Excited to share the latest addition to my #etsy shop: Fire Fighter Thin Red Line Pen I haven't shown the firefighters much love in a while, so this seems like a good time for a Thin Red Line pen. I generally pride myself in being an artist that makes functional works of art. Every pen I make, while meant to look beautiful, is also meant to be used. I've never liked the idea of making art that sits admire and protected in a display, but never used. This tribute to firefighters pen is as close to a display/show pen as I make. It is, however, very much a functional pen that writes beautifully with a ballpoint ink refill. The body is a solid wood inlay that's hand dyed and laser cut. It's then hand assembled and shaped on the lathe before it gets 15+ coats of protective clear coat. The hardware is done in a chrome finish with lots of detail work. Excited to share the latest addition to my #etsy shop: Twist Pen - Green and Gold Swirl Acrylic So I recently started delving into the world of casting my own acrylic and hybrid blanks. The results haven't been what I'd hoped for. Sometimes you just have to take a step back and work on something you're more familiar with. Just to remind yourself how far you've come. So today's pen is a return to something a bit more simple and familiar, but still beautiful. Where are my fellow Doctor Who fans??? This is a VERY LIMITED run! There is nothing more Iconic from the Doctor Who series than the Tardis. The Tardis is a fictional time machine and spacecraft used by the central character, the Doctor. The wood used to make this pen was salvaged from the very first Mk1 Doctor Who Tardis that was created for Peter Cushing for the film Dr. Who and the Daleks. It was originally constructed in 1965 at Shepperton Studios as a premier model for the cast to emerge from onto the stage. Each pen comes with a COA (Certificate of Authenticity) which includes links to the websites where you can further see the story of the wood and how it came to be made available for pen blanks. I always love making Marine Corps pens, but I can also make this pen for any branch of service. The body of the pen is made of Big Leaf Maple with a natural finish. It's then laser engraved and hand painted before going to the lathe for shaping. Afterwards, it gets sanded and 15+ coats of protective clear coat are applied before final sanding and polishing to a glass like finish. Excited to share the latest addition to my #etsy shop: Steam Pump Pen - Pink Juma It's been a long time since I posted a new and even longer still since I added any significantly new styles of pens to my inventory. Today I'm adding a new style of Steampunk pen to my lineup. Known as the Steampump pen, this one has an AMAZING amount of detail work on the hardware. From the detail work of the pump handle click action, to the clock face and gears engraved into the hardware, there's always something new to look at. Paired with thus new Steampump hardware is a new kind of acrylic known as Juma. For those that don't know, hybrids are when the body of the pen is made from a combination of wood and acrylic. In this case, the body is made from a piece of Big Leaf Maple that's been dyed red. The wood is then placed in a mold and acrylic resin is poured over it along with the addition of some Prickly Pear cactus. The hardware is a Faith/Hope/Love style hardware in a pewter finish with a rollerball ink refill. If I don't like a specific type of pen, I won't make one for inventory no matter how popular they are. But sometimes I make exceptions for these Slimline style pens.
