MOBILE, Ala. – On July 21, 2023, Agolia Moore was already in bed when the chaplain at the Limestone Correctional Facility in Harvest called to inform her that her youngest son, Kelvin Moore, had died from a fentanyl overdose. He was 43.
Agolia Moore was devastated by the news. She had spoken with her son that evening and couldn’t believe he died just 90 minutes after they’d gotten off the phone. Then, the chaplain asked her a question that made her even more suspicious about her son’s death.
“He said, ‘Who’s over him?’ ” Agolia Moore, 82, said when I met with her in Mobile. “I said, ‘I am. I’m his mother.’ I said, ‘He has no wife. No kids. I am over him.’ ”
Six days later, Moore’s body was delivered to his hometown, which is about 350 miles from the prison. Because he died while in custody, Moore’s body was first sent to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, which conducts autopsies for the Alabama Department of Corrections.
But when Moore’s remains arrived in Mobile, the family’s mortician discovered that someone had taken out most of his internal organs.
@chrisdornerfanclub prisons are dealing inmate organs now, again
“It’s a systematic abuse situation,” Faraino said. “UAB has been taking the organs of incarcerated people without family consent for years now, and we have a handful of families that have come forward who discovered that their loved ones were returned without their organs.

I've recently decided to paint a dodo, because why not? It is a very weird animal and a grim reminder of human encroachment.
However, there is one teeny detail of the dodo that is driving me nuts.

it goes against so much of what i stand for to share "palestinians are humans, they have hobbies, they have pets, they laugh and cry" kind of posts because i've spent so much of my life and career completely rejecting the notion that we should humanize ourselves, that we should ever be defensive, that we should entertain this racism at all
but it breaks my heart when i have to share them from people in gaza, who are using their five minutes of internet connection, their 25% of battery charge collected from a macguyvered car battery, emotionally exhausted, thirsty and hungry, sleeping in schools that have turned into refugee shelters and still making the time to say "please, i am human too, i am still alive, please fight for me" in english to appeal to the only people who have the power to help
i shared a tweet from a jjk artist in gaza i follow about a bts photocard being found in the middle of the rubble. even the love of anime and kpop and sports is no longer just a hobby, but an appeal to humanity. what was once a source of joy is now proof of life.
the worst part is that you won't find this content in arabic. palestinians don't post like this in arabic. but when they translate themselves, they recognize that they must humanize themselves first. it's an unspoken understanding of dehumanization, one that has dictated a whole region's understanding of the value of human life. in arabic they speak with dignity, with anger, with sorrow. in english, they appeal for their existence.
i share these posts not just because we have to reach everyone we can, because im being asked to and i will not refuse. but i also share them because they're evidence of how deep the racism has run. at what dehumanization leads to. of war crime after war crime. this too i will not forget.

I NEED TO MAKE AT LEAST 500 DOLLARS IN 2 MONTHS OR I DONT KNOW HOW ILL SURVIVE MOVING OUT.
im delilah and im an openly queer plural tgirl living in a shitty homophobic place in texas, and im going to be kicked out on june 1, 2024.
that means if you see this post before june 1, 2024, there is still time to help me. please.
hey yall. this is probably gonna be one of the last posts about this, since im running out of time. because of @punkitt-is-here's super awesome kind reblog, i managed to make about 500 dollars, bringing me up to 1500, but after that things have slowed down to nearly nothing again. thank you to everyone that has donated, i appreciate it more than you could know, and thank you to the handful of famous people who reblogged and gave me a shitload of exposure.
im not sure if making 500 dollars in the next 2 months is going to be like.. possible. and after all the research ive been doing, im honestly not completely confident that 2000 dollars is going to be enough. im hoping that ill be able to pay for a few months of rent at once, so that im more likely to be able to get a place without already having a job in abq. so right now, my goal is basically "crowdfund as much as i possibly can so i dont have to live on the streets"
im hoping for a miracle right now. maybe, under the right circumstances, that could be you. maybe you just got paid and you dont have anything to use the paycheck on, maybe you have a bunch of savings that you could spare a portion of, i dont know, but god, i could really use as much kindness as i can find right now.
thank you to all the people who have helped already, i appreciate it more than you could know, and im hoping it helps me survive.
