Q. What did Sung Hyunjae do in between being "implanted" and his awakening?

Since Crescent Moon had set it such that he would naturally assimilate into and harmonize with the world, so there were no particular problems. 

Before his awakening, he was mainly active overseas. Since he was quite well-known  In North America, he was quite well-known in various ways even before his awakening, which allowed him to exert influence abroad so quickly even though he registered as a Korean Hunter.

Before his awakening, he used an English-style pseudonym, and his appearance did not look  Korean, so not many people knew that Sung Hyunjae was Korean. This is why his popularity and recognition in Korea was relatively low, then.

Since the status window registers the name by which a person is primarily called, in an early revised chapter of the serialization, Sung Hyunjae's status window name was even registered in English. However, that detail was eventually removed with the thought that the popularity and recognition of a 3-year veteran S-class Hunter Sung Hyunjae would be higher. ^^

Note: I don't remember his English name being mentioned anywhere in the Q&A or the current version of the novel. Does anyone know what it is?

초승달이 사회에 자연스럽게 융화 될 수 있도록 처리 해 놓았기에 별다른 문제는 없었습니다. 각성 전까지는 주로 해외에서 활동하고 있었습니다. 북미 쪽에서는 각성 전부터도 여러모로 꽤 알려져 있었기에 한국 헌터로 등록했음에도 해외에 빠르게 영향력을 미칠 수 있었어요.

각성 전에는 영어식 가명을 사용했고 외모도 한국인 답지 않아 성현제가 한국인이라는 사실 자체를 아는 사람이 별로 없었습니다. 그래서 한국에서는 인지도가 낮은 편이었습니다.

상태창에는 그 사람이 주로 불리는 이름이 등록 되기에 연재 초 수정 된 편에서는 성현제의 상태창 이름이 영어로 등록되기도 했었습니다. 하지만 3년차 s급 헌터 성현제의 인지도가 더 높을 것이라는 생각에 그 설정은 사라졌습니다^^

Q. Did Sung Hyunje complete his military service?

Sung Hyunje began to fully establish himself and his activities after his mid-twenties, so he did not actually go to the military. However, because the Crescent Moon made it so that he was recognized as a model adult male in his country, Sung Hyunje and those around him perceive him as having completed his military service in his early twenties.

At the end of the novel, Sung Hyunje is now aware of the fact that he himself hasn't served in the military (in South Korea and in this life). But in his long existence, he would have been involved with and served in the military several times, so he thinks that can be considered as having completed his military requirement. He has no intention of revealing this to Han Yoojin, though.

It's similar to how Sigma has also already served in the military, hasn't he?

Moon Hyuna, reasoning that public perception is bad if an adult who hasn't completed their military service awakens, jokingly suggested to the Puppeteer that they should register Sigma as a minor. However, the suggestion was rejected. If Sigma were to gain Korean nationality as Sung Hyunje's relative, he would have to be under twenty years old when dungeons appeared, so it's highly likely he will be registered as being in his mid-twenties ^^

Note: This is regarding the mandatory military service / conscription in South Korea. Here's a good and interesting explanation from a South Korean guy from before his conscription time (he is currently serving as per follow-up posts).

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the second paragraph about Sigma. Figured out the first half regarding Hyuna's suggestion. Basically, given the way Korean public perception works, she's saying the public would be likely to have a negative opinion of someone if it seems they 'got away' without having to serve by postponing their service initially and then 'luckily' awakening before their extension ran out. Since awakening as a hunter makes you exempt from mandatory military service.

I'm still not completely sure about the Puppeteer's reason for rejection. Why would he 'have to be under twenty when dungeons appeared' to be registered as SHJ's relative?

현재 시점의 성현제는 자신이 군대에 가지 않았다는 사실을 자각하고 있지만 긴 생에서 여러 번 군에 몸을 담았을 것이기에 군필이라 생각합니다. 특히 한유진에게는 밝힐 마음이 없습니다. 시그마도 군대에 있었던 것과 비슷했죠.

