Totally agree. Actually as soon as I hit send I realized I should have added that canon doesn't even matter when it comes to shipping! Like, what happened to fandom when we all were just "ship and let ship" and "ykinmkato"?? Also I really do not understand this need that people seem to have gained in the last few years where they need their ship confirmed by the actors to make it "valid"? Who cares? Robby and a few of the kiddos work the hospital pride booth while Jack works inside the ER half the morning before switching with the other shift, that way night shift can catch the morning parade and day shift can catch the evening one

Robby and Emery give Javadi, Whitaker and Samira a ride, leaving Jack stuck with Santos and Parker (he’s the only one who can handle them together and can give as much as he gets)

Robby promises Emery the kids will just get lost and they’re not walking the parade together (he’s lying). They meet with Dana and McKay and a few more people eventually (after spending ten minutes yelling at each other on the phone swearing they’re all in the same place) lose Emery when she goes to find her wife and daughter.

the kids come back with rainbows on their cheeks (Santos has a big rainbow on her forehead and downs her arms as well) and Jack pouts and says he also wants makeup! Mohan offers eyeliner and glitter that Jack gladly accepts and allows the resident to put on him

Jack’s wearing a tee that says in rainbow letters “in dog years I’m gay” with a few colorful stars (Parker bought it for him, it’s a bit tight because she probably got it a size too small but Robby LOVES IT) Robby is wearing a tank top that says “the first gay pride was a riot” with a pink triangle, the tank top is old enough to vote and looks like it can fall apart if you look at it wrong

Emery and her wife are wearing “protect trans kids” and “if you don’t fight for all women then you stand for no women!” tops and their daughter has a rainbow tutu

Garcia and Santos have matching “I <3 my hot girlfriend” tops

Samira has a top that says “girlfriend to some, boyfriend to others” and a she/they pronouns pin

Santos has a little bag with dozens of badges that she made herself (with Whitaker during movie night) and everyone hones in around it and start picking out pins to wear

Jack ends up with three, one that says “stop sucking start biting” another one with the mlm flag and a “I own my own body but I share” one (Robby is NOT a big fan of that last pin)

Robby accepts the one Javadi hands him (Pride or die) after Walsh insists he wears one that simply says “fag” in big bold letters (McKay keeps it)

Parker gets one that says “dyke princess” Santos made specifically for her

saw a coffee shop Shen hc and thought of Shen grabbing coffee at his usual speciality coffee shop near the Pitt (even if he likes dunkin most of the time)

he’s in line when he hears some familiar voices, Robby and Jack are at the counter waiting for their drinks, arguing over whatever, it’s strange because it’s their free day so there’s no reason for them to be near the pitt unless they’re hanging out

he’s about to go say hi when he notices they’re holding hands, it makes him doubt a little about approaching them, even more so when Robby simply leans in and kisses Jack to shut him up about matcha

Ok, hear me out.

Robby and Abbot meet in med school and do their med school & intern year rotations together at PTMC.

They’re best friends, inseparable, and it’s clear that there’s something more going on there. Both of them want it, want to say something to the other or do something about it, but life gets in the way before they can.

Abbot winds up having to join the army to pay off med school, which Robby isn’t happy about. He’s terrified that Abbot will get hurt, but can’t communicate for shit, so they just wind up getting into a huge fight over it instead. Abbot leaves for the army anyway, and two of them lose contact, both still very upset and hurt about the fight.

Meanwhile, Robby goes to New Orleans to do his residency for a few years. When he eventually returns to PTMC, he finds that Abbot is already working there.

He’s down a leg and wearing a wedding ring now, but he’s still the same person Robby’s always known him to be. Even though things are a little awkward at first, they eventually become friends again and Robby quickly discovers that his feelings for Abbot never quite went away.

The problem, of course, is that Abbot is married. He wears a wedding ring, talks about his wife occasionally, and people at work ask about her. Robby, however, has never met her and all his questions about her towards Abbot are met with passive aggressiveness. Plus, Abbot keeps flirting with him, which just makes things even more confusing.

Pretty soon, things come to a head and Robby can’t stand the confusion anymore and confronts Abbot about it. Yells at him that he needs to make up his mind and that Robby isn’t going to spend another decade or two pining over a married man.

It’s at this point that Abbot takes his ring off and just says to Robby, “my wife and I haven’t been happy for a long time, I don’t know why I still wear it. I’d rather be with you.”

and divorced Abbot instead of widower Abbot is a new one for me! We always run with what Shawn said because he forgot to take off his ring

but Abbot marrying and then being unhappy because he’s carrying a torch for someone else (aka Robby) even after soooo long and so much time has time passed makes so much sense, and he’s resigned himself to it, to an unhappy marriage because his wife was there when he lost a foot, his wife was there when he had to relearn how to walk and not be angry at the world

but when Robby comes back that particular house of cards comes tumbling down and he sees a different way out with Robby

I hope this isn’t annoying to share, but every time I read your url, I think about it in a medical context, so like “Abbot coded” as in “Abbot had a heart attack (and died).” Instead of in the tumblr way, meaning like “____ feels/is very Abbot-like.” 😅
