Week 13: ‘Future strategies’
Throughout this semester I have learnt the strategies that I need to implement throughout my studies. The main skill I need develop on is time management and keeping motivate throughout the whole semester. At the start of semester, I felt more motivated then towards the end of the semester. If I can manage and complete my assignments over a longer period then the week before the assignment is due, I believe I will stay motivated for longer, as the workload won’t feel as heavy throughout the semester. While have poor management skills, I believe I have still been successful with the little amount of time I have allocated to my studies. If I can better and evenly spread out my time and assignments in the future, I believe I will be able to achieve better results with my further studies. I believe I have learnt a lot of new and important skills within this semester though, as I have only been somewhat successful, and I believe I can be more successful in future and learn more skills throughout my futures studies.

Week 11: ‘Managing assessments’
I believe overall I have been somewhat successful with managing my assignments; however, I still have a few areas to improve in. Firstly, I believe I need to improve my time management skills and better plan out my assignment schedule, this would help me in being able to gain feedback on my assignments which would result in better grades. Secondly, I need to improve my quality of work by not leaving assignments to the last week, and instead working on assignments in small sessions rather than all at once, which would provide me more time to complete my assignments to a better standard. With future assignments throughout the semester, I need to make sure to implement these strategies to create better quality of work and ultimately get better grades. I feel like a have been successful with previous assignments even though I haven’t been able to manage some assignments to the best of my ability.

Week 9: ‘Understanding and utilising feedback”
Feedback can be a great help in improving and understanding my work that I have completed. However, I believe I could use feedback more often to help with my work, as I have only submitted a draft for 2 of my assignments so far. If I better managed my time, I believe I would have been able to seek out more feedback from peers and teachers, would greatly help improve my quality of work, resulting in better results. Utilising feed back in the future will help me achieve better results in future assignments but will need to continue to develop my time management skills to achieve this. I believe I have responded well to the little feedback I received so far, I made sure to implement all the changes and feedback that was provided to me to improve my results for the assignments.

Week 7: ‘Self-management: motivation and resilience’
While considering this course I knew self-management and more specifically time-management would be an important skill to learn. Within this first semester I have found it quite difficult to manage my time, which has resulted in results that I am not necessarily happy with. I strategy I tried to implement was using a daily schedule to manage and plan out my days, but I did not stick to this schedule for very long. I believe I often bought work and my social before my studies, to be successful in the future I believe I need to better stick to a schedule and plan my time out, which will lead to a more balanced, work, study, life, which will result in more successful results. Also, it has been a quite full on few months for me as I have moved states and started a new job as well as my studies. I believe that I am now settled into my new lifestyle I should be able to balance my studies and general life more evenly. As I better develop my time management skills, I believe I will be able to improve my results in my assignments, has what I have struggled with most in my assignments is time.

Week 5: “Teamwork”
The group presentation had many benefits and difficulties throughout the process. As you know my role in the group was to research into market feasibility in Tasmania and how other small teams have been successful in franchising them selves and how it compares to Tasmania. Whilst working on this I was able to ask my group mates about any questions or queries that I had. This was extremely beneficial in the overall completion of the presentation because we were able to work together to make sure we all did well and completed our parts. However, one of the group members did leave his part of the assignment until 12:30 the night before we were due to present. This put the whole group at risk of not completing the assignment. Although they did finish it in the end it was unfair to the rest of us because we would have been under more pressure to present our own parts as well as help him finish his as well. Another group member on the other hand was extremely organized and took the lead when it came to delegating parts and making sure we all finished. This made it easy for us to all understand what we were responsible for. It was important to have someone step up and be a leader within our team, according to Keith Davis, “Leadership is the ability to persuade others to seek defined objectives enthusiastically. It is the human factor which binds a group together and motivates it towards goals.”

Week 2: ‘Starting out’
In the first week of classes, we discussed and went through the course outline and the assessments for each of my classes. This was important to know as it would help keep be organized and on top of the workload. Throughout my studies this year I intend to be more prepared and organized than I have been in my previous years of study. In my previous studies I didn’t receive the grade I wanted to achieve, I believe this was because I wasn’t organized and correctly prepared for the workload. To improve my originations skills, I have set up reminders and schedules for all my assignments. This will hopefully help me keep on top of my workload. I learnt how to create the assignment schedule trough class. This schedule lets me know when my assignments are due for all my classes. Being more organized throughout my studies will help achieve the grades that I want and help me be successful this year.
