"I fully plan on running the 5k hungover, and then curing myself with mimosas after." Zana shrugged, licking the sugar rim off her own drink before taking another sip. "But I used to run still drunk in my earlier twenties, so I just love to suffer."
open - @aurorabaystarter
where - around town square
"The real question is, sign up for this 5k? Or, fuck it and and reserve a spot for brunch?" Luce asked aloud, sipping on a frozen cocktail that had been rainbow but now everything was mixed together into a murky color. "Like, do we go with health or the bottomless mimosas?"

As much as she had a good cry, had fun, and the experience teenage her dreamed of, she was ready to be done for the night. It would've been more complete catching a snack or a drink in someone's basement with a game of spin the bottle, but Zana had long come to the conclusion some things were better left in the movies.
Instead, her night in tinted windows arrives.
A honk of the horn, a bright smile replaces the expression she was wearing on her face, heels in one hand, the other giving him the middle finger as she walks across the headlights to the passengers side.
"You're so annoying!" She laughs grateful to get off her feet finally. "It will do for now, but just know your brownie points for being a savior of the night won't get you far." She teases back, searching through her clutch for the hairtie she brought for the end of the night. "Where are we going anyway? Yours? Mine? Food? Drinks?"
CLOSED STARTER for @abcwithmsz
He waited through the end of the night, until he got that text. Now he pulls up to where he sees the crowd, in search of Zana amidst the prom goers. There are plenty of them dispersing, plenty of them not hand in hand with a date, so he makes a note to himself that strokes his own ego.
Aeris didn’t have to go in order to fill his plans for the evening.
Of course, amongst them are some faces that earn the roll of his eyes and a sour look that might be hard to discern from a distance, or through tinted windows, but when he spots her, he lightly taps the horn and rolls down the passenger side window.
“Get in, loser,” Aeris calls out. “Sorry I’m underdressed, but as you know, local man hates fun, so here I am, in my not-so-fun tee and jeans. Hope that’s good enough for you, doll.”

There are tears welling up in her eyes. Embarrassment, frustration, disappointment, and prior lives flooding over her. There's a tone change in his voice though, a realization a line had been crossed, trust violated, something. Zana isn't even sure why it set her off so much, it's not like she expected any better from him, anything at all really, but she lands on it being the lack of respect towards her. She swallows back the tightness in her throat and just nods at first, the shock of an apology settling in. "Yeah... Yeah I do." A solemn grin on her face as she finally looks to him again.
"I'm sorry it didn't work out with you and whoever. That's never fun." The playing field even once more, a reality check pushing them into common ground; at least for now.
He nodded his head, understanding well the having mouths to feed. The only reason he was able to make it to event was because he controlled his own schedule. But honestly, he was just teasing a bit to get her riled up a bit. Clearly he had gone too far he realized as the brunette folded her arms and gave him a piece of her mind. "I'm sorry- I swear, I'm just messing with you... I did get caught up with someone, but it didn't get anywhere. I think you can be a bit happy, I ended up getting my heart broken a little." he finally admitted.
Kangmin wasn't the type to open up a lot on his personal, or relationship life. He avoided serious interactions as best as he could. However, with April things were beginning to feel more than just a casual hookup. The feeling was mutual, but they waited too long to act on it. In the end, it got messy and didn't work out the way that he hoped they would. The both ended up moving on to other people. "I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. I know you may not believe me, but it really wasn't my intention." he said, probably more serious than he normally is around her. "I'm sure you know what it's like when you catch feelings for someone."

