girlyosuke would be a “one of the guys” girl. the kind of girl you see in like a late 2000s early 2010s teen movie, a “not like other girls” girl who is like other girls but likes Car and Video Game and Other Girls. the quirky lowkey bi best friend to the protagonist in a kids sitcom who’s treated like shit by the narrative for being like slightly tomboyish and therefore unforgivably outside the realm of male desire. that’s the space girlyosuke would operate in i think. i think that’s the closest analogue for the boybestie “emasculated by the protagonist but it’s cool because they’re friends” type role yosuke occupies, inasmuch as there can be an analogue at all

see yosuke has the idea of women (as inherently equal to “girlfriend”) so built up in his head that he idealizes them to the point of denying personhood (people and girls being separate things), and that’s fundamentally a misogyny thing, but it’s also a larger yosuke paradigm thing i think. cause without the work to dismantle that i can’t imagine any romantic relationship with yu (or any other theoretical guy for that matter) not being idealization to the point of denying personhood but gay, to at least some extent. yosuke loves roles and simplistic categorizations and dismissing that which falls outside pre-drawn boundaries. once he has a view of what something is or should be, that is what it is and has to be. women are desirable and normal to want. yu is infallible. saki is kind. etc etc. also man the saki and yu parallels drive me nuts yosuke will really hitch like 80% of himself to whoever will perform the miracle of tolerating him

if the events of persona 4 didn’t happen, if you gave him ten years i think yosuke could’ve become the kind of guy to do fight club. yu is literally his tyler. the degree to which it maps is insane.

(sorry to have to explain the bit but since this is literally just my hc - i tend to assume junpei's father smokes heavily in addition to his drinking problem, and now that he's out in the dorms, junpei finds himself slightly annoyed by the smell of cigarette smoke.)
