BIOGRAPHY
π–‘π–Žπ–›π–Š π–†π–“π–”π–™π–π–Šπ–— π–‰π–†π–ž island born and mountain raised, aadrik isla knew how to start a fire before learning how to start a kindle reader. feet in the dirt and sun warming his shoulder was where he felt the most himself. he was raised by the stereotypical outdoorsy couple so he didn’t have a choice when it came to his hobby. camping trips around the world. in fact, all three of them lived in a self-converted van until aadrik was ten. that’s when they decided that he needed some stability and to spend time with people his own age. so they moved back to their hometown, jarabacoa, dominican republic in another self-built tiny home. only this one was stationary and on a mountain top. the stillness of jarabacoa came as a shock to the nomadic child. he felt a bit out of place in the structure of the school system, though academically he did well. but having to ask for permission to speak, stand, or even go to the bathroom was stifling. he begged his parents to continue to homeschool him, but they knew it was important for him to socialized. so they offered that if he could find 20 hours a week of face-to-face interaction, they would let him go back to being homeschooled. this is how he found rock climbing. he found a climbing group and spent every day possible at their favorite crag. π–ˆπ–‘π–Žπ–’π–‡ 𝖆 π–‘π–Žπ–™π–™π–‘π–Š π–π–Žπ–Œπ–π–Šπ–— during his last three years of school, the calloused fingered teen worked part-time at a family friend’s woodshop. surprisingly to no one, aadrik took like a duck to water when it came to woodworking. this job helped him not only learn how to convert his own van, but pay for it. as soon as he graduated, aadrik shipped his van to europe and began his first solo adventures. he spent years travelling and using his carpentry as a means to fund him to the next location. as much as he loved travelling with his parents, the chalk-covered man was elated to be alone. he thrived in solitude. no one to interrupt his thoughts or pester him about what current book he was reading. the only collection bigger than his worn out climbing shoes was that of his books. he could have sworn that they were the root cause for the van’s horrible gas mileage but he couldn’t get himself to part with them. π–†π–˜π–π–Šπ–˜ π–Žπ–“ π–žπ–”π–šπ–— π–π–†π–“π–‰π–˜ next on his endless adventure list was to sit still for a bit so he could save some money for his future dream home back on his beloved island. which is what led him to eldstead, wa. he had heard from a friend that it was the perfect quaint little town. and it’s plethora of rare bookstores was quite enticing. aadrik loved eldstead until the storms. out of all the awe-inspiring things he has witnessed, nothing compared to the ones that came after the storm. it was a mixture sensations like the wonderstruck he got when he first saw the northern lights and the consternation he felt walking along the aonach eagach ridge. but unlike those natural wonders, this wasn’t part of the earth. now he feels like it’s up to him to help protect the town he has come to call home.