She stays quiet. It is dreamy, and Zana rolls her eyes at the insinuation, though she had the same thoughts. Not that she was the paranoid type, nothing could be quite as bad as her divorce, but maybe she was a tad insecure and the same thought had crossed her mind if he was seeing other people and just not telling her. "Maybe. But we all have mouths to feed and bills to pay, there will be other events." She reasons, choosing to look on the positive side.
Eyebrows knit together, every word pouring from his mouth pissing her off more and more. "You're disgusting, and I can't relate to a single thing coming out of your mouth." She huffs, arms crossing over her chest as she looks over at him. Jaw tense as she swallows back her voice, tongue rolling behind her teeth as she controls her thoughts with every thread he's wearing on. "You really hurt my feelings, Kangmin." Not that it mattered, but at least she said it and didn't cry.
"He sounds dreamy." Kangmin couldn't help but tease. He had to admit, it was odd seeing her out on a date. He could get a little bit competitive like that, but if she was looking for something more than perhaps he shouldn't be standing in her way...But then again, she never said she had an issue with him being in her way. Who was he to make choices for her. "Probably could've ditch work if he's all that great though." he shrugged slightly, wondering if there was more to the 'out of town' story.
A light chuckle left his lips as the petite woman called him out. "Maybe a bit, yea. But you know how it is, I didn't wanna make shit awkward, y'know?" he shrugged slightly, not really finding the words. It wasn't like he could explain the situation very well. "It wasn't that I lost interest, you just had bad timing...unless you wanted a threesome. Then I guess I missed out."

She was sure getting the prom experience seventeen year old her missed out on; the dancing, the laughing, the pretty dress, the gossip, the crying, the feeling lonely in a crowd of people. The thought makes her laugh as she finishes removing the mascara streaks in the bathroom and heading back to party. She supposes it's true what they say; nothing really changes. She stops, head turning towards the glass case, nodding a bit at his question. "Yeah, I did track too, actually." She smiles and looks back at the man on the floor, deciding it seemed comfortable and sliding down a locker to sit next to him. "I was pretty fast till I blew out my right knee." She rotates her leg inward to show an old surgical scar, eyebrow raised.
"Oh? Were you up to no good or just a class clown with no filter?"

When Jameson had been in high school, he was essentially banned from attending prom. The last year of school he had tried to better himself. Doing the work that would help him academically and socially but in the end they still just saw a Cassidy which always spelled trouble; Someone to be made an example of. It was why he was somehow still shocked that he wasn’t being immediately thrown out of the dance this time around. He’d arguably been through worse, but it wasn’t high school anymore. Hopefully people changed. Still, he was sitting out in the hallway after a couple drinks and looking at some of the photos and trophies that adorned the cases. “ you ever try out for any sports? “ he asked glancing over. “ I was really good at track but I got put on academic probation so joining a team would have never happened. Honestly I’m shocked the school didn’t put me on a do not enter list out of tradition “

Zana couldn't think of anything worse than a reunion with former classmates; she's grateful she doesn't have to suffer that trauma here. "True. A lot of people went here huh? I forgot about that." She laughed a little, it didn't seem like people grew up here with how distant others could seem, but every so often she gets the reminder.
A laugh erupts from her as he keeps talking, shaking her head. "No, I did not drop out, but I didn't go. My parents weren't going to pay for it, and I had exams to study for anyway..." Her head tilts, looking up at him. It hits her that while they're neighbors, she knows nothing about him. "Why did you drop out?"
deacon's eyes follow hers, taking in all the meticulously hung streamers and garland. "yeah! I'm honestly surprised they didn't think of this sooner, you know, with the fact I'm pretty sure more than half the population is a completely different person to who they were in high school." he admitted with a grin. in someway, it was true for him. life had weathered away at his 'pretty boy' shine. but underneath all the gloss, he was the same old class clown with a heart of gold.
"nah, I dropped out at the end of my junior year, and I wasn't really focused on the prom or anything like that during the whole season. life had other things going on."
dark eyes wandered back over to her, a soft smile still playing on his lips. "what about you? if you did, I bet you were prom queen." a moment passed as he thought. "well, at least if being stunning was the only criteria. which it may be. I have no idea how those things work."