덧붙여 시그마는 문현아가 각성 전 성인이 미필이면 인식이 나쁘다며 미성년자로 등록하자고 농담을 섞어 인형술사에게 권유했으나 거절당했습니다. 성현제의 친척으로 한국 국적을 가지게 된다면 던전이 나타났을 때 스무 살 이하여야 하기에 스물 중반으로 등록 될 가능성이 높습니다^^

Q. Do Hunters also go to the reserve forces or civil defense?

Since military service is replaced by dungeon raids, the same applies to reserve forces and civil defense. Hunters who have received national benefits like military exemption or tax exemption will be given a warning if they do not raid any dungeons or handle dungeon breaks for a certain period without a legitimate reason. If they still neglect their Hunter activities (even after a warning), they will be temporarily assigned to work at a national agency or relevant office for a certain period.

Sung Hyunjae was indeed tempted by that regulation* but there was no real reason to get caught even as he kept traveling overseas. However, if it's revealed after the epilogue that he was feigning illness and is actually fine, he will be dragged away. ^^

Even if Han Yoojin is known to be alive, he'll be fine because his main job is monster breeding, not dungeon raids, and he continues to exert influence over the Dodam Breeding Center. Han Yoohyun consistently participates in guild activities and has received permission for a temporary leave from raiding.

* My interpretation of this is that Sung Hyunjae was tempted by the idea of being caught and 'punished' because then he would likely get assigned to work at the Awakened Persons Bureau with Song Taewon. And get to bother him in person at all times in official capacity! But he refrained because Song Taewon was diligently following him overseas anyway, so not that much to be gained overall.

Q. 헌터들도 예비군이나 민방위에 가나요?

Q1. What if Han Yoohyun was the older brother and Han Yoojin the younger brother?

If Han Yoohyun was born first, the probability of a younger sibling being born would have been extremely low. The parents would not have been able to endure for long and would have either divorced quickly, or Han Yoohyun would have been abandoned. 

If Han Yoohyun had grown enough to have some level of awareness about society, his parents would have been murdered before they could abandon him. Han Yoohyun would have judged it to be more favorable to have parents who were murdered by robbers rather than being a simple orphan. Any peculiarities in a young child in this situation would be accepted and understood as being due to trauma, and if he were lucky, he might even be able to inherit and keep some of the property and wealth.

If Han Yoohyun was successfully abandoned before that could happen, Han Yoojin might have been born. But in that case he would grow up completely unaware of his older brother's existence. 

In the low probability* Han Yoohyun could murder his parents after Han Yoojin is born. In this case, Han Yoohyun would probably judge that having a newborn younger sibling is more advantageous for receiving protection from adults, so he wouldn't kill Han Yoojin.

Note: *My reading is that the low probability in this case either refers to the the probability that Han Yoojin is born without Yoohyun having been abandoned, or... the possibly that an abandoned Yoohyun might come back and murder the parents for the optics of being a little orphan with a newborn baby brother? Would love to hear opinions/inputs on this.

한유현이 첫째였다면 동생이 태어났을 가능성은 극히 낮았을 겁니다. 오래 버티지 못하고 이혼했거나 한유현이 버려졌겠지요. 한유현이 사회에 대해 어느 정도 인식한 시점이라면 한유현을 버리기 전에 부모가 살해당했을 겁니다. 한유현은 단순한 고아보다는 강도 살해 당한 부모를 두는 편이 더 유리하다고 판단했을 테니까요. 어린아이의 이상한 점이 충격으로 인한 것으로 받아들여지며 운이 좋다면 재산도 일부나마 가질 수 있겠지요.

Han Yoobin is a 'Source' who originally couldn't be born without swallowing the world, so he is greatly influenced by his nurturer, Han Yoojin.

Therefore, this will depend on how Han Yoojin separates Han Yoohyun and Han Yoobin. Han Yoojin recognized Han Yoobin as a different person, but it is impossible to completely erase the memories of 25-year-old Han Yoohyun.

If Han Yoojin is able to thoroughly separate them in his mind, Han Yoobin will not even remember his past life, and if he accidentally conflates the two, Han Yoobin will experience confusion in his self-identity.

There will inevitably be ups and downs, but if Han Yoojin is able to be steadfast and maintain a balance, then Han Yoobin will also be able to accept his past life smoothly^^

If he manages his health well and raises his stats, physical growth is also possible along with rank advancement. If Young Chaos stays by his side and teaches him directly, he could easily surpass 180cm within about a year.

If it's left to Han Yoojin's discretion and without any particular work, he will likely stay the same for 10 or 20 years, saying he's too busy just raising the kids.

