Hello, hello!
Welcome to the blog(ish) version of Abby's Book Bag. Normally you can find me over on Instagram, Goodreads, Storygraph, and occasionally Pinterest (all under the same username), but I wanted to have another space to share book/writing related things. Because... you know... obviously I don't have enough places haha!
So consider this an introduction post! My name is Abby and I'm a fellow book lover! I'm a relatively slow reader most of the time, but I love chatting books. Here's a little bit about my reading tastes/what you can expect:
What genres do you read?
A little bit of everything, honestly! I really enjoy a good fantasy or romance but have been diving a bit into horror recently. I've been known to pick up a thriller/general fiction every now and then. I also read middle grade, YA, and adult. So like... there's a lot of variety you'll see on here!
Go-to book recommendation(s)?
The Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab is easily my favorite recommendation to give people. It's a beginner-friendly fantasy given its simple magic system, but is engaging enough even for die-hard fantasy readers to get into it (in my opinion). The writing is incredible, the characters are amazing (many are my comfort characters at this point), and it's just overall a great trilogy now being expanded on. Not to mention it's one of the few series I have reread multiple times and has made me cry every time.
Basically anything V.E. Schwab I will recommend. Other authors I love are Alison Cochrun, Jonathan Sims, Martha Wells, and Erin Morgenstern.
Other hobbies?
I'm attempting to write a book of my own if the ideas would settle and let me focus on one at a time haha! I also love to craft and will randomly pick up crafts to do. The latest has been bookmark-making and bracelet-making. I also love listening to a good story podcast. Highly recommend The Magnus Archives and now The Magnus Protocol (my latest obsession).
What kind of content should we expect?
For sure reviews when I have them and remember to bring them over here. (I'll be working on moving some from this year/some of my favorites over soon!) I might do reading updates, possibly live blogging my reads/sharing thoughts throughout if I feel like it (spoilers will be tagged!), and I'll obviously share pretty book pictures I share on other platforms. So there should be a variety. Maybe some blog posts too? I have some ideas for those... We'll see what my brain comes up with basically!