Now she's scowling. He's got a lot of nerve; Zana will always give him that. A sense of entitlement and boldness she didn't quite hold herself but wished she could embody somehow. Maybe someday. "It does. He's a nice guy who calls or texts and expresses his feelings and thoughts." She sighs, arms crossing over her chest. Her mouth twists off to the side, a sense of longing as she gazes at couples and friends as they slow dance. At least she looks pretty. "Me. Dickhead." She finally caves with a groan.
"Feelings aren't required, but at minimum respect my time. A simple 'I'm prioritizing other people' or 'lost interest' even, I mean my god," The pent up ramble leaves her before she can stop it, sucking in a deep breath and shaking her head. "Your communication skills are astonishing, Kangmin, astonishing."
"Why wouldn't I have something to say?" The man asked, feigning ignorance. Kangmin knew he probably didn't address things as well as he should've with them. But they were just having a good time, he didn't think she'd be upset with his availability suddenly changing out of nowhere. It was easier to not complicate things or have any awkward conversations. At least to him. "Dakota -I guess he looked like a Dakota. That sucks though, he couldn't be your date tonight." the little smirk on his face didn't go away. "Ditch her, too? No. She's hanging out with some friends inside." he said, stepping closer to her. "Who else did I ditch?"

It wasn't even so much that it was a major deal, it wasn't. The reasonable side of her knew she was being petty and childish, but wasn't it also fair? Didn't she deserve the courtesy of a 'not interested'? She thought so. Zana maintains the lax expression, though feeling the coy look on his own face makes her nose want to wrinkle up. Instead, she shakes her head when he finally speaks, carefully pinning the strap of her heel back in place and smoothing out the slit of her dress.
"Surprised you have anything to say at all." She remarks, mouth twisting off to the side. A compliment she normally would've loved, pretty girls deserve to be told they're pretty but when he says it now it feels cheap. "Dakota. He's working in LA the next couple weeks. Where's your date?" She asks, looking back to the room, curious who he came with since he doesn't seem the type to fly solo at these events. "Ditch her too?"
location: prom! for: @jokangmin
Social is one of the best words to describe Zana. Maybe she's a little melancholy, or moody, or whatever word her ex and mother would use to describe her, but if there's one thing she's going to do regardless; it's go to a party. Stepping off outside during a slow song for a breath of fresh air and to fix her shoe, she hums along to the song, looking up to the familiar face she sees around too often.
She makes sure to bite her tongue, though the quips have her ready to explode as they bottle up in her mouth. But if he isn't going to say anything she isn't either. Two can play this childish game, and after working with children, she is an expert.

Zana hadn't been able to attend her own prom, either year, so it was nice to have an excuse to dress up, dance, but now with the added benefit of being an adult with adult money and being able to wear a dress that scandalously showed her ankles (and more skin). She sips her drink, eyes widening at the adults getting very into the party part, looking to Eleanor and nodding. "I sure did..." A quiet moment before she laughs. "Maybe people should be cut off."
location: prom at aurora bay high school ( choose your own adventure )
eleanor wasn't exactly sure if it was a good idea to go to the prom since she just got back in town last month and she's still trying to settle back in aurora bay. but it seemed like such a nostalgic event that she couldn't quite pass up. always the people watcher, her eyes widened a little at the sight before her. " did you see that or was that just me? " eleanor voiced with disbelief as she turned to the person next to her, raising her brow towards them. // @aurorabaystarter

"Wouldn't say brimming." Though she smiles at the descriptor, stirring her milkshake as she thinks. "But it's a pretty lax place to be. It doesn't seem the troubles that normally come with tourist towns follow, which is nice since people can be very close knit." She remarks, spooning some of the whip cream off, looking him over a moment before speaking again. "Decided it wasn't the event for you or just a quick change?"
WHO: Anyone! @aurorabaystarter WHERE: A food/drink establishment in town. WHEN: Can be pre or post prom.
Aurora Bay was interesting, to say the least. The hospitality was uncanny, and Stéphan didn't know whether to attribute it to people simply being more pleasant thanks to the proximity to the beach or its unique way of gathering the community together. No wonder his siblings were seemingly thriving here. "Is this place always brimming with unmatched optimism?" He had heard chatter about the prom and made the better choice not to attend. "I feel like I'm in some fairytale land."

location: Aurora Bay Prom for: @deacon-chun "Ugh, this is such a fun idea!" Zana beams as she takes in the decorations, eyeing all the familiar faces in the process, searching for her own friends who have yet to arrive. For now, she's latched onto Deacon, feeling a little more like a chaperone at a middle school dance than a party goer herself at the moment. "Did you go to prom as a kid?"
