Final Development Phase

While developing the project we got a chance to introduce our project to some CPE instructor and gather some feedback from them. One of the instructor's concern was about 'group alarm' where "what if some member of the group change the set alarm before it rang" and "what if the phone is off". After they gave us a "what if" case my team and i discusses what with be our actions.

During the development phase, all that will be needed to implement or to make the project possible is arranged. The development phase is complete when implementation is ready to start. All matters must be clear for the team that will carry out the implementation and deliver the planned output of the project.

We agreed to have a add a feature in our Group Alarm a ADMIN in the group where those ADMIN are the one who are allowed to change and set the alarm agreed by the group. So that the set alarm cannot be tampered and change by anyone in a group. Though we got a critical point because demo day is fast approaching and our group aarm is not working yet, I hope we can make it on time

We learned that more mind is better than one. because we have this point where we are struggling deliberating what actions will we do so solve or to handle the feedback and suggestion of the user.

PROJECT TESTING

This week we test our 1st phase of our application which is the "SIGN IN/SIGN OUT" and locate each user to our database, we had our adaptors registered (sign up) to the applications and gather some feedback about the application. So far the feedback are all positive and they are excited about our application. We also tried to get some random people to registered our application and after we discuss our app to them they quiet amaze by the idea of the "group alarm" and wish us GOODLUCK.

Project testing is where you verify a system with the purpose of identifying any errors, gaps/missing requirements and the actual requirements of the system. Through testing you can able to determine what flow of the system you would like to happen and determine the function of each button of your project and what its purpose.

At the end of the day we summarized all the feedback and suggestions we get from our testing. Though we still working on our "group alarm" because its not working yet,and our adaptors are excited to try the group alarm with their group of friends.

We learned that getting feedback from our users are really helpfull in our project because we will able to know what they want and what they wanted to happen. Though some of their suggestions we can't make it happen because its impossible to do.

Project Implementation : part2

According to Bryan Hill an entertainment industry consultant, author, screenwriter, musician, comic book writer, and graphic designer "An implementation plan breaks down each strategy in the strategic plan into action plans with assigned responsibilities, costs, staffing and target date for completion, it focus on the details of the implementation plan rather than the overall picture, wasting time and effort.

This week we focused on our project implementations, on the making/coding the programmer in our group realized that some of our project features are really hard to make/implement, we have some features in our app that we dont know what to do just to make it possible like in our group alarm features.Though our Rollet features are already done and we did some researches on how to make it happened but we were worried because final is fast approaching we cant just sit knowing that our final grade will depend in our final output.

My team and I decided to team up again and just focus only in making our app and minimize the validation part since we gather enough information to validate our product. Though We dont have much help because we dont have a skill set to help them but in researches we can contribute into that. In our little way, Edgar and I are glad that we can help in making our applications even in a small and easy part of our application since we will all take part of the result.

We learned that be carefull of what you are planning or proposing one product because during implementation it will backfire to you and cause you your downfall. Next time if anything like this or it can relate to project/proposing we must be carefull in our plan and think not twice but hundred times if we can make it and "KAYA BA NAMO BUHATON".

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

Project Implementation is where all your logical conclusion, evaluations, decisions, visions and plans become reality which involves putting your project plan into actions. And to make what you get in validation possible. It is the phase where you need to achieve the project.

This week we tried different programming languages that we learn to know if what language should fit to our project development and platform for our application. though there are languages that are very hard to understand and declaration is quite confusing but it still helpful to the application we make. Connecting our backend and frontend is very challenging part.

With our testing/exploring of different languages and platform My team and I decided to use a Visual studio on our application with a specific SDK and IDE version we also decided our layout design- What is our system look like and flow of our app.As we already decided what to make, our programmer Nik Cyrell Yabo and Green Marc Augusto will continue the project development as Edgar Catulong and I will continue to seek more validation of our project. We will just give them an update about our validation.

This week activity, Skill set is very important because without the knowledge of my team our project leads to knowhere, we also learned that cooperation is very important for a team to be successful and to make the project possible.

REVENUE MODEL

Revenue model is very important in a startup. It is a phase where "How your startup makes money" and your revenue is an exchange of value that you will give to your customer. It is a phase where you decide which revenue source to pursue,what value you will offer, how to price the value and who pays the value.

This week we we test our hypothesis to know our Revenue model through interviewing and conducting a survey to our target customer. We had a survey with 9 item question and an interview of our adapters with the question "HOW MUCH DO YOU WILLING TO PAY FOR THE APP" we also had try to introduce our product through social media through infograpghics if there is a feedback and suggestion or etc. though the question asked in our inforgraphics is the queation that already asked by our instructor.

