This game is called “Manipulation:Control the Robot” which is a game that can make children from fourth to sixth grade interested in computer programming. Children will learn to put orders in the control panel to follow robot’s requests. In the game, the Robot will say what he wants and what players need to do is find the correct sequence of programming language to make the robot moves. For example, in the trail level, the Robot will say, “I want the battery which is one step to the left of me to charge”. Following the instruction, players can put orders under the panel to make it move and click on the play button to watch if he did it right. This utilizes James Gee’s principle of “empowered learners” and “problem-based learning” because children will play as the “master” of the Robot and give him order which may make children feel like to be a programmer and the problem given by Robot can help them think about how to do it. As more and more level unlocked, more and more orders will unlock which will make the game more hard and competitive. Moreover, there is a “Freestyle Zone” in which players can create movement on their own and share it with friends which is very creative and helpful for them to think.

EDUC 104E Media Lesson Plan Template 2019
Student name: Linfeng Xu
Group name/table number: 5
Target grade level: Second
Brief narrative introduction: Education pay more and more attention to diversity nowadays which requires both students and teachers need to accept all people, regardless of their race, culture, or religion. It is important to educate young children to know that to reduce discrimination in school.
Goal setting: What is your overall Big Picture? What are your unit goals? What is the ultimate outcome you’d like to see happen from your unit? Think BIG.
The BIG picture of this lesson is to help students understand why diversity is important and why do we need diversity from a very young age. They will learn the differences of outlook does not change anything inside. Students will learn by reading books and draw pictures about culture, religion, race and gender of themselves and present in their groups in order to better understand the topic and know better about others’ religion and culture.
I. Standards and Objectives
Part 1: Academic Content Standard
(Copy one that is the focus of this lesson, one is usually sufficient, copy this exactly on/from the California State Standards in Visual Arts or National Core Arts website
3.0 HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT
Part 2: Overall Project Goal and Your individual Objective(s)
What do you plan on accomplishing with this lesson? What concepts, ideas, or theories will you teach? Remember, these should relate to the Big Picture (above). Set at least 3 objectives for your lesson. Some words you may want to use: enhance, expand, continue, address, build, foster, develop, increase, identify, demonstrate, etc.
By the end of this lesson students will be able to identify the importance of diversity in school. The lesson will enhance their ability to recognize different cultures, races and religions. Students will learn to respect people which they thought is “different” from them. They will be able to demonstrate other cultures, races and same as religion.
Part 3: How does your lesson support the concepts of the Common Core Standards (hands-on learning)?
Children will need to read the book called The Colors of Us which is a book about a seven year olds girl Lena, from her point of view to see the difference of races. It will help them understand the topic from a girl in their own age. Students also need to do painting about themselves and present in class. During the process, they will think deeper about themselves and know other better.
II. Assessment:
How will you know you have accomplished your lesson goals? In what ways will
the participants be able to show evidence of their understanding of what you’ve taught them?
Children need to do painting in class and present it with other group members. They also need to briefly write down others’ words while others are presenting. After class, by collecting the painting and notes, teachers can give them feedback about what they may be confused with and give them feedback.
Likely misunderstandings:
Think ahead. Where do you suppose the participants might have a difficult time understanding concepts you are teaching?
Children in the second age may not think that far about diversity which may cause them do not know how to draw the painting. The book will greatly help them to understand it and what teachers need to do is answer individuals’ questions while they facing problems.
III. Sequence of Instruction:
Activities: What activities will you do with the participants? Be sure to give the amount of time planned for each, and order them in sequence they will need to be presented. Activities should lead the participants to meet your learning objectives and should support the VPA State Standards. If an activity requires a step-by-step process that you feel should be explained in detail, please provide a separate sheet with those directions.
10 mins: I will read one or two chapters of the book The Colors of Us with students and answer questions about the book.
5 mins: Students think about what their family’s culture and religions.
5 mins: Assign them to draw a picture about what they think themselves are(culture, race and religion) and answer students’ questions.

Our group’s poster is about e-cigarette. We decide to make this poster because more and more people are choosing to use e-cigarettes to replace cigarette because the advertisements of e-cigarettes “LOVE YOUR LUNG” make them believe that using e-cigarettes can help their lungs and at the same time enjoy smoking. But what turns out is that researchers found out that e-cigarette users were at a 56% greater risk for having a heart attack and were 30% more likely to suffer a stroke. It means that smoking is not good for health even though it is using electronic item. Last month, there was also news that a person died because of using e-cigarettes.
In our poster, we drew a big human body with a broken heart and lung. There is also a tear on his face which represents he is having some problems. Near him is a huge e-cigarettes and the sign of it “LOVE YOUR LUNG” which is irony. On the top of the poster, there is the research words to help explain the poster. Our theme is “Love your lung, break your heart”

I am an international from Yangzhou, China. Yangzhou is an ancient city which has more than 2500 years history. In the past, it was seen as one of the richest place because of the water transportation system. Slender West Lake as shown in picture 1 is a remarkable place in Yangzhou. It was named by a poet in Hangzhou. After visiting this lake, he compares with West Lake in Hangzhou and said this Lake is more slender and beautiful, so named it as Slender West Lake. It is beautiful in spring when all flowers blooms. In China, we have freedom of religion but it doesn’t mean we don’t have religion. For me, the religion is family. My sister is 15 years younger than me. She studies more hard than me which make her wear glasses in 1st grade. My parents believe that “Spare the rod spoil the child.” When I was in high school, I was very nervous about my grade because of fear. I can’t say this way of education is useless because it is somehow push me further. I choose education as one of my major because I want to find out the best way to educate child.
