman so the movie can appear deep and Superman 2025 comes along and just has him say out loud "Of course I envy you, stupid" and it works a million times better.

While I wasn't super (haha) into this movie like I wanted to be, I still understood the message it was sending: being kind, doing your best, try to help as many as you can, genocide is wrong, not all is lost, nobody is illegal, people should be able to live anywhere, etc. We definitely need more kindness AND understanding in the world. Let's make it happen.

The funniest scenes in Superman (2025) was when Lex used Ultraman for something other than punching Superman. Because you just know ordering this clone around gives Lex such a powertrip.
This bald mf took him to the Pentagon to standby and turn the lights on for his powerpoint. He had him stand in the pocket dimension for god knows how long just to hand a doughnut to the Boravian president.
It sends me into stitches just thinking about it. I genuinely hope Lex just sent Ultraman to the doughnut shop with a 5 dollar bill and he just silently waited in line until it was his turn to order. Just another day in Metropolis.
Do you think Lex had him do his laundry? I do. I really do.
