Okay so.

THAT looks like a human.

Why. Why did the Titan, for just a moment, look like a human.

But not a just human. That’s not like Kris (who may not be a human if you subscribe to vessel theory, but we can probably expect that they look like a human - a deltarunian human).

That looks like a 3 dimensional ‘real’ human. Like Us.

We are the SOUL within Kris. At least, the SOUL is our most direct connection to this world. It is called a “Human SOUL”.

For a while this worried me. Because humans exist in Deltarune, even if Kris isn’t one. And if humans exist, and Human SOULs exist. Than can the SOUL really be a pure representation of us? I mean we are human, but how can we be human from the perspective of a world that expects a human to be like Kris?

Between the gonermaker sequence and the weird descriptions, I don’t think this was originally Kris’s soul. So what we inhabit, was it originally someone else’s SOUL? Another humans? A secret protagonist? Third entity theory real but it is the SOUL. I hope not, though I can’t entirely discount it.

But the other possibility. Is that the world of Deltarune has multiple meanings for the word “human”.

Basically? Biblically accurate humans are a thing.

By far the two strongest possibilities for who the angel is, is Noelle… and Us. And in following Undertale, it could very well be both. A pretty simple solution being in at least one of the timelines Noelle is our avatar.

Still, here. The black screen (which could hold our reflection), Susie’s trepidation. What could frighten her so in only an image. She was pretty frightened when fighting the titan, which is probably for a number of reasons. However I wonder what she thought of its visage.

The SOUL, the human SOUL. It has strange powers. Able to shine on different party members to strengthen them. Light up the darkness. Unleash light. Banish dark. Close fountains. Purify. Defeat Titans. And this seems to be a strange assortment of powers to give to a human - it makes more sense in the lens of device theory, where we exist on a layer (or 2) above the light world. So we are a more pure form of ���light.”

However, instead of imagining nested realities, for a moment let us imagine a line. Between the light world and the dark. The Titans are what is darker than dark worlds. We are what are lighter than light worlds.

The dark world is reflection of the light world across that line.

The Titans are a reflection of Us.

How we the player factor into this is still yet to come, but its looking more and more like Kris is our goner we made at the start, its just that maybe somthin went fucky wucky and our vessel went and got all independent on us

Deltarune chapter 4 spoilers

In my favorite sequence so far (the vent scene). There are a couple of things I haven’t seen anyone talk about. (Not the weird route version)

1) If/when you get caught by Kris in kitchen Once you get back to the kitchen if you wait long enough they’ll play piano!

2) When they are trying to hit you with a hockey stick, you can stay up in a corner and wait out Noelle and Susie’s dialogue, and Kris will physically react to what they are saying. They’ll actually blush when Susie says they are weirdly good at flirting. It’s unreal to watch how easily they are distracted.

3) When I waited out all the dialogue this way, at the end after a smacking me a few times, Kris just leans over and stops? I’m not sure if this is intentional. But given that their HP has lowered once they put you back in, it does seem to be that being without their soul drains them, and they might have tired out?

just because I haven’t seen anyone else mention this.

The sound clip for the for the rock and roll cat is identical to the sound clip that plays when Susie eats the CD bagel.

While the sound clip for the Angel cat (not super holy angel cat) is the same as the sound clip that plays when Ralsei eats the CD bagel.

Noelle and Kris both have sound clips when eating the CD bagel, but I haven’t been able to link them to other cats. My musical hearing IS NOT GOOD, so it’s possible one of them is like sped up or something.

Largely agree.

I tend to think of diagetic player (and the very idea that undertale is ‘canonically’ a video game) as something that is true in all routes of the game, but it’s like eldritch knowledge that no in-game character has the breadth of knowledge or perspective to realize. Many characters (often scientists or those with lots of experience) do figure out parts of this fundamental truth, and can use it to their advantage. Gerson knows that he is safe while he stays in his ‘merchant room’. Sans and Asgore can mess with the battle UI. Sans knows and takes advantage of the turn based combat. Monsters in general seem to be aware that their name turns yellow when they can be spared and call their magic ‘bullet patterns’. So I tend to suspect that Flowey’s chosen wording (he literally calls the it a ‘save file’) isn’t only metaphor he came up with. He knows (like everyone does a little) that the world he lives in functions on some level like a video game. He just doesn’t put together that it really IS a video game that someone else (who is outside of the game) is playing.

My controversial undertale opinion is that the player is only directly acknowledged in the story in the no mercy route itself by chara. Subsequently chara Is the ONLY character aware that we exist.

Every other instance of a character acknowledging 'us' In the game is them assuming we are the same person as chara. (See, floweys post pacifist speech)

Flowey acknowledging us at the end of the post pacifist is NOT him being aware that we exist, it's him talking to us through the assumption WE are chara, he just happens to be wrong about what charas like- but RIGHT about what WE are like

Flowey flirts with the fourth wall, but is functionally unaware he's in a video game, instead he describes his experiences using video game mechanics as a metaphor. Hes not actually aware he's in a video game.

Chara though? The entire no mercy route only functions if we the player are apart of it, and chara themselves is very aware of us-maybe not quite aware they are in a video game but WE are apart of their story and acknowledged as such in a way we aren't in any other route.

Tldr: the player is apart of undertales story, but only directly plays a role during the no mercy route, we do control frisk in every route, but for the most part our possession of them is minor and negligible to the stories of those routes.

Especially since this takes place RIGHT AFTER we learn Frisk is their own person. Like what, why is this my choice, why am I still role playing as this kid.

Just a reminder that is ending exists.

'I have places to go' has so much potential for storytelling.

Frisk could have a loving family that they want to return to. Maybe they were so traumatized by the Underground that they believed that anything was better than staying with them. Maybe they feel like they don't deserve Toriel's love and care.

Originally I was gonna come up with something to say about Doggo just in general but I was looking at his wiki for reference pictures and was just struck by the tradgedy of this line. Toby Fox is so good at fleshing out the world and really making the characters feel real and giving real consequences for your actions, even in minor characters

I really love astigmatism, like they're character design is so unique the eye that turns into a mouth and the 'eyelashes" that turn into eyes

It's beautiful

Also the fact that they're are a reformed bully and that they ask you to pick on them like they want to feel like their victims felt I just think it's super sweet I really really love them they're one of my favorite "background" character
