What is the album about? WHAT AM I? is the first mini album by JYP soloist Jang Sang-woo. The mini album was released on the 20th of July 2019 after working on it for almost 10 months, and has a total of 7 songs and rounds up to around 24 minutes and 5 seconds listening time.

The album is about Sang-woo being portrayed as a monster, it starts off with Sacrifice (eat me up) as he's so deperatly trying to get someone to fix him (in other words k1ll him) but it doesn't work . He tries all these things to fix himself or get rid of himself but nothing ends up working and he remains the same, hense 'Still monster' being the closing song as he realises he can't fix himself and he will always be a "monster"

It's called WHAT AM I? because he doesn't know what he is or who he is. Kind of like an identity crisis almost. There will be more on it as i'm still finishing up on the lore!!

　　　　　she became worse because of them.

　　　one afternoon Aveline went to their usual spot. one of them was on the phone so she stayed quiet as she walked.

　　　the three other guys huddled around one of them, their backs turned against her. “no, we’re not doing this anymore. the angels aren’t planning anything!” he said, frustrated.

　　　“give me the phone.” another grabbed it, almost cracking the screen, his tone barely controlled. “enough. we’re not taking any more orders. call the operation off. there’s not going to be any war.”

　　　 operation? war? Aveline's steps faltered.

　　　no. no. no. they were here for . . . information? Aveline’s mind went back to all their meetings. the sudden disappearances. the hesitation in their excuses. they were damn good liars, but she always knew something was off.

　　　 they went down then, to the seven circles she assumed. as the rage inside her bubbled, she didn't seem to remember the prophecy she was enacting.

　　　 she wouldn't confront them. oh, no. she would plan something else. to make sure it hurt. for them to come up here and take advantage of her kindness? in return spy and try to start a war? the images of dead angels flickered in her head, and by the gods, her anger was shining.

　　　 it didn't matter that they tried to call it off. no. they still lied to her. but then again, she was stupid. they were demons after all. whatever she thought they had wasn't love. it was all deceit. a false reality.

　　　 she stood there, frozen, reeling. she couldn't believe she trusted them. Aveline didn't know how long she stayed there, but she blinked and they were back, smiling. as if they weren't just planning to start a war on her people. they didn't question how long she'd been there. even if they did, she would've lied.

　　　"we want to be better for you," one of them said carefully, breaking the silence when she didn't speak. Aveline forced a frown. act. besides, how could they be better for her if she couldn't trust them?

　　　"if you think I want you to change for me then clearly I've been sending the wrong message." the guys laughed at her, but said nothing more of the topic.

　　　they went down then, promising her they'd be back. and so, she waited, again. Aveline didn't know what they were doing, and maybe she didn't want to know.

　　　from the depths of hell her lovers' black feathered wings with specks of gold became white instead. their shame faded, and so did their scars.

　　　even though she never cared that they were demons, they transformed for her. they became her knights, looking as sinful as where they came from. none of it mattered, though. she couldn't bring herself to love them when she knew the truth.

　　　tears of disbelief, frustration, and heartbreak fell from her eyes then as she clenched her hands. her demons—well angels now—looked at her confused. she wasn't celebrating like how they thought she would.

　　　her gaze was dripping with rage. so much so, demons below, angels around, and the old gods noticed the shift in the dimension.

　　　Aveline didn't know what to do. what to say. she said she would plan, but seeing them in their new forms, she couldn't stand it. they just looked so . . . innocent. so, she did the next best thing when you find out that the people who cared about lied to you.

　　　she ran. away from demons. away from angels. away from the shining sun.

　　　the demons on the other hand tried to chase her. of course, they did. but then they realized she didn't want to see them. at all. they took the hint, but they'd be lying if they'd say they didn't get hurt.

　　　when Aveline fled, she already knew what she wanted to do as an act of revenge. it took her a couple minutes to get to the other side of the realm, her wings flapping as fast as they could. she rubbed her angel mark, missing what she's about to lose.