Nevertheless, Han Yoohyun and Park Yerim will force him to take care of his body. Won't Irin, who wishes for Han Yoojin's lifespan to increase for Han Yoohyun's sake, attach herself as a surveillance team?

When Han Yoohyun turned back from fire to his human form, he became 198cm tall. This was influenced by Han Yoojin's usual thought that 2 meters was too tall and around 198cm would be just right. Indeed, his physique also became larger due to Han Yoojin's influence ^^

The S-ranks present there noticed the difference and more or less guessed that either Han Yoojin must have made him that way, or that Han Yoohyun must have adjusted himself to what his older brother wanted.

Han Yoojin hasn’t grown much despite his level increasing, due to overwork. If he manages his body well, he might be able to grow taller.

Park Yerim is rapidly approaching the mid-170s cm. Her growth rate is faster than Han Yoojin initially expected, so at this rate, she might even hit 180cm before entering high school.

Note: There was a good bit of confusion before I figured out YooYooYe was apparently a common shortform referring to the Yoojin, Yoohyun, Yerim combo, but now I want to use it everywhere. It's so cute?

Q. When the time comes for the guild leaders to hand their guilds over to others, what kind of lives will the former guild leaders lead?

In most worlds, S-classes are usually divided into two types. They either continue to grow, approaching otherworldly existences and aiming to become transcendent beings, or they stop at an appropriate level and remain human in their respective worlds.

In case of the former type, they break free from their world and become one of the Transcendents. However, at the current point in time / at the end of the novel, the circumstances surrounding the Source and the Transcendents have changed, so they no longer wander as they did in the past, and it's even possible to visit their original world with Yoo Myungwoo's support*.

As for the latter type, after retirement, they will end up leading lives that are significantly longer than average, but which still have an end. If they are combat-types, even if they are free, they will still enter dungeons from time-to-time to loosen up and stay sharp.

Han Yoohyun will, of course, stick to Han Yoojin's side, and Moon Hyun-ah will continue to seek out and keep doings things she can do herself.

Sung Hyunje is already out there**, and Bak Yerim also has a connection with the Mermaid Queen, so they are likely to fall into the former category. Noah and Riette too, have a high likelihood of trying to go out there together.

Song Tae-won... surely someday he will be able to rest, right? ^^ ***

*I feel like this implies that Yoo Myungwoo can help other Transcendants connect to their worlds too? Presumably by helping them connect to system generated dungeons of their own worlds similar to the various people-populated dungeons pre-regression world based dungeons we saw for our Earth? Wow, that makes him about as (or more) valuable and awe-worthy in the transcendant community as his item-making abilities made him on Earth.

*** I'm not sure if this is implying that Song Taewon will be in the latter category of not becoming a Transcendent because he just wants to rest dammit, or if it's being faux sympathetic with him in that sure he wants to rest, but if everyone he sees as his responsibility becomes a Transcendent there is no way he won't follow after them to keep them in check, so that possibility of future rest will remain perpetually elusive.

It would be similar to if you take Sigma, put in about one-hundredth of Sung Hyunje's knowledge and experience, add a few spoonfuls of early Crescent Moon, and then rewind him back to a time before he experienced a desperate and hopeless situation that one could no nothing about regardless of hard work or effort.

His ego was still firm, but he was more gentle and innocent* than at the current point in time ^^

Note: So this one gave me some trouble, because I was getting interesting variations from different translators, and when breaking the sentence, so I went full analysis mode on this.

*순하다 is the word getting translated as "gentle and innocent", but some more explanation on that is as follows:

As per the Korean-English dictionary, 순하다 when referring to someone's personality means meek; mild; docile; gentle. Examples: Both brothers have gentle personalities, so they have never fought with each other; The child is so gentle and doesn't even care about strangers; The baby doesn't cry or whine easily, and he's quite gentle

AI language module broke it down as follows: A "순하다" (sunhada) personality in Korean describes someone who is mild, gentle, docile, and not aggressive or fussy. Here's a breakdown of what it typically implies:

Q1. Will The Puppeteer's new name remain a secret going forward? Will Winged!Yoojin-ie also get a new name?

While it's partly about concealing their true name as a Transcendent, the Puppeteer also doesn't want to share their name with others.