By the result of our hypothesis we decided to price our theme - 20php, the most common answer from our interview and survey is our basis to support our decision and plan about our revenue,we also concluded that we can make money through our theme and the value we will give to them havent changed. Because we tested that those values they will need to solved thier problems. We also had a option if these will not work again we need to change the strategies on how to get them enganged and commit to us. Though we started it last alreadg we want to validate and interview more for strong foundation of our startup.

We learned that the trickiest part REVENUE is how to get money in each of your customer segments because each customers have different way and methods to make money out of them.We learned a lot of startegies though we havent apply it all in our start up. One step at a time.

VALIDATION

"Changing the mindset of the filipino is quite difficult, because it is part of the system of each individual and part of of their behavior, Changing their behavior is a personal choice and most of a filipino will adapt if they will emotionally attached to one thing and in that way you can pursade them, filipino must not depend on the technology nowadays, discipline is a personal choice and your app must only be a guide to rebrand filipino time concept" said by our interviewee Miss Glenda Libed, a Psychologist and a Principal of Senior High School at University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines when we asked "How should we change the mindset of the students to use our app/ filipino time" last September 4, 2018

We also have an intervew with another professionals for our hypothesis to proved if we can add "professionals/corporate" in our customer segment and not just a students. fortunately we got positive feedback and the result of our hypothesis is positive. We also got the feedback of the customer we interviewed about the app and realized that part of our application features is not really necrssary according to them.

We decided that we will make some changes in our customer segments and add "professionals/corporate" because it will also beneficial to them.We also decide that we will focus on the group features and reward/punishment because this is the part that they are very interested to try.

This week we learned that communicating with the potential/real customers is very helpful in the startup.Go out of the building and explore more, there so much to discover in the real world.

PLANNING

this week was very tough. We need to double our effort for us to catch up our grades in midterm. We set a calendar of our plan next week and hopelfully we will achieve it next week and have our validation. We also plan to interview another target such us business if it is okay to have a business as one of our customer.

We will still planning how the points system work in our venture. Though the first thing in our mind is our validation since that is the reason why we pivot and we cant pivot again for another the same reason so we must double our effort so make our venture possible.

We also make our pain, gain and key features in the Filipino time , we already done it with our first venture but since this is our new idea we make another set of pain,gain and key features. We also did our assignments since i was absent the day the assignment was given so my teamates who is present those days presented and discuss what "must to do" next meeting.

We still have a lot of things to do since pivot our idea in a last moment.So now with the experience we experienced with the planogram we must secure the Validation so we won't repeat another same mistakes.

Pitching Week

We had a pitching last aug 20, 2018 with our new venture though it went well (I guess?) but maybe the problem was not stated properly because the panel asked "what is the problem again?". There are also some question that we don't have an answer like "How do we change the mindset of filipino people" so the panel suggested that we talk/interview psychologist for that question to answer, they also give us recommendation for our venture.

Hopefully we can interview psychologist next week knowing that there's a lot of holiday plus intramurals.We dont know yet who will be our sponsor to our venture. Since we decided we were going to change one of our mechanics of our features so we need sponsor for our reward part of the application.

We also had a seminars Impact hub with the speaker Carlo Valencia,Gerald Castillo,Ruel Amparo,Guita Gopalan. They talked about the dos and don'ts in starting a statup which is very helpful specially in the interview part though some of it already discuss by our instructor but its good to know that they mention those topic. We learned so much this week from pitching to seminars. Hope we can apply those learnings in our future journey in our venture. And hopefully those unanswered question will be answer as soon as possible for us to move forward in our venture.

PIVOT

This week was a tough week. We keep finding another potential user while waiting for our another customer to update us but still they will give us an answer of "we will just update you" so we need to wait again. But our midterm pitch can't wait no more so we need to think of another way to save our midterm grade because waiting the update of our target customer is risky we might get a "5.0" in our midterm if we pitch our planoreporting even without a Validation.

So my team and I always think of pivoting our idea but we always said "dont you think its too late? its already midterm" and to think that if we pivot we back to zero, like we need to start all over again and we must done it all in a short period of time, but when our last target customer gave us a risky/tentative hope we gave up and decided to pivot, I know its too late and risky but we are eager to pass this subject, so right there in an instant moment we make a BMC, presentation to propose our new venture and fortunately with a group work we done it easily.

we also decided to make our pitch deck but NIK YABO one of my team volunteer to make the pitch deck since he will the one to pitch in behalf of our group so we agreed, we also have a doubt because we dont know what to pitch since we decided to pivot our idea, are we going to pitch the Planogram or the Filipino Time? so we must wait the approval of my instructor and tomorrow is our pitching day so we are in doomed.

We learned that Customer Validation is very important in a business specially in a startup because without this, all your effort making it possible will just go to waste. We also learned all hard things will make easy if you have a team to work with together.

MIDTERM WEEK

Since its midterm we didn't interview another customer we just updated our BMC and answers the given assignments with PAIN RELIEVER,GAIN CREATOR, and KEY FEATURES of our product we also started to make a lo-fi MVP.

