Since we’ve got TMNT on the brain let’s throwback to this cover I did for IDW. This was the first thing I ever did for the TMNT on any official capacity. I remember the editor told me to just do something classic. I had been reading the IDW series and was loving and also felt like this might be my only chance to draw the turtles so I threw everything in there! In retrospect I would have done something a little more classic now, but luckily this wasn’t my last chance to draw the turtles. I still like this cover quite a bit, shredders arm is to long but otherwise it’s got some nice things going for it. My favorite Wolfmen. A few years ago I actually did a drawing a day for inktober. All horror characters. Here the wolfmen I did. For these inktober drawings it was sort of the first time I had successfully merged charcoal and ink. I really love the effect and I’ve used it a lot since. At times to great success and other times a sloppy mess haha. It can save some major time to give a nice background effect in a commission! My dog Bandit passed last week after 15 great years. He was my best bud, I he lied right behind my art chair for everything I’ve drawn for the last 15 years. Also some of you might know I loved to sneak him into almost everything I did. This piece was the first time Bandit saw print which is funny because it’s also the first time I saw print. Funny. Futurama color commission from a few years ago. I get a lot of commissions for things I really love and I always take it as an opportunity to really give back to the thing that inspired me so much.
