A couple of days after finishing the game I still think Louis would be more fitting villain for SMT game entry despite being only Metaphor big bad so far, if only BIG SPECTACLE BATTLE AGAINST GIANT DEMON IN THE SKY has nothing to do with either making a better country, solving societal issues or facing own anxieties.

In this fantasy story about honest and transparent election where PEOPLE decide who will be their new king and solve society issues partially caused by former king apathy:

main antagonist doesn't give a shit about election, wants to make a world of STR and is literal devil;

main protagonist doesn't give a shit about the election, wants to defeat antagonist for the sake of his friend (who is in fact him), is willing to lie to the public and plot assassinations;

most popular candidate doesn't give a shit about election, uses power and influence to rig it in his favor and is killed anyway;

his successor, actually popular and loved saint retired for the sake of protagonist, died anyway;

rest of the candidates are clowns with vague promises and agendas, all of them are beaten up and harassed out of the race anyway by good guys or evil guy (but mostly good guys);

final choice is between son of the former king (who got us into this mess) and literal devil who uses emotion control. It's not a choice, because he will do his genocide shit unless defeated four times (including a cutscene);

protagonist is "chosen" by people on virtue of being last man standing;

is a heir of acting royal bloodline, who puts his friends in all the key government positions and goes on fun adventures despite piles of actual work and people's pleas;

it's all ok because entire election was actually a ploy by hero's dead parents to get their son back on the throne and hundreds of years of ingrained racism are solved by a king's law that says "be nice to each other, good luck pals!".
