I am a SEETHING BALL OF RAGE FOR MARTEL YGGDRASILL.

Mini venting. Do not read.

I have so many issues with Martel’s role in the story and basically her entire life. I hate the fact that she’s victimized throughout the entire story and that almost none of her actual desires are fulfilled. It wasn’t her death that was the tragedy sometimes, it was in the fact that she was denied everything - including an afterlife. Forced to watch from a stone for four thousand years. And rejected in the only moment she’s capable of saying anything at all.

She’s been put on an unrealistic pedestal. Had crimes and murders committed in her name. Watched at her loved ones slowly became unrecognizable from their former selves in everything but appearance.

The OVA shows her with both the physical and verbal reactions of FEAR.

Martel Yggdrasill isn’t happy nor is her life and purpose in the story of Tales of Symphonia and I hate how little this is considered in the time I’ve sat here on this blog. I can only hope that the novel or something else managed to put her in more light but I’m not fully confident?
