Naomi Murakawa on Black Lives Matter: Liberals, Guns & US Prison.

Laura Flanders take a look back at the coverage of the Black Lives Matter movement from its earliest days. Naomi said that the police don’t suffer from a deficit of procedure, that they suffer from an excess of power. Also, liberal procedural reforms are not going to change that, because liberals as much, if not more, have expanded our criminal code.

AbolitionASAP is a living workshop consisting of Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, YouTube, and GoogleDocs (so far). We are hoping to contribute to and provide outlets to foster the intersectional conversation about life in prison, mass incarceration, and the Prison Industrial Complex in the U. S. with an overall goal of the abolition of prisons as we currently know them. Originally an intensive workshop (shared on GoogleDocs for anyone who is interested) the project continues to grow to reach as many people as possible.