This was also the week where our instructor discuss the basic components and essence of Pitching and how to Pitch. Though i cant imagine myself pitching infront of many people, there are a time where we need to choose who in my team will going to pitch but Nik Yabo volunteered so case closed! according to him he wanted to train and enhance his communication skilll, which is okay since pitching infront of many people is really a challenge

Since Nik Yabo will going to pitch in our team we decided to train him also, we will ready the slides for him so that he can practice earlier and we can give feedback since Pitching really needs a lot of practice according to our instructor which we strongly agree because within 3 minutes the listener must undertstand the concept and how our products work. We also watch the trivago video consist of 1 minute but within the span of time he tackle all the important details and thats very amazing. I always see the trivago advertisment in our television but i havent really appreciate each detail and give any attention to it but when our instructor introduces the content and concept of pitching it blown my mind.

Overall,this is a stressfull week and we learned that getting an adaptor is really hard and still dont have any update from the company we interviewed and promised to give us a ASAP update. We will think and look another low ground target since agency are taking us a million year for an update

Decision Makers Validation

Last July 31, 2018 We went to North asia manpower services to conduct an interview for our decision makers validation,we have a talk with thier coordinator and HR head and according to them " We like your idea, but the decision will come to the upper rank of the company since we are just under to them, we cant make such decision, we still need approval from them". "Dili mana ma pwedi diri kay wala man me internet connection" they follow. Though mobile data are existing nowadays we never blame some people to have a negative feedbacks in our proposal.

My team and I decided to have another interview with another agency because the first agency seems negative. So last August 4,2018 we conducted another interview to the Starboard Manpower Services and unliked the first interview, the talked with some staff in the starboard gave us hope when she said " we like the idea, we also want to help the merchandisers on how to use technologies nowadays,since some our coordinator here are also using Online reporting" and we got a little speechless when she said "whats the payment process of your proposal?" we didn't expect such questions so we dont know if we answered it right.

We also plan to have another interview this coming Aug.6, 2019 since the two agency will jsut gave us update on what is the decision of the company they are under in. So our proposal are still cloudy. My team and I are already worried because we haven't got our first adaptor yet midterm exam is in nextweek.

Through our interview we learned that agency is not really our decision maker. They are just our media to make our proposal hypothesis possible they will also depend on the decission of the higher decision maker so we need to wait the feedback in the company that the agency are part with or belong in.

Business Model Canvass

This week was all about deciding wether our proposal is approved or rejected,but as for now we are in a moment that we need to validate the decision makers for our proposal to be approve, we cant proceed properly in our business model canvass if our proposal is not approved yet, so my team and I are in extra time and effort to make it done immediately because midterm is fast approaching.

We make a business model canvas for our unapproved proposal (yet?) for us to know some detail of our proposal,as we go on along with our BMC we have a lot of struggles answering the question, especially the in revenue streams, honestly we dont know how to make money out of our proposal because we did not focus on it yet. Then it hit us that this a business so we should really think how to make money out of our venture.

Last July 28, 2018 we gave a letter to the agency that we will be going to interview with to make an appointment and hopefully they will reply as soon as possible for us to proceed to the next step of our proposal. We also discuss for our new updated BMC,check the feedback of our instructor, I havent really put an importance of the color code,I thought it was just there to make the presentation presentable but it was not. I realize that it has a purpose when we go along with our BMC making.

Overall, this is a tiring week for us because we didnt have much update of our proposal and we need to act and make it done before midterm week come.

Team Formation and Team Dynamics

The photo above was captured last July 20, 2018 @Performing Art theater,it was our 1st lecture series in our TECHNO with our speaker Mr. Rhey Miñoza the CEO of the streetby app talked about team formation and team dynamics. Electronics Engineering,Mechanical Engineering, IT and Architecture are also present during the talk.The lecture was lasted an hour and it was very informative,inspiring and helpful to our team

During the talk he discussed team formation and team dynamics which is very important to the startup, the topic alone got my interest because it talk so much how to handle your team and how to motivate your self to reach the mission and vision of your startup specially when he mention that he learned those startup in our very own school and started just like us - student. Miss Angelica Catarong my collegue also asked MR.Rhey during the forum about "how to trust your team" and he answered "trust comes in the process of making your startup" and i strongly agree to that because in our team "trust" is an issue. We had a moment where our trust measured and tested. We also faced struggle and constant misunderstanding in our team so when he talked how they solved every problem in their team we learned a lot and probably apply it in our team.

"Success is a destination, it's a journey" the speaker also qoute that during the talk where every steps on our startup will always have a lesson to ponder , a struggle to face, a trust to be tested, and a goal to achieve. Many students asked a question that make sense and even us dont know and cannot answer it really make sense specially now that our recent proposal was rejected and we need to come up with another idea that would really give a great impact.

