I have been thinking about Khan Noonien Singh and the Augment Empire.

Imagine it not from Istanbul to Tokyo, as in cannon, but in the United States, the country with the world's biggest military.

The idea that a person has to be thin, beautiful, young, intelligent, and physically fit in order to have value as a person. Wanting the homeless, who are mostly kids who aged out of the foster care system, or who lost their housing due to covid to just disappear and not caring where they go once they're out of your sight. Believing that there's a certain "class" of people who belong in dead-end jobs that they hate and run down housing that they can't afford.

The belief that whether you are doing well or poorly in life has to do with the quality of your very soul, and thus, whatever you get is God's will.

Someone, a scientist, stands up and promises you the best, the most intelligent leaders, guarantees that the test-tube babies he's building will be educated, and inculcated with the right values.

They are thin, beautiful, young, intelligent, and physically fit, to a degree that ordinary people could never be.

And soon, as the panopticon becomes more detailed and complete, people who are above being questioned by mere mortals will use that information for what they consider to be "the good of society."

The "class of people" who are meant to do the grunt work is suddenly you. Suddenly, it's everyone who isn't an augment.
