It will get cold again eventually. The summer will not last forever. I’m not doomed to live in this unbearable heat for all eternity. <- said while gripping the countertop so hard that the tile is starting to crack

y’all ever read a fanfic that you cannot believe an author just wrote for free?? what an honor it is to read a piece of someone’s soul they shared out of nothing but love for a piece of media. what a privilege it is to be allowed their talent because you share an interest!!

Ok so I can stop thinking about this because it feels like from what I’ve read and heard discourse wise I’m the only one making this connection but Cheyenne from Etoile reminds me so so so much of Sylvie Guillem (real life ballerina, etoile at POB and just general badass)
So let me make my case: Cheyenne has a deep respect for ballet so much so that when the other dancers complain about doing the Nutcracker she loses it and agrees to do all of the performances of sugar plum herself. Sylvie has a deep respect for ballet and the work put into the art form, and in a Dance Masterclass interview she explicitly says if you don’t take this job seriously you should just leave because it’s unfair to all the other people who want to be on stage. And then another connecting point for me is their hair! Cheyenne routinely wears her hair down! Or in a simple braid down her back. My friend was like this is unrealistic, and I was like no actually Sylvie Guillem used to do this AND at one point had a bob and insisted on doing classics in that hairstyle. For those not just like entrenched in ballet, this isn’t usually accepted like they’ll put dancers in wigs so their hair fits the ballet’s aesthetics.

Cheyenne and then below is Sylvie

ALOT OF THE CHARACTERS IN ETOILE ARE STYLED AFTER REAL PEOPLE!!!!!!

I love a real program because I take notes on them!!!! I can do this without disturbing the audience too!! I saw a woman taking notes on a laptop between pieces at nycballet the other month and I was like girl that so distracting for you and the rest of the audience simply because you’re not present fully in the space and pulling people out of their presence by bringing this device in here. She wasn’t using it while people danced but like still it was distracting! And unnecessary
I am completely on Jack’s side regarding the program thing at the ballet. No way in hell would I prefer a lousy QR code, distractingly bright, need WiFi to access, gone in a second program over a glossy, thick paper one with weight and smooth sides that can be kept as a memento for years to come. That board is crazy and so are the guests who prefer digital.