Overall we learned a lot from the people who have an idea of a real world business startup and it was amazing that they gave us an insight and advices of a real world problem that a business startup team usually face. And it motivates us to work harder seeing of what they've become in life just because of their startup. I am amazed by the thought of every step they gone through after they become a successful business startup.

Proposal and Feedback

This week Engr. Bronson Mabulay gave each group a feedback about our project, through this we realized that indeed a constructive criticism and feedback are very important for my team to formulate better decisions to improve and increase performance, it also motivate us to to do better and correct the feedback that was given to us. When Engr. Mabulay gave us a feedback we realize that there are still a loop hole of our proposal, we thought we already know everything about our proposed project but we got speechless when he asked something we couldn't think of.

"One problem at a time" that is one of Engr. Mabulay's feedback and this line gave us a thought to decide again what we want to continue. In our discussion we had a hard time deciding when we proceed to ONLINE REPORTING or we go to PLANOGRAM. We also asked some of my classmate if what is better between the two but they just said that "Kamo, e emphasize lang jud ang problem bay para masabtan". My team and I are seriously having a hard time to decide since we haven't gone any consultation with our Instructor.

So we decided to give it a try with ONLINE REPORTING since most feedback about our PLANOGRAM is NEGATIVE. We also decided to have a interview tomorrow with random employees who usually used manual reporting for their work for better information. My team and I evaluate each skills we possessed since Engr. Mabulay asked during our defense about my team skill set and that time we realized we haven't talk or discuss about it indeed. So as a result we decided that Nik Yabo will be our Hacker, Edgar Catulong is our hipster, and Green Marc Agusto and I will be the Hustler of our team.

Overall, we learned that getting feedback with random people and most specially from the experts gave us a lot of idea to improve and enhanced the thing we think is right. Though there are times that the feedback is negative and sometimes hurt us but still we know that this negative feedback will lead us to positive and successful team, that they just said those words for us to grow and improved for a better. This also help us to realized that consultation is very important.

UNDERSTANDING PEOPLE NEEDS

my team and I conducted an interview to a random merchandiser in the groceries store to validate our idea to make a specific android app. Our proposed idea was a PLANOGRAM with online Reporting - since the problem of the common merchandiser nowadys is manual reporting and the layout or visual diagram is sometimes confused them, so to solve this problem we have come up with this solution.

In our app we have this features that will display the desired placement of product in a groceries store according to its category, we also want to have it converted into a pdf form so it will easily printed and give it to the merchandiser since when we conducted our interview we learned that they will just given a sheet of paper with an excell format of the display that they will need to follow, and sometimes the measurement and mass of the shelves is incorrect, we also learned that they need to report manually the progress of the product to thier boss weekly,quarterly and monthly so instead of passing a manual report why not do it in their phone, it will be hassle free and it also save time since they need to pass it during thier rest day.

My team and decided to have an interview not only with the merchandiser but also to the employeer/agency for us to have a full information about what we are going to do, so that we will know what specific goal we were going to achieve. It will also help us widen our idea in our project.

Interacting with different people was never easy, some are friendly, some are snob and some are strict but overall we learned that it is really important to have a customer validation because what we think or what we design is not really necessary, convenient and helpful to them. It also important to have a conversation to the people who really know and experienced the problem for us to understand the problem and come up with the right solution.

Everyone uses technology and its vital in todays world and part of our everyday life.Technopreneurship subject encouraged us to make an ideas on startup - technology/New trend that would give great impact to the people and to the society.Thinking new ideas is hard beacuse we all have the technology and app that will surely solve our problem and makes our life easier.

My team and I decided to think of a problem that most people are facing nowadays and contemplate if we can solve this problem and HOW we can solve this and give necessity to the people who are using it. We generate our ideas through brainstorming and list down all the startups ideas we come up with, and through out our hardship discussing we came up with the different question like " HOW we market our startup" "WHAT is our way for our startup to be known in public" " WHAT should be our strategies so that people will know that specific startup is existing" and through this hardship thinking to answer our questions we created new idea that will acknowledge this kind of questions.

Out of many options we had, our team decided to make an app called "iStart" - it is an app that will serve and help to all new startup team to have their product posted, so they will atleast announced to the world that specific startup is existing, one of the features of this app is it can viewed by the people who might want to invest or people finding potential startup to begin with because we know that finding an investors takes work, time and money you can ill afford.It will serve as mini advertisement site to all startup who wanted their startup product to be known.

Overall we learned that ideas for startup often begin with the problem that needs to be solved. It tend to reveal themselves while you're hard at work on something else, just like what our team experienced while we are on the hardship of thinking how we make our startup a successful one.We also learned that brainstorming is really a great way to generate ideas that would be very heplful to the team to make decision.Through brainstorming we can easy work on the things we agreed with.
