Athelle
Just a little explanation on the blog title and what was going to be the theme—
This semester you showed us a post you made on Instagram with the hashtag “light terror” or something like that and I looked it up and realized it’s completely in line with what I like. It’s horror, but not dark and decrepit or cheap like making you think something will jump out and scare you. It’s unsettling. That’s what I wanted my blog to be but I don’t think it really caught on and no one noticed (not to their fault, I did have to change a few up to fit what I could do within the project guidelines).
“Athelle” (pronounced Ah-th-elle, like the beginning of ATHena’s name and the end of Marielle) is “At Hell”. I’m very into religious angst which might have to do with my identity but that’s a bag of worms that are actually killer snakes in disguise. I wanted it to be the story of someone being recruited into a cult that goes horribly wrong, hence the first few posts being normal things people would post then it slowly gets weirder, like the picture with the alligator behind a really loud, ugly wallpaper. And the picture frame with nothing in it like it was just bought, or perhaps bought a long time ago but it’s owner had nothing special enough to them to frame. And the fact the picture is tilted slightly— photoshop wouldn’t let me make it as subtle as I wanted it to be but alas. And then the Ragnishparesh (sp?), the “you shouldn’t be here yet”, eyes looking at you everywhere and unsettling body drawing as the pfp. But then I was having fun making those color edits with a friend and I worried maybe the inevitable path of mass death, phycological suspicion/mental and physical health being ruined and just the general indirect mention (an allull? Word escapes me) of tragedies like Waco, Jonestown, and various other cult-ings might not be what everyone wants to see or think about.
This video is ten minutes long, poor quality and the music can feel the teeniest bit repetitive (for a reason, but still) but the mood or dare I say vibe it gives off is what I want my art to be: https://youtu.be/zvVHPVe525Q (just for the record, there is very obviously fake blood once in the video, a gun and poor audio quality. You never see the violence, the camera pans away)
Most if not all of my following submissions would be me sitting next to a friend, showing them what I learned by making something we laughed at.
It probably took me longer than it should’ve to make the guilt. It took me from noon to seven to figure out how to do it. Exporting it took at least two hours. But i did! And I’ll do more tomorrow.

Montage Proposal
The idea is based on this famous story from the internet that’s written poorly. The text is: “man & girl go out to drive under moonlight. they stop at on at a side of road. he turn to his girl and say: "baby, i love you very much" "what is it honey?" "our car is broken down. i think the engine is broken, ill walk and get some more fuel." "ok. ill stay here and look after our stereo. there have been news report of steres being stolen." "good idea. keep the doors locked no matter what. i love you sweaty"
so the guy left to get full for the car. after two hours the girl say "where is my baby, he was supposed to be back by now". then the girl here a scratching sound and a voice say "LET ME IN"
the girl doesn't do it and then after a while she goes to sleep. the next morning she wakes up and finds her boyfriend still not there. she gets out to check and man door hand hook car door.”
No one really knows what happens there at the end. I like to think the writer was so frightened they couldn’t type what’s happening with their shaking fingers or that theyre desperately trying to warn everyone before whatever it is attacks them. Regardless that’s why you’ll see the words written under some of the boxes. I don’t think ill do a voice-over because the scene is suppose to be dark and the story is funny (I don’t know why I decided to associate them because of this. I guess inspiration is strange). If I change ideas ill let you know but I have no other concepts in mind.
[ i sent this in email the friday it was due but what ended up happening was my roommate got covid the day after, which meant i had half the footage i needed but couldnt be around my actors without their masks on. it turns out i didn't yet have covid but i found that out thursday, so i decided to film something stupid about my tower being haunted but honestly i was too embarrassed to be seen with a camera filming myself obviously fakely reacting to a ghost i would edit in. so i made it about how i lost the top piece of my filming tripod and was upset about it, but once i found it i realized i had no need for it since finding it was going to be my video. so i shot something quick and spent more time then i care to admit figuring out how to edit]
