Since his introduction, we've seen that Kid has a strong connection to the overall storyline and other characters. We see his progress post timeskip, even cutting to him during arcs he's not a part of, and he's been in half the total anime openings since his introduction.

As the Supernova who had the highest initial bounty he's set up as a rival to Luffy. While their personalities are opposite, Kid's attacks are shown to mirror Luffy's gear 3 and 4. Based on this it seems likely that he will eventually gain an ability to mirror Gear 5 as well.
He's also got a connection to Vegapunk. It's unclear just what it is currently, but it's important to note that Kid gained his “Punk” naming system and major mechanical creations after we learn about VP. In his childhood art, he's even holding a robot.
His strongest attack, Damned Punk has a very visible 07 on the side, we're shown it several times. When the SH crew reaches Egghead VP explains there are six punks on the island. This seems to indicate there may be more in the world.

The Sea Beast Weapons seem to confirm this, as there are 8 of them. It appears they mirror Vegapunk and his Satellites, but this leaves us with one extra who just happens to look like Kid. It's also worth noting that "Kid's" sea beast is the only one not wearing the eye mask.

With Elbaph unfolding currently, we are seeing a lot of devil imagery. This makes the religious symbolism in Kid's creations all the more fascinating, because they are full of it. The most obvious is the backing of Punk Rotten, which is very clearly matching the cross of Nika.

The skulls of PR and Corna Dio also have spiked halos. For someone who is seen as a monster, Kid certainly uses a lot of heavenly imagery. Will this play a part in the devilish saga currently in play?

Something I just noticed that may or may not be related is that Wire's outfit is different in Elbaph. It reminds me of Renaissance Madonna images. Again, this one may just be coincidence but... It also might not be.

The last point I want to make is that of the Horned God. Punk Corna Dio is based on the heavy metal hand gesture started by artist Dio, but also can be interpreted as Horned God. He could have called it something like Toro Dio, but he didn't.

This isn't the first time we see horned skulls, since both Road and one of the Holy Knights wear them. And then we have Chopper, who turns into a massive horned being. The concept of the Horned God seems to be one we see throughout the series.
Kaido and the Ancient Giants are also horned beings, and now we are seeing horned devils as well. It's interesting to me that the only other Sea Beast weapon to resemble another character just happens to be Chopper, and it's shown next to "Kid".
While Kid's fate is currently unknown, it seems Luffy has taken his fashion decisions from him, going with the belted leather kilt and red feathered coat. Luffy tends to mimic others, so could it be a nod to someone who helped him in Wano?
Additional thoughts: Nika/Joyboy connected to not only liberation but laughter, and now because of Killer's Smile the crew has chosen to laugh along with him. Will they be free of the false happiness forced by the false DFs one day?

Or has Killer found a way to overcome it already? Regardless of circumstance or emotion, he shouldn't be able to *not* smile, as we saw with the people of Wano at Yasui's execution. Yet we see here that he's not. There's a reason we're shown this brief scene.

Finally, we see Demalo Black and co. cosplaying Kid. This means we'll see a confrontation eventually, as in Sabaody. I think Cross Guild may play into freeing the false crew. Funny that Black disparages Joyboy when we see that Kid may be a Nika disciple.
There's a lot of little details about Kid, and individually you might chalk them up to coincidence. But taken together, they really start to add up. His role isn't finished yet, and I believe we'll see him again soon in Elbaph.

Attempting a comprehensive Kid thread... Starting with his connection to the real life Captain Kidd. Aside from the name, there's a few elements that Oda took from the irl Kidd...

Namely his bad luck and that he suffered a humiliating loss to the same person twice, once at the beginning of his journey and once toward the end. This mirrors his losses to Shanks, although there is plenty of evidence to support that he will return, but that's another thread.
The real Kidd was, well, not a great pirate. He didn't have a loyal crew and suffered a series of misfortunes from the start. Oda shows us time and again that his Kid is actually a strong and determined pirate who isn't afraid to face opponents stronger than himself.

His crew are loyal to him, being former gang leaders and their followers that he united behind him when he united his home island after his childhood love Victoria was murdered.
Kid was never meant to be an actual villain. We know from Shakky that he got his bounty because he killed civilians. Or so the WG states. However, the real Kidd was also the subject of misinformation.
While he did accidentally kill crewmate William Moore in a fit of rage, the majority of his supposed exploits came from made-up tales that greatly exaggerated his misdeeds. Here's a brief history (and tasty drink) from my fav food historian.
youtube
Our Kid has a first mate and crew that he cares deeply for, but what if Oda took inspiration from this and we find out that Victoria's murder was pinned on him? We already know from Caribou's explanation of how Kid lost his arm that there's misinformation about him circulating.

I think Oda will give Captain Kid a comeback, redeeming the reputation of his real-life inspiration. For now, here's my favorite version of the ballad of Captain Kidd by Great Big Sea!

Went to Universal Fan Fest! There were so many OP fans, and even though it didn't have any big event for it aside from themed food it was awesome to see a sea of straw hats. The D&D and Back to the Future events were amazing.

This gelatinous cube was like triple thick jello and the weirdest texture ever but it was good!

"Dunno, kid." He shrugs. "I'm far from an expert on how it all works. Arkveld's unlike anything I've ever heard of before. Though I suppose, if it's able to lay eggs, and someone with a Kinship Stone were to come across one of 'em..." His brows knit in thought. "Then maybe. But Arkveld's also still trying to figure out its place in this world. And that could affect it too..."
"See, the first Riders I met, there was a kid named Cheval. He ended up gettin' his mitts on a rare Monster, one right out of legend. It was called Versa Pietru, a white dragon. But Cheval, he was full of rage. Monsters had destroyed his village, and he'd lost his family to them. Despite being a Rider, he let his anger take over. And it caused that darkness to spread to his companion, turning it into Makili Pietru, and that guy was ready to destroy everything it could."
"Geez, now that I think about it I got roped into some wild situations." He groans, shoulders slumping. "Thankfully, his friends helped set him right, and he learned from his mistakes. It was still a giant hassle that was mostly the fault of that Manegler guy. But I guess what I'm saying is that I could see Arkveld bein' similar. If it's already struggling to learn where it belongs, I'd imagine it would need a Rider who is ready to help it along. You know, 'pure of heart' kind of stuff." He grins, giving Nata's shoulder a playful nudge. "Think you'd be up to it?"
"RIDERS." THE WORD IS PARROTED WITH THOUGHT. In fairness to himself, he didn't know anything about befriending animals, or even that they could be utilized in such a way. The Keepers never defended themselves with weapons; rather, they used the silk from the cocoons to craft their robes, which disguised them from the eyes of the Guardians. Even their food consisted only of plants, which were grown using the wyvern milk drawn from the Dragontorch . . .
Nata hadn't known about aptonoth, or wingdrakes, or even the seikret until he had left home. And now—it was entirely possible to befriend large monsters? Even rathalos?
"Mnn." At Reverto's own pondering, Nata shrugs slightly, and bows his head, equally as uncertain. It's hard not to let your imagination run wild when you're told that there are people out there who are friends with fearsome monsters. Even if it was wishful thinking, Nata couldn't help but entertain a question in his mind.
"Do you think . . . then, with Arkveld . . . someone could form 'kinship' with it?"
