Damn son. 😘
No but, seriously I love this costume. It's such an unusual color in figure skating in general, especially in men's fs. Heck, I love most of Yuzu's costumes. It's so refreshing to see a guy wear colors, when the current trend in men's figure skating is to wear black. Sure, an all black look is very striking against the white of the ice, but when everyone is wearing black it can get a bit grim, almost funereal? So I really appreciate the fact that Yuzu goes against the grain and gives the audience that splash of color. He really is one of a kind.

So I love the Harry Potter movies. And ya know how people will talk about the terrible child acting, how cringey the performances were? They'll say things like 'I know its pretty bad to start with, but stick with it. Things will improve.'
Here's the thing - I don't love the movie in spite of that, I love it BECAUSE of that. Like most of those kids had little to no experience at all when they were hired. They had absolutely no idea what they were doing. They just had to muddle through and figure it out as they went along. And despite how rough those earlier performances were, they were allowed the chance to learn and grow into the actors they are today. Because someone looked past the flaws and gave them an opportunity to grow and surpass their awkward earlier selves. And I really appreciate that.

Yeah I know everyone goes on about the greatness of Potter Puppet Pals and A Very Potter Musical, but Wizard People Dear Readers is grossly underappreciated in this fandom and needs to be required viewing for Harry Potter fans. It’s an “audiobook” of Harry Potter from 2004 that you play over the first film with the sound off, where basically a drunk guy who’s never read the books and hadn’t watched all the movies narrates his version of the story. It’s… it’s a masterpiece

I am looking to get Yuzu's two biographies, yume wo ikiru and the quotes book. However, I don't understand Japanese xD and would like to ask if yume wo ikiru and the quotes book have any english translations available? I know the two biographies have them :D Also, if you have any recommendations on other Yuzu books/magazines to get, that would be awesome 😁😁
Hey there! @wherespacepooh has translated several chapters of Yume wo Ikiru. As for the quotes, @kaerb has translated some here. As far as I know, there are no full translations, but follow the above blogs and keep your eyes peeled for their updates! Also, remember to hang on to your proof of purchase (e.g. a receipt) for the books if you do buy them. Some fans do translations but will only release them to people who can prove that they’ve bought the book.
The two biographies are already excellent book choices on your part! If you’re interested in photo books, I recommend the YUZURU photobook by Sunao Noto, a long-time photographer of Yuzuru. I have it, and it’s gorgeous! As Yume Wo Ikiru is a compilation of Yuzuru’s interviews published in Vol. 1-7 of Ice Jewels, if you do buy the book, then you can skip on buying these volumes of Ice Jewels.
If you want previews of Yuzuru-related magazine issues to help you decide which to buy, check this Planet Hanyu thread out. Otherwise, you can also check out other fans’ reviews and recommendations here - take note of which books have more pictures and less words, since there aren’t always translations available.
Thanks for asking! <3 We hope this helped!

The more I read Aoi Hono 2, just like any of his interviews, I continue to be amazed by his bravery, his open mindset, his humility and his passion. This excerpt is probably not anything new, but after reading this again, I’m reminded that whatever happens, this Olympic cycle has been a fun and valuable experience for him, and he has had a lot of fun challenging his limits and competing with others. And that is enough for me :3 tho maybe not for that stubborn kid XD
….After the Sochi Olympics season, he did think about retiring as he was burned out, but for now, competitions are definitely fun.
“I think that I couldn’t give up after all (after the Sochi Olympics season). The bitterness back then, maybe I can say it like this now because I’ve overcome it, but back then I became the Olympic Champion in the blink of an eye without any sense of accomplishment, so the gap of it with my environment was too big. But I think I became who I am today because I had such thoughts at the age of 19. And I’m also having a lot of new experiences.
This season, Boyang jumping quad lutz was something big, wasn’t it? And also Uno jumping quad flip. This season, with the young skaters, Patrick, Javi, everyone made progress, didn’t they? Making progress, or should I say they’re evolving. It’s because everyone has been raising the level of difficulty a lot. Not because I am the Olympic Champion or the World Records holder, it doesn’t have anything to do with those things, I am happy just as a skater. It’s exciting just to be a part of it and to compete. Right now is probably the most exciting time in skating.
Back in Sochi Olympics, the top skaters had 2 quads [in their program]. Though everyone didn’t do well in the free. While now is the era where we compete with the types of quad. Somehow it has reached the level that I had imagined ever since I was small. Therefore, clearly saying, it’s exciting. And that is also not the doing of only myself. Each athlete has their own strengths and admirable sides. For example, Boyang’s quads, Javi’s steadiness, or Patrick’s skating, there are a lot, aren’t there? Because I can admire each of those things, I really don’t think that I’m on the very top at all. It’s because I came to feel that "Ah, human can jump even more!” (laugh). That’s why it’s fun, as I have a goal.
In 4 years, I can still advance on the technical side. I said it when I was small, that I want to jump the quad axel! I think I definitely can land it. Previously at Dream on Ice, I did it when I was nervous, and it lacked half a rotation. But when I saw the photo [of it], I got the axis right, so I thought “What should I do to jump it?” and I am studying on it a lot. Not just the axel, but all of them including the lutz, flip, loop, salchow, and toe loop. After that, I must persevere until I can do it on ice. But I wonder who will be able to jump the quad axel. I don’t think anyone can jump quintuples yet, but in the future maybe Boyang can do it. (laugh)
That’s why I think now is the hottest period for Men’s Figure Skating, isn’t it? For me, Salt Lake City was the best Olympics and it was the trigger that led me to have serious thoughts that “I want to skate!”, in a sense, that kind of era has come again, or that kind of flow has formed, and I am inside of it. I’m happy about it. Therefore, how I can evolve until Pyeongchang, I think that’s my challenge from now on. I’m looking forward to it.“
The happiness of being right in the middle of the currently fierce competitions that he’s been admiring ever since he was a child. The 21-year-old Yuzuru Hanyu, who can still improve his strengths, has come to an era where he can reflect his many life experiences in his programs more from now on.
He still has a long way to go. He still hasn’t reached the skate he’s been aiming for yet. Those thoughts, towards the height of expression that scores alone cannot measure, shall guide his steps.
[from Aoi Honoo 2 - Chapter 14]

Quote
Yuzuru is the supreme elite of figure skating. He skates at an unimaginable level, and I have no choice. I have only one thing to do, to try achieving the same results somehow. Many skaters actually fear him, coz he’s just so above everyone else. He jumps so organically, so naturally in a program that I question if it is reality, if it’s achievable. It is necessary to set goals, but I dont look forward to the pain I have to go through to reach Yuzu’s level. Masters like Yuzuru know what to do. He “kills” even before entering the ice; he already does it during the warm-up. We juniors look up to him and try to do the same, to try to put out the rivals before entering the rink during warm up, but we haven’t reach that level, and we’ll probably never will. Even Yuzu’s look may affect another skater, so usually we try not to face his eyes. Yuzuru Hanyu has so many records. Right now there is almost no competition for him, but when a rival appears, he won’t stop and wait, he will do something new because he is the highest level, and he will not give what belongs to him. I am still far from this company of world figure skating. He is incredible, he is superior. If figure skating is a video game where there are many levels, Yuzu would be cruising in the insane level.
Dmitri Aliev on his opinion of YH (EDIT: He was referring to all of the top men skaters, not specifically YH. Apologies for not clarifying; this was how I found the quote to be written on an Instagram post.)

This Gold medal is the result of betting not only my skate life and my past life but also all my future life. So, as I put so much into it, the happiness that all supporters feel makes me even happier. Their happiness become my happiness. All I can say is thank you.