Since Winged!Yoojin calls himself "Yoojin", Young Chaos will worry, and Sung Hyunje will say that he should be given a new name, citing Han Gyeol's example. But he will remain as he is for a while. ^^

Spoiler Note About Side/After Stories: Both items are kind of incorrect as of latest canon. We find out The Puppeteer's name (Han Sihyun) and Winged!Yoojin also gets an alternate nickname (Yeon) even if his "proper" name remains Yoojin but with a different family/clan name from Young Chaos (Yeonri Yoojin, or Yoojin of the Yeonri clan)

The context and the conversation: Yoojin gets an opportunity to use the system to try and see/interact with the transcendents in the past and is using it to meet and talk to young Crescent Moon to try and figure out how to possibly break the contract between her and Sung Hyunjae. First he meets Crescent Moon before she has found SHJ, but in 677 he meets CM with a 'sleeping' SHJ who is between lives right at that moment. The final thing that Crescent Moon says to Yoojin is censored by the System and is rendered as [너는 □□□ 사랑□ □□□□□.] in korean, which MTL gives as [You □□□ love□ □□□□□.].

(personally, i would love to know the theories for this. im sure there was matching of character numbers etc going on a-plenty in the korean fandom)

While he sometimes acts mischievously*, he usually cooks according to the tastes of those he's cooking for, namely Han Yoojin and Song Taewon.

When he cooks for himself, he follows the model / exemplary standards of each recipe. However, since he's tired of food itself, if there's no one around to look after him, he often just cuts and eats bread or something similar, just enough to get by.

So, while he's staying in Korea, it's usually based on Korean standards ^^

Note: The word "심술을" used here is usually getting translated as "grumpy" but apparently also means "having a strong wish to harass someone", so in context I think mischievously fits better.

The possibility of Han Yoojin becoming a transcendent isn't something that he can achieve through his own power. To be precise, it's because he's the nurturer of transcendent-level beings, including Han Gyeol and Han Yoobin.

In case of good parent-child relationships, children usually wish for their parents to live long and healthy lives. The problem is that Han Yoojin's children can go beyond just wishing and make those wishes a reality. Han Gyeol can actually make fantasies come true, and Han Yoobin is a Source that can easily grant immortality to someone, or turn them into a transcendent. As the two grow up and Han Yoojin ages, the children will naturally want their dad to continue living with them.

So, since Han Yoojin decided to raise Han Gyeol, and especially Han Yoobin, the issue of lifespan is bound to come up eventually. In addition to these two, there are many others around Han Yoojin who will grow into beings capable of easily extending his lifespan. So it won't be easy for Han Yoojin to maintain his own will in that situation.

Han Yoojin will have to pick a side or find another solution.

If one decides to raise children who are completely different from them, they'll continue to clash with them in the future and keep trying to understand each other and resolve these conflicts and differences, even beyond the matter of lifespan. Still, there might be areas where one absolutely cannot back down.

As I wrote before, if there is a side story, it will be mentioned, but it will likely not be explained in detail since it's a matter of the distant future. Han Yoojin can live as long as he wants, but conversely, living a normal and ordinary life will be difficult. It's a problem he needs to contemplate and prepare for starting now, while his children are still young.

However, in the end, he will not be unconditionally dragged along simply being led by what the precious people around him want, but will be able to look back at himself and make decisions according to his own will. ^^

사이가 좋은 부모자식간의 경우 자식은 보통 부모가 건강하게 오래오래 살아가기를 바랍니다. 문제는 한유진의 아이들은 바람을 넘어 실현이 가능하다는 것입니다. 한결은 환상을 실제로 만들 수 있으며 한유빈은 사람 하나쯤 불로불사는 물론이고 초월자로 만드는 것도 쉬운 근원이죠. 둘이 성장을 하고 한유진이 나이를 먹어 가면 아이들은 자연스럽게 아빠가 계속 함께 살아가길 원하게 될 겁니다.

그러니 한유진이 한결을, 특히 한유빈을 키우기로 한 이상 수명의 문제는 언젠가는 생겨나게 될 수밖에 없습니다. 이 둘 외에도 한유진의 주위에는 수명 정도는 쉽게 늘릴 수 있는 존재로 성장하게 될 이들이 많기에 한유진이 그 속에서 자기 자신의 의지를 지키기란 쉽지 않겠지요.

한유진은 어느 한쪽을 선택하거나 또 다른 방법을 찾아내야 할 겁니다.