　　　once she got to the edge of the realm, she looked beneath the clouds, recollecting her thoughts. Asylum was all she knew, but she couldn't stay here. not when they'd haunt her at every corner. as if they hadn't already haunted her mind and soul. even then, she also knew she couldn't stay because her anger was too raw. too deep. no angel should be feeling these negative strong emotions. not to mention her thoughts of revenge. no, she didn't deserve to be an angel anymore.

　　　she took a breath. a moment passed. then another. as she turned to look at the realm she loved, more tears streamed down her face before muttering a soft goodbye.

　　　despite still being an angel, she already accepted her fate. she allowed herself to feel that rage. she let the betrayal sink deep into her bones. Aveline promised to herself then, she'd become their opposite, the very thing they just were. the thing angels were sworn enemies with.

　　　stepping off Asylum, she flew down slowly, on her own volition. her white angelic wings became black eagerly, her halo gone. in it's place, horns grew.

　　　she became a demon with ill intent, an angel no longer.

　　　no one knew what happened between the lovers then, but they knew one thing;

　　　the prophecy was confirmed.

　　　they became the impossible.

　　　and so did she.

CAPTAIN CHRISTOPHER CHAHN BAHNG

— "Rules? Just don’t betray the crew and we’re good."

Captain Bang Chan leads his crew with a rare mix of heart and mind. Known for always putting his crew first, Chan’s ship feels more like a found family than a band of rogues. He might not follow the rules of the sea, but he never breaks his word.

FIRST MATE ME

— "Never in my 200 years as a pirate have I..."

If the Captain is the heart of the crew, she’s the sharp edge. Always one step ahead, the First Mate is the one who keeps things running when the captain’s caught up in chaos. Known for her quick wit, quicker reflexes, and a gaze that could cut through fog.

QUARTERMASTER SEO CHANGBIN

— "If one more person hides snacks in the cannon hold…"

He’s the one holding the whole ship together behind the scenes. As Quartermaster, he manages the loot, keeps track of supplies, and lays down the law when the captain’s not around. He may not wear the crown, but he makes sure it doesn’t get stolen.

GUNNER YANG JEONGIN

— "Don’t talk to me while I’m in blow-up mode."

Don’t let the sweet smile fool you, Jeongin might be the youngest on the ship, but he’s the most unpredictable and ruthless firepower. As Gunner, he’s in charge of the cannons, and no one handles explosions with more joy.

NAVIGATOR LEE FELIX

— "Trust me, I know where we’re going. Just follow my lead."

Felix is the crew’s steady hand on the helm when it comes to charting the ship’s path through treacherous waters. With a sharp mind and a cool confidence, he reads the tides, and even the crew’s moods with an uncanny ease. No storm can throw him off course.

BOATSWAIN KIM SEUNGMIN

— "If one more person knots a rope wrong, I’m walking off this ship. Mid-sea."

If the ship runs smoothly, it’s not luck, it’s Seungmin. As Boatswain, he oversees the sails, ropes, repairs, and the deck crew. It’s Seungmin who makes sure they’re followed correctly. Sharp-eyed and sharper-tongued he’s the first to spot a loose knot or a cracked board.

COOK/MEDIC LEE MINHO

— "The stew’s hot. Like me. Don’t burn yourself."

Lee Know isn’t your average ship’s cook or medic — he’s sharper than his knives and colder than the ice he presses against bruises, but secretly has a soft stop for his crew mates. He runs his galley like a warship and his infirmary like a courtroom: efficient and no-nonsense.

RIGGER/CLIMBER HWANG HYUNJIN

— "I don’t fall, I land dramatically."

No one moves like Hyunjin. He’s the wind in the sails, the shadow on the ropes, the blur you see out of the corner of your eye before he vanishes into the clouds. As the ship’s Rigger and Climber, Hyunjin is responsible for the sails, the ropes, and anything that requires agility and speed.

MUSICIAN HAN JISUNG

— "Want me to write a track about the captain? Just kidding. Unless...?"

As the crew’s Musician and Morale Officer, Han is the soundtrack of the ship, whether it’s a roaring sea shanty in the middle of a storm, a lullaby when tensions run high, or a chaotic impromptu rap about how someone fell off the mast (again). He’s the one who lightens the mood.
